1בְּנֵ֖י יְהוּדָ֑ה פֶּ֧רֶץ חֶצְר֛וֹן וְכַרְמִ֖י וְח֥וּר וְשׁוֹבָֽל׃
bene yehuda peretz chetzron vekharmi vechur veshoval
The sons of Judah: Perez, Hezron, and Carmi, and Hur, and Shobal.
2וּרְאָיָ֤ה בֶן־שׁוֹבָל֙ הוֹלִ֣יד אֶת־יַ֔חַת וְיַ֣חַת הֹלִ֔יד אֶת־אֲחוּמַ֖י וְאֶת־לָ֑הַד אֵ֖לֶּה מִשְׁפְּח֥וֹת הַצָּֽרְעָתִֽי׃
ure'aya ven-shoval holid et-yachat veyachat holid et-achumay ve'et-lahad elle mishpechot hatzar'ati
And Reaiah the son of Shobal begot Jahath; and Jahath begot Ahumai, and Lahad. These are the families of the Zorathites.
3וְאֵ֨לֶּה֙ אֲבִ֣י עֵיטָ֔ם יִזְרְעֶ֥אל וְיִשְׁמָ֖א וְיִדְבָּ֑שׁ וְשֵׁ֥ם אֲחוֹתָ֖ם הַצְלֶלְפּֽוֹנִי׃
ve'elle avi etam yizre'el veyishma veyidbash veshem achotam hatzlelponi
And these were [the sons of] the father of Etam: Jezreel, and Ishma, and Idbash; and the name of their sister was Hazlelponi;
4וּפְנוּאֵל֙ אֲבִ֣י גְדֹ֔ר וְעֵ֖זֶר אֲבִ֣י חוּשָׁ֑ה אֵ֤לֶּה בְנֵי־חוּר֙ בְּכ֣וֹר אֶפְרָ֔תָה אֲבִ֖י בֵּ֥ית לָֽחֶם׃
ufenu'el avi gedor ve'ezer avi chusha elle vene-chur bekhor efrata avi bet lachem
and Penuel the father of Gedor, and Ezer the father of Hushah. These are the sons of Hur the first-born of Ephrath, the father of Beth-lehem.
5וּלְאַשְׁחוּר֙ אֲבִ֣י תְק֔וֹעַ הָי֖וּ שְׁתֵּ֣י נָשִׁ֑ים חֶלְאָ֖ה וְנַעֲרָֽה׃
ule'ashchur avi tekoa hayu shete nashim chel'a vena'ara
And Ashhur the father of Tekoa had two wives, Helah and Naarah.
6וַתֵּ֨לֶד ל֤וֹ נַעֲרָה֙ אֶת־אֲחֻזָּ֣ם וְאֶת־חֵ֔פֶר וְאֶת־תֵּימְנִ֖י וְאֶת־הָאֲחַשְׁתָּרִ֑י אֵ֖לֶּה בְּנֵ֥י נַעֲרָֽה׃
vatteled lo na'ara et-achuzzam ve'et-chefer ve'et-temni ve'et-ha'achashtari elle bene na'ara
And Naarah bore him Ahuzam, and Hepher, and Timeni, and Ahashtari. These were the sons of Naarah.
7וּבְנֵ֖י חֶלְאָ֑ה צֶ֥רֶת יצחר [וְצֹ֖חַר] וְאֶתְנָֽן׃
uvene chel'a tzeret vetzochar ve'etnan
And the sons of Helah were Zereth, and Zohar, and Ethnan.
8וְק֣וֹץ הוֹלִ֔יד אֶת־עָנ֖וּב וְאֶת־הַצֹּבֵבָ֑ה וּמִשְׁפְּח֥וֹת אֲחַרְחֵ֖ל בֶּן־הָרֽוּם׃
vekotz holid et-anuv ve'et-hatzoveva umishpechot acharchel ben-harum
And Koz begot Anub, and Zobebah, and the families of Aharhel the son of Harum.
9וַיְהִ֣י יַעְבֵּ֔ץ נִכְבָּ֖ד מֵאֶחָ֑יו וְאִמּ֗וֹ קָרְאָ֨ה שְׁמ֤וֹ יַעְבֵּץ֙ לֵאמֹ֔ר כִּ֥י יָלַ֖דְתִּי בְּעֹֽצֶב׃
vayhi ya'betz nikhbad me'echav ve'immo kar'a shemo ya'betz lemor ki yaladti be'otzev
And Jabez was more honourable than his brethren; and his mother called his name Jabez, saying: ‘Because I bore him with pain.’
10וַיִּקְרָ֣א יַ֠עְבֵּץ לֵאלֹהֵ֨י יִשְׂרָאֵ֜ל לֵאמֹ֗ר אִם־בָּרֵ֨ךְ תְּבָרֲכֵ֜נִי וְהִרְבִּ֤יתָ אֶת־גְּבוּלִי֙ וְהָיְתָ֤ה יָדְךָ֙ עִמִּ֔י וְעָשִׂ֥יתָ מֵּרָעָ֖ה לְבִלְתִּ֣י עָצְבִּ֑י וַיָּבֵ֥א אֱלֹהִ֖ים אֵ֥ת אֲשֶׁר־שָׁאָֽל׃
vayyikra ya'betz lelohe yisra'el lemor im-barekh tevarakheni vehirbita et-gevuli vehayta yadkha immi ve'asita mera'a levilti atzbi vayyave elohim et asher-sha'al
And Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying: ‘Oh that Thou wouldest bless me indeed, and enlarge my border, and that Thy hand might be with me, and that Thou wouldest work deliverance from evil, that it may not pain me! ’ And God granted him that which he requested.
11וּכְל֥וּב אֲחִֽי־שׁוּחָ֖ה הוֹלִ֣יד אֶת־מְחִ֑יר ה֖וּא אֲבִ֥י אֶשְׁתּֽוֹן׃
ukheluv achi-shucha holid et-mechir hu avi eshton
And Chelub the brother of Shuhah begot Mehir, who was the father of Eshton.
12וְאֶשְׁתּ֗וֹן הוֹלִ֞יד אֶת־בֵּ֤ית רָפָא֙ וְאֶת־פָּסֵ֔חַ וְאֶת־תְּחִנָּ֖ה אֲבִ֣י עִ֣יר נָחָ֑שׁ אֵ֖לֶּה אַנְשֵׁ֥י רֵכָֽה׃
ve'eshton holid et-bet rafa ve'et-paseach ve'et-techinna avi ir nachash elle anshe rekha
And Eshton begot Beth-rapha, and Paseah, and Tehinnah the father of Ir-nahash. These are the men of Recah.
13וּבְנֵ֣י קְנַ֔ז עָתְנִיאֵ֖ל וּשְׂרָיָ֑ה וּבְנֵ֥י עָתְנִיאֵ֖ל חֲתַֽת׃
uvene kenaz atni'el useraya uvene atni'el chatat
And the sons of Kenaz: Othniel, and Seraiah; and the sons of Othniel: Hathath.
14וּמְעוֹנֹתַ֖י הוֹלִ֣יד אֶת־עָפְרָ֑ה וּשְׂרָיָ֗ה הוֹלִ֤יד אֶת־יוֹאָב֙ אֲבִי֙ גֵּ֣יא חֲרָשִׁ֔ים כִּ֥י חֲרָשִׁ֖ים הָיֽוּ׃
ume'onotay holid et-afra useraya holid et-yo'av avi ge charashim ki charashim hayu
And Meonothai begot Ophrah; and Seraiah begot Joab the father of Ge-harashim; for they were craftsmen.
15וּבְנֵי֙ כָּלֵ֣ב בֶּן־יְפֻנֶּ֔ה עִ֥ירוּ אֵלָ֖ה וָנָ֑עַם וּבְנֵ֥י אֵלָ֖ה וּקְנַֽז׃
uvene kalev ben-yefunne iru ela vana'am uvene ela ukenaz
And the sons of Caleb the son of Jephunneh: Iru, Elah, and Naam; and the sons of Elah: Kenaz.
16וּבְנֵ֖י יְהַלֶּלְאֵ֑ל זִ֣יף וְזִיפָ֔ה תִּירְיָ֖א וַאֲשַׂרְאֵֽל׃
uvene yehallel'el zif vezifa tirya va'asar'el
And the sons of Jehallelel: Ziph, and Ziphah, Tiria, and Asarel.
17וּבֶן־עֶזְרָ֔ה יֶ֥תֶר וּמֶ֖רֶד וְעֵ֣פֶר וְיָל֑וֹן וַתַּ֨הַר֙ אֶת־מִרְיָ֣ם וְאֶת־שַׁמַּ֔י וְאֶת־יִשְׁבָּ֖ח אֲבִ֥י אֶשְׁתְּמֹֽעַ׃
uven-ezra yeter umered ve'efer veyalon vattahar et-miryam ve'et-shammay ve'et-yishbach avi eshtemoa
And the sons of Ezrah: Jether, and Mered, and Epher, and Jalon. And she bore Miriam, and Shammai, and Ishbah the father of Eshtemoa—
18וְאִשְׁתּ֣וֹ הַיְהֻדִיָּ֗ה יָלְדָ֞ה אֶת־יֶ֨רֶד אֲבִ֤י גְדוֹר֙ וְאֶת־חֶ֨בֶר֙ אֲבִ֣י שׂוֹכ֔וֹ וְאֶת־יְקֽוּתִיאֵ֖ל אֲבִ֣י זָנ֑וֹחַ וְאֵ֗לֶּה בְּנֵי֙ בִּתְיָ֣ה בַת־פַּרְעֹ֔ה אֲשֶׁ֥ר לָקַ֖ח מָֽרֶד׃
ve'ishto hayhudiyya yalda et-yered avi gedor ve'et-chever avi sokho ve'et-yekuti'el avi zanoach ve'elle bene bitya vat-par'o asher lakach mared
and his wife Hajehudijah bore Jered the father of Gedor, and Heber the father of Soco, and Jekuthiel the father of Zanoah—and these are the sons of Bithiah the daughter of Pharaoh whom Mered took.
19וּבְנֵי֙ אֵ֣שֶׁת הֽוֹדִיָּ֔ה אֲח֣וֹת נַ֔חַם אֲבִ֥י קְעִילָ֖ה הַגַּרְמִ֑י וְאֶשְׁתְּמֹ֖עַ הַמַּעֲכָתִֽי׃
uvene eshet hodiyya achot nacham avi ke'ila haggarmi ve'eshtemoa hamma'akhati
And the sons of the wife of Hodiah, the sister of Naham, were the father of Keilah the Garmite, and Eshtemoa the Maacathite.
20וּבְנֵ֣י שִׁימ֔וֹן אַמְנ֣וֹן וְרִנָּ֔ה בֶּן־חָנָ֖ן ותולון [וְתִיל֑וֹן] וּבְנֵ֣י יִשְׁעִ֔י זוֹחֵ֖ת וּבֶן־זוֹחֵֽת׃
uvene shimon amnon verinna ben-chanan vetilon uvene yish'i zochet uven-zochet
And the sons of Shimon: Amnon, and Rinnah, Ben-hanan, and Tilon. And the sons of Ishi: Zoheth, and Ben-zoheth.
21בְּנֵי֙ שֵׁלָ֣ה בֶן־יְהוּדָ֔ה עֵ֚ר אֲבִ֣י לֵכָ֔ה וְלַעְדָּ֖ה אֲבִ֣י מָרֵשָׁ֑ה וּמִשְׁפְּח֛וֹת בֵּית־עֲבֹדַ֥ת הַבֻּ֖ץ לְבֵ֥ית אַשְׁבֵּֽעַ׃
bene shela ven-yehuda er avi lekha vela'da avi maresha umishpechot bet-avodat habbutz levet ashbea
The sons of Shelah the son of Judah: Er the father of Lecah, and Ladah the father of Mareshah, and the families of the house of them that wrought fine linen, of the house of Ashbea;
22וְיוֹקִ֞ים וְאַנְשֵׁ֣י כֹזֵבָ֗א וְיוֹאָ֧שׁ וְשָׂרָ֛ף אֲשֶׁר־בָּעֲל֥וּ לְמוֹאָ֖ב וְיָשֻׁ֣בִי לָ֑חֶם וְהַדְּבָרִ֖ים עַתִּיקִֽים׃
veyokim ve'anshe khozeva veyo'ash vesaraf asher-ba'alu lemo'av veyashuvi lachem vehaddevarim attikim
and Jokim, and the men of Cozeba, and Joash, and Saraph, who had dominion in Moab, and Jashubi-lehem. And the records are ancient.
23הֵ֚מָּה הַיּ֣וֹצְרִ֔ים וְיֹשְׁבֵ֥י נְטָעִ֖ים וּגְדֵרָ֑ה עִם־הַמֶּ֥לֶךְ בִּמְלַאכְתּ֖וֹ יָ֥שְׁבוּ שָֽׁם׃
hemma hayyotzrim veyoshve neta'im ugedera im-hammelekh bimlakhto yashvu sham
These were the potters, and those that dwelt among plantations and hedges; there they dwelt occupied in the king’s work.
24בְּנֵ֖י שִׁמְע֑וֹן נְמוּאֵ֣ל וְיָמִ֔ין יָרִ֖יב זֶ֥רַח שָׁאֽוּל׃
bene shim'on nemu'el veyamin yariv zerach shaul
The sons of Simeon: Nemuel, and Jamim, Jarib, Zerah, Shaul;
25שַׁלֻּ֥ם בְּנ֛וֹ מִבְשָׂ֥ם בְּנ֖וֹ מִשְׁמָ֥ע בְּנֽוֹ׃
shallum beno mivsam beno mishma' beno
Shallum his son, Mibsam his son, Mishma his son.
26וּבְנֵ֖י מִשְׁמָ֑ע חַמּוּאֵ֥ל בְּנ֛וֹ זַכּ֥וּר בְּנ֖וֹ שִׁמְעִ֥י בְנֽוֹ׃
uvene mishma' chammu'el beno zakkur beno shim'i veno
And the sons of Mishma: Hammuel his son, Zaccur his son, Shimei his son.
27וּלְשִׁמְעִ֞י בָּנִ֨ים שִׁשָּׁ֤ה עָשָׂר֙ וּבָנ֣וֹת שֵׁ֔שׁ וּלְאֶחָ֕יו אֵ֖ין בָּנִ֣ים רַבִּ֑ים וְכֹל֙ מִשְׁפַּחְתָּ֔ם לֹ֥א הִרְבּ֖וּ עַד־בְּנֵ֥י יְהוּדָֽה׃
uleshim'i banim shisha asar uvanot shesh ule'echav en banim rabbim vekhol mishpachtam lo hirbu ad-bene yehuda
And Shimei had sixteen sons and six daughters; but his brethren had not many children, neither did all their family multiply, like to the children of Judah.
28וַיֵּֽשְׁב֛וּ בִּבְאֵֽר־שֶׁ֥בַע וּמוֹלָדָ֖ה וַחֲצַ֥ר שׁוּעָֽל׃
vayyeshvu biv'er-sheva' umolada vachatzar shu'al
And they dwelt at Beer-sheba, and Moladah, and Hazar-shual;
29וּבְבִלְהָ֥ה וּבְעֶ֖צֶם וּבְתוֹלָֽד׃
uvevilha uve'etzem uvetolad
and at Bilhah, and at Ezem, and at Tolad;
30וּבִבְתוּאֵ֥ל וּבְחָרְמָ֖ה וּבְצִֽיקְלָֽג׃
uvivtu'el uvecharma uvetziklag
and at Bethuel, and at Hormah, and at Ziklag;
31וּבְבֵ֤ית מַרְכָּבוֹת֙ וּבַחֲצַ֣ר סוּסִ֔ים וּבְבֵ֥ית בִּרְאִ֖י וּֽבְשַׁעֲרָ֑יִם אֵ֥לֶּה עָרֵיהֶ֖ם עַד־מְלֹ֥ךְ דָּוִֽיד׃
uvevet markavot uvachatzar susim uvevet bir'i uvesha'arayim elle arehem ad-melokh david
and at Beth-marcaboth, and Hazar-susim, and at Beth-biri, and at Shaaraim. These were their cities unto the reign of David.
32וְחַצְרֵיהֶם֙ עֵיטָ֣ם וָעַ֔יִן רִמּ֥וֹן וְתֹ֖כֶן וְעָשָׁ֑ן עָרִ֖ים חָמֵֽשׁ׃
vechatzrehem etam va'ayin rimmon vetokhen ve'ashan arim chamesh
And their villages were Etam, and Ain, Rimmon, and Tochen, and Ashan, five cities;
33וְכָל־חַצְרֵיהֶ֗ם אֲשֶׁ֧ר סְבִיב֛וֹת הֶעָרִ֥ים הָאֵ֖לֶּה עַד־בָּ֑עַל זֹ֚את מוֹשְׁבֹתָ֔ם וְהִתְיַחְשָׂ֖ם לָהֶֽם׃
vekhal-chatzrehem asher sevivot he'arim ha'elle ad-ba'al zot moshvotam vehityachsam lahem
and all their villages that were round about the same cities, unto Baal. These were their habitations, and they have their genealogy.
34וּמְשׁוֹבָ֣ב וְיַמְלֵ֔ךְ וְיוֹשָׁ֖ה בֶּן־אֲמַצְיָֽה׃
umeshovav veyamlekh veyosha ben-amatzya
And Meshobab, and Jamlech, and Joshah the son of Amaziah;
35וְיוֹאֵ֑ל וְיֵהוּא֙ בֶּן־י֣וֹשִׁבְיָ֔ה בֶּן־שְׂרָיָ֖ה בֶּן־עֲשִׂיאֵֽל׃
veyo'el veyehu ben-yoshivya ben-seraya ben-asi'el
and Joel, and Jehu the son of Joshibiah, the son of Seraiah, the son of Asiel;
36וְאֶלְיוֹעֵינַ֡י וְֽיַעֲקֹ֡בָה וִ֠ישׁוֹחָיָה וַעֲשָׂיָ֧ה וַעֲדִיאֵ֛ל וִישִׂימִאֵ֖ל וּבְנָיָֽה׃
ve'elyo'enay veya'akova vishochaya va'asaya va'adi'el visimi'el uvenaya
and Elioenai, and Jaakobah, and Jeshoaiah, and Asaiah, and Adiel, and Jesimiel, and Benaiah;
37וְזִיזָ֨א בֶן־שִׁפְעִ֧י בֶן־אַלּ֛וֹן בֶּן־יְדָיָ֥ה בֶן־שִׁמְרִ֖י בֶּן־שְׁמַֽעְיָֽה׃
veziza ven-shif'i ven-allon ben-yedaya ven-shimri ben-shema'ya
and Ziza the son of Shiphi, the son of Allon, the son of Jedaiah, the son of Shimri, the son of Shemaiah;
38אֵ֚לֶּה הַבָּאִ֣ים בְּשֵׁמ֔וֹת נְשִׂיאִ֖ים בְּמִשְׁפְּחוֹתָ֑ם וּבֵית֙ אֲב֣וֹתֵיהֶ֔ם פָּרְצ֖וּ לָרֽוֹב׃
elle habba'im beshemot nesi'im bemishpechotam uvet avotehem partzu larov
these mentioned by name were princes in their families; and their fathers’houses increased greatly.
39וַיֵּלְכוּ֙ לִמְב֣וֹא גְדֹ֔ר עַ֖ד לְמִזְרַ֣ח הַגָּ֑יְא לְבַקֵּ֥שׁ מִרְעֶ֖ה לְצֹאנָֽם׃
vayyelkhu limvo gedor ad lemizrach haggay levakkesh mir'e letzonam
And they went to the entrance of Gedor, even unto the east side of the valley, to seek pasture for their flocks.
40וַֽיִּמְצְא֤וּ מִרְעֶה֙ שָׁמֵ֣ן וָט֔וֹב וְהָאָ֨רֶץ֙ רַחֲבַ֣ת יָדַ֔יִם וְשֹׁקֶ֖טֶת וּשְׁלֵוָ֑ה כִּ֣י מִן־חָ֔ם הַיֹּשְׁבִ֥ים שָׁ֖ם לְפָנִֽים׃
vayyimtzeu mir'e shamen vatov veha'aretz rachavat yadayim veshoketet usheleva ki min-cham hayyoshvim sham lefanim
And they found fat pasture and good, and the land was wide, and quiet, and peaceable; for they that dwelt there aforetime were of Ham.
41וַיָּבֹ֡אוּ אֵלֶּה֩ הַכְּתוּבִ֨ים בְּשֵׁמ֜וֹת בִּימֵ֣י ׀ יְחִזְקִיָּ֣הוּ מֶֽלֶךְ־יְהוּדָ֗ה וַיַּכּ֨וּ אֶת־אָהֳלֵיהֶ֜ם וְאֶת־המעינים [הַמְּעוּנִ֨ים] אֲשֶׁ֤ר נִמְצְאוּ־שָׁ֨מָּה֙ וַיַּחֲרִימֻם֙ עַד־הַיּ֣וֹם הַזֶּ֔ה וַיֵּשְׁב֖וּ תַּחְתֵּיהֶ֑ם כִּֽי־מִרְעֶ֥ה לְצֹאנָ֖ם שָֽׁם׃
vayyavou elle hakketuvim beshemot bime yechizkiyyahu melekh-yehuda vayyakku et-aholehem ve'et-hamme'unim asher nimtzeu-shamma vayyacharimum ad-hayyom hazze vayyeshvu tachtehem ki-mir'e letzonam sham
And these written by name came in the days of Hezekiah king of Judah, and smote their tents, and the Meunim that were found there, and destroyed them utterly, unto this day, and dwelt in their stead; because there was pasture there for their flocks.
42וּמֵהֶ֣ם ׀ מִן־בְּנֵ֣י שִׁמְע֗וֹן הָלְכוּ֙ לְהַ֣ר שֵׂעִ֔יר אֲנָשִׁ֖ים חֲמֵ֣שׁ מֵא֑וֹת וּפְלַטְיָ֡ה וּ֠נְעַרְיָה וּרְפָיָ֧ה וְעֻזִּיאֵ֛ל בְּנֵ֥י יִשְׁעִ֖י בְּרֹאשָֽׁם׃
umehem min-bene shim'on halkhu lehar se'ir anashim chamesh meot ufelatya une'arya urefaya ve'uzzi'el bene yish'i berosham
And some of them, even of the sons of Simeon, five hundred men, went to mount Seir, having for their captains Pelatiah, and Neariah, and Rephaiah, and Uzziel, the sons of Ishi.
43וַיַּכּ֕וּ אֶת־שְׁאֵרִ֥ית הַפְּלֵטָ֖ה לַעֲמָלֵ֑ק וַיֵּ֣שְׁבוּ שָׁ֔ם עַ֖ד הַיּ֥וֹם הַזֶּֽה׃
vayyakku et-she'erit happeleta la'amalek vayyeshvu sham ad hayyom hazze
And they smote the remnant of the Amalekites that escaped, and dwelt there unto this day.
