1וּבְנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֣ל ׀ לְֽמִסְפָּרָ֡ם רָאשֵׁ֣י הָאָב֣וֹת וְשָׂרֵ֣י הָֽאֲלָפִ֣ים ׀ וְהַמֵּא֡וֹת וְשֹׁטְרֵיהֶם֩ הַמְשָׁרְתִ֨ים אֶת־הַמֶּ֜לֶךְ לְכֹ֣ל ׀ דְּבַ֣ר הַֽמַּחְלְק֗וֹת הַבָּאָ֤ה וְהַיֹּצֵאת֙ חֹ֣דֶשׁ בְּחֹ֔דֶשׁ לְכֹ֖ל חָדְשֵׁ֣י הַשָּׁנָ֑ה הַֽמַּחֲלֹ֨קֶת֙ הָֽאַחַ֔ת עֶשְׂרִ֥ים וְאַרְבָּעָ֖ה אָֽלֶף׃
uvene yisra'el lemisparam rashe ha'avot vesare ha'alafim vehammeot veshotrehem hamshartim et-hammelekh lekhol devar hammachlekot habba'a vehayyotzet chodesh bechodesh lekhol chadshe hashana hammachaloket ha'achat esrim ve'arba'a alef
Now the children of Israel after their number, to wit, the heads of fathers’houses and the captains of thousands and of hundreds, and their officers that served the king, in any matter of the courses which came in and went out month by month throughout all the months of the year, of every course were twenty and four thousand.
2עַ֞ל הַמַּחֲלֹ֤קֶת הָרִֽאשׁוֹנָה֙ לַחֹ֣דֶשׁ הָרִאשׁ֔וֹן יָֽשָׁבְעָ֖ם בֶּן־זַבְדִּיאֵ֑ל וְעַל֙ מַֽחֲלֻקְתּ֔וֹ עֶשְׂרִ֥ים וְאַרְבָּעָ֖ה אָֽלֶף׃
al hammachaloket harishona lachodesh harishon yashav'am ben-zavdi'el ve'al machalukto esrim ve'arba'a alef
Over the first course for the first month was Jashobeam the son of Zabdiel; and in his course were twenty and four thousand.
3מִן־בְּנֵי־פֶ֗רֶץ הָרֹ֛אשׁ לְכָל־שָׂרֵ֥י הַצְּבָא֖וֹת לַחֹ֥דֶשׁ הָרִאשֽׁוֹן׃
min-bene-feretz harosh lekhal-sare hatzevaot lachodesh harishon
Of the children of Perez was he, and the chief of all the captains of the host for the first month.
4וְעַ֞ל מַחֲלֹ֣קֶת ׀ הַחֹ֣דֶשׁ הַשֵּׁנִ֗י דּוֹדַ֤י הָאֲחוֹחִי֙ וּמַ֣חֲלֻקְתּ֔וֹ וּמִקְל֖וֹת הַנָּגִ֑יד וְעַל֙ מַחֲלֻקְתּ֔וֹ עֶשְׂרִ֥ים וְאַרְבָּעָ֖ה אָֽלֶף׃
ve'al machaloket hachodesh hasheni doday ha'achochi umachalukto umiklot hannagid ve'al machalukto esrim ve'arba'a alef
And over the course of the second month was Dodai the Ahohite, and his course, and Mikloth the ruler; and in his course were twenty and four thousand.
5שַׂ֣ר הַצָּבָ֤א הַשְּׁלִישִׁי֙ לַחֹ֣דֶשׁ הַשְּׁלִישִׁ֔י בְּנָיָ֧הוּ בֶן־יְהוֹיָדָ֛ע הַכֹּהֵ֖ן רֹ֑אשׁ וְעַל֙ מַחֲלֻקְתּ֔וֹ עֶשְׂרִ֥ים וְאַרְבָּעָ֖ה אָֽלֶף׃
sar hatzava hashelishi lachodesh hashelishi benayahu ven-yehoyada' hakkohen rosh ve'al machalukto esrim ve'arba'a alef
The third captain of the host for the third month was Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, the priest, chief; and in his course were twenty and four thousand.
6ה֧וּא בְנָיָ֛הוּ גִּבּ֥וֹר הַשְּׁלֹשִׁ֖ים וְעַל־הַשְּׁלֹשִׁ֑ים וּמַ֣חֲלֻקְתּ֔וֹ עַמִּיזָבָ֖ד בְּנֽוֹ׃
hu venayahu gibbor hasheloshim ve'al-hasheloshim umachalukto ammizavad beno
This is that Benaiah, who was the mighty man of the thirty, and over the thirty; and of his course was Ammizabad his son.
7הָֽרְבִיעִ֞י לַחֹ֣דֶשׁ הָרְבִיעִ֗י עֲשָׂה־אֵל֙ אֲחִ֣י יוֹאָ֔ב וּזְבַדְיָ֥ה בְנ֖וֹ אַחֲרָ֑יו וְעַל֙ מַחֲלֻקְתּ֔וֹ עֶשְׂרִ֥ים וְאַרְבָּעָ֖ה אָֽלֶף׃
harvi'i lachodesh harvi'i asa-el achi yo'av uzevadya veno acharav ve'al machalukto esrim ve'arba'a alef
The fourth captain for the fourth month was Asahel the brother of Joab, and Zebadiah his son after him; and in his course were twenty and four thousand.
8הַחַמִישִׁי֙ לַחֹ֣דֶשׁ הַחֲמִישִׁ֔י הַשַּׂ֖ר שַׁמְה֣וּת הַיִּזְרָ֑ח וְעַל֙ מַחֲלֻקְתּ֔וֹ עֶשְׂרִ֥ים וְאַרְבָּעָ֖ה אָֽלֶף׃
hachamishi lachodesh hachamishi hassar shamhut hayyizrach ve'al machalukto esrim ve'arba'a alef
The fifth captain for the fifth month was Shamhuth the Izrahite; and in his course were twenty and four thousand.
9הַשִּׁשִּׁי֙ לַחֹ֣דֶשׁ הַשִּׁשִּׁ֔י עִירָ֥א בֶן־עִקֵּ֖שׁ הַתְּקוֹעִ֑י וְעַל֙ מַחֲלֻקְתּ֔וֹ עֶשְׂרִ֥ים וְאַרְבָּעָ֖ה אָֽלֶף׃
hashishi lachodesh hashishi ira ven-ikkesh hatteko'i ve'al machalukto esrim ve'arba'a alef
The sixth captain for the sixth month was Ira the son of Ikkesh the Tekoite; and in his course were twenty and four thousand.
10הַשְּׁבִיעִי֙ לַחֹ֣דֶשׁ הַשְּׁבִיעִ֔י חֶ֥לֶץ הַפְּלוֹנִ֖י מִן־בְּנֵ֣י אֶפְרָ֑יִם וְעַל֙ מַחֲלֻקְתּ֔וֹ עֶשְׂרִ֥ים וְאַרְבָּעָ֖ה אָֽלֶף׃
hashevi'i lachodesh hashevi'i cheletz happeloni min-bene efrayim ve'al machalukto esrim ve'arba'a alef
The seventh captain for the seventh month was Helez the Pelonite, of the children of Ephraim; and in his course were twenty and four thousand.
11הַשְּׁמִינִי֙ לַחֹ֣דֶשׁ הַשְּׁמִינִ֔י סִבְּכַ֥י הַחֻשָׁתִ֖י לַזַּרְחִ֑י וְעַל֙ מַחֲלֻקְתּ֔וֹ עֶשְׂרִ֥ים וְאַרְבָּעָ֖ה אָֽלֶף׃
hashemini lachodesh hashemini sibbekhay hachushati lazzarchi ve'al machalukto esrim ve'arba'a alef
The eighth captain for the eighth month was Sibbecai the Hushathite, of the Zerahites; and in his course were twenty and four thousand.
12הַתְּשִׁיעִי֙ לַחֹ֣דֶשׁ הַתְּשִׁיעִ֔י אֲבִיעֶ֥זֶר הָעַנְּתֹתִ֖י לבנימיני [לַבֵּ֣ן ׀יְמִינִ֑י] וְעַל֙ מַחֲלֻקְתּ֔וֹ עֶשְׂרִ֥ים וְאַרְבָּעָ֖ה אָֽלֶף׃
hatteshi'i lachodesh hatteshi'i avi'ezer ha'annetoti labben yemini ve'al machalukto esrim ve'arba'a alef
The ninth captain for the ninth month was Abiezer the Anathothite, of the Benjamites; and in his course were twenty and four thousand.
13הָעֲשִׂירִי֙ לַחֹ֣דֶשׁ הָעֲשִׂירִ֔י מַהְרַ֥י הַנְּטֽוֹפָתִ֖י לַזַּרְחִ֑י וְעַל֙ מַֽחֲלֻקְתּ֔וֹ עֶשְׂרִ֥ים וְאַרְבָּעָ֖ה אָֽלֶף׃
ha'asiri lachodesh ha'asiri mahray hannetofati lazzarchi ve'al machalukto esrim ve'arba'a alef
The tenth captain for the tenth month was Mahrai, the Netophathite, of the Zerahites; and in his course were twenty and four thousand.
14עַשְׁתֵּֽי־עָשָׂר֙ לְעַשְׁתֵּ֣י־עָשָׂ֣ר הַחֹ֔דֶשׁ בְּנָיָ֥ה הַפִּרְעָתוֹנִ֖י מִן־בְּנֵ֣י אֶפְרָ֑יִם וְעַל֙ מַחֲלֻקְתּ֔וֹ עֶשְׂרִ֥ים וְאַרְבָּעָ֖ה אָֽלֶף׃
ashte-asar le'ashte-asar hachodesh benaya happir'atoni min-bene efrayim ve'al machalukto esrim ve'arba'a alef
The eleventh captain for the eleventh month was Benaiah the Pirathonite, of the children of Ephraim; and in his course were twenty and four thousand.
15הַשְּׁנֵ֤ים עָשָׂר֙ לִשְׁנֵ֣ים עָשָׂ֣ר הַחֹ֔דֶשׁ חֶלְדַּ֥י הַנְּטוֹפָתִ֖י לְעָתְנִיאֵ֑ל וְעַל֙ מַחֲלֻקְתּ֔וֹ עֶשְׂרִ֥ים וְאַרְבָּעָ֖ה אָֽלֶף׃
hashenem asar lishnem asar hachodesh chelday hannetofati le'atni'el ve'al machalukto esrim ve'arba'a alef
The twelfth captain for the twelfth month was Heldai the Netophathite, of Othniel; and in his course were twenty and four thousand.
16וְעַל֙ שִׁבְטֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל לָרֽאוּבֵנִ֣י נָגִ֔יד אֱלִיעֶ֖זֶר בֶּן־זִכְרִ֑י לַשִּׁ֨מְעוֹנִ֔י שְׁפַטְיָ֖הוּ בֶּֽן־מַעֲכָֽה׃
ve'al shivte yisra'el laruveni nagid eli'ezer ben-zikhri lashim'oni shefatyahu ben-ma'akha
Furthermore over the tribes of Israel: of the Reubenites was Eliezer the son of Zichri the ruler; of the Simeonites, Shephatiah the son of Maacah;
17לְלֵוִ֛י חֲשַׁבְיָ֥ה בֶן־קְמוּאֵ֖ל לְאַהֲרֹ֥ן צָדֽוֹק׃
lelevi chashavya ven-kemu'el le'aharon tzadok
of Levi, Hashabiah the son of Kemuel; of Aaron, Zadok;
18לִֽיהוּדָ֕ה אֱלִיה֖וּ מֵאֲחֵ֣י דָוִ֑יד לְיִ֨שָׂשכָ֔ר עָמְרִ֖י בֶּן־מִיכָאֵֽל׃
lihuda elihu me'ache david leyisashkhar amri ben-mikha'el
of Judah, Elihu, one of the brethren of David; of Issachar, Omri the son of Michael;
19לִזְבוּלֻ֕ן יִֽשְׁמַֽעְיָ֖הוּ בֶּן־עֹבַדְיָ֑הוּ לְנַ֨פְתָּלִ֔י יְרִימ֖וֹת בֶּן־עַזְרִיאֵֽל׃
lizvulun yishma'yahu ben-ovadyahu lenaftali yerimot ben-azri'el
of Zebulun, Ishmaiah the son of Obadiah; of Naphtali, Jerimoth the son of Azriel;
20לִבְנֵ֣י אֶפְרַ֔יִם הוֹשֵׁ֖עַ בֶּן־עֲזַזְיָ֑הוּ לַחֲצִי֙ שֵׁ֣בֶט מְנַשֶּׁ֔ה יוֹאֵ֖ל בֶּן־פְּדָיָֽהוּ׃
livne efrayim hoshea ben-azazyahu lachatzi shevet menashe yo'el ben-pedayahu
of the children of Ephraim, Hoshea the son of Azaziah; of the half-tribe of Manasseh, Joel the son of Pedaiah;
21לַחֲצִ֤י הַֽמְנַשֶּׁה֙ גִּלְעָ֔דָה יִדּ֖וֹ בֶּן־זְכַרְיָ֑הוּ לְבִנְיָמִ֔ן יַעֲשִׂיאֵ֖ל בֶּן־אַבְנֵֽר׃
lachatzi hamnashe gil'ada yiddo ben-zekharyahu levinyamin ya'asi'el ben-avner
of the half-tribe of Manasseh in Gilead, Iddo the son of Zechariah; of Benjamin, Jaasiel the son of Abner;
22לְדָ֕ן עֲזַרְאֵ֖ל בֶּן־יְרֹחָ֑ם אֵ֕לֶּה שָׂרֵ֖י שִׁבְטֵ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃
ledan azar'el ben-yerocham elle sare shivte yisra'el
of Dan, Azarel the son of Jeroham. These were the captains of the tribes of Israel.
23וְלֹא־נָשָׂ֤א דָוִיד֙ מִסְפָּרָ֔ם לְמִבֶּ֛ן עֶשְׂרִ֥ים שָׁנָ֖ה וּלְמָ֑טָּה כִּ֚י אָמַ֣ר יְהוָ֔ה לְהַרְבּ֥וֹת אֶת־יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל כְּכוֹכְבֵ֥י הַשָּׁמָֽיִם׃
velo-nasa david misparam lemibben esrim shana ulematta ki amar ADONAI leharbot et-yisra'el kekhokhve hashamayim
But David took not the number of them from twenty years old and under; because the LORD had said He would increase Israel like to the stars of heaven.
24יוֹאָ֨ב בֶּן־צְרוּיָ֜ה הֵחֵ֤ל לִמְנוֹת֙ וְלֹ֣א כִלָּ֔ה וַיְהִ֥י בָזֹ֛את קֶ֖צֶף עַל־יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל וְלֹ֤א עָלָה֙ הַמִּסְפָּ֔ר בְּמִסְפַּ֥ר דִּבְרֵֽי־הַיָּמִ֖ים לַמֶּ֥לֶךְ דָּוִֽיד׃
yo'av ben-tzeruya hechel limnot velo khilla vayhi vazot ketzef al-yisra'el velo ala hammispar bemispar divre-hayyamim lammelekh david
Joab the son of Zeruiah began to number, but finished not; and there came wrath for this upon Israel; neither was the number put into the account in the chronicles of king David.
25וְעַל֙ אֹצְר֣וֹת הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ עַזְמָ֖וֶת בֶּן־עֲדִיאֵ֑ל וְעַ֣ל הָֽאֹצָר֡וֹת בַּשָּׂדֶ֞ה בֶּעָרִ֤ים וּבַכְּפָרִים֙ וּבַמִּגְדָּל֔וֹת יְהוֹנָתָ֖ן בֶּן־עֻזִּיָּֽהוּ׃
ve'al otzrot hammelekh azmavet ben-adi'el ve'al ha'otzarot bassade be'arim uvakkefarim uvammigdalot yehonatan ben-uzziyyahu
And over the king’s treasuries was Azmaveth the son of Adiel; and over the treasuries in the fields, in the cities, and in the villages, and in the towers, was Jonathan the son of Uzziah;
26וְעַ֗ל עֹשֵׂי֙ מְלֶ֣אכֶת הַשָּׂדֶ֔ה לַעֲבֹדַ֖ת הָאֲדָמָ֑ה עֶזְרִ֖י בֶּן־כְּלֽוּב׃
ve'al ose melekhet hassade la'avodat ha'adama ezri ben-keluv
and over them that did the work of the field for tillage of the ground was Ezri the son of Chelub;
27וְעַל־הַ֨כְּרָמִ֔ים שִׁמְעִ֖י הָרָֽמָתִ֑י וְעַ֤ל שֶׁבַּכְּרָמִים֙ לְאֹצְר֣וֹת הַיַּ֔יִן זַבְדִּ֖י הַשִּׁפְמִֽי׃
ve'al-hakkeramim shim'i haramati ve'al shebbakkeramim le'otzrot hayyayin zavdi hashifmi
and over the vineyards was Shimei the Ramathite; and over the increase of the vineyards for the wine-cellars was Zabdi the Shiphmite;
28וְעַל־הַזֵּיתִ֤ים וְהַשִּׁקְמִים֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר בַּשְּׁפֵלָ֔ה בַּ֥עַל חָנָ֖ן הַגְּדֵרִ֑י וְעַל־אֹצְר֥וֹת הַשֶּׁ֖מֶן יוֹעָֽשׁ׃
ve'al-hazzetim vehashikmim asher bashefela ba'al chanan haggederi ve'al-otzrot hashemen yo'ash
and over the olive-trees and the sycomore-trees that were in the Lowland was Baal-hanan the Gederite; and over the cellars of oil was Joash;
29וְעַל־הַבָּקָר֙ הָרֹעִ֣ים בַּשָּׁר֔וֹן שטרי [שִׁרְטַ֖י] הַשָּׁרוֹנִ֑י וְעַל־הַבָּקָר֙ בָּֽעֲמָקִ֔ים שָׁפָ֖ט בֶּן־עַדְלָֽי׃
ve'al-habbakar haro'im basharon shirtay hasharoni ve'al-habbakar ba'amakim shafat ben-adlay
and over the herds that fed in Sharon was Shirtai the Sharonite; and over the herds that were in the valleys was Shaphat the son of Adlai;
30וְעַל־הַ֨גְּמַלִּ֔ים אוֹבִ֖יל הַיִּשְׁמְעֵלִ֑י וְעַל־הָ֣אֲתֹנ֔וֹת יֶחְדְּיָ֖הוּ הַמֵּרֹנֹתִֽי׃
ve'al-haggemallim ovil hayyishme'eli ve'al-ha'atonot yechdeyahu hammeronoti
and over the camels was Obil the Ishmaelite; and over the asses was Jehdeiah the Meronothite;
31וְעַל־הַצֹּ֖אן יָזִ֣יז הַֽהַגְרִ֑י כָּל־אֵ֨לֶּה֙ שָׂרֵ֣י הָרְכ֔וּשׁ אֲשֶׁ֖ר לַמֶּ֥לֶךְ דָּוִֽיד׃
ve'al-hatzon yaziz hahagri kal-elle sare harkhush asher lammelekh david
and over the flocks was Jaziz the Hagrite. All these were the rulers of the substance which was king David’s.
32וִֽיהוֹנָתָ֤ן דּוֹד־דָּוִיד֙ יוֹעֵ֔ץ אִישׁ־מֵבִ֥ין וְסוֹפֵ֖ר ה֑וּא וִֽיחִיאֵ֥ל בֶּן־חַכְמוֹנִ֖י עִם־בְּנֵ֥י הַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃
vihonatan dod-david yo'etz ish-mevin vesofer hu vichi'el ben-chakhmoni im-bene hammelekh
Also Jonathan David’s uncle was a counsellor, a man of understanding, and a scribe; and Jehiel the son of Hachmoni was with the king’s sons;
33וַאֲחִיתֹ֖פֶל יוֹעֵ֣ץ לַמֶּ֑לֶךְ וְחוּשַׁ֥י הָאַרְכִּ֖י רֵ֥עַ הַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃
va'achitofel yo'etz lammelekh vechushay ha'arki rea hammelekh
and Ahithophel was the king’s counsellor; and Hushai the Archite was the king’s friend;
34וְאַחֲרֵ֣י אֲחִיתֹ֗פֶל יְהוֹיָדָ֤ע בֶּן־בְּנָיָ֨הוּ֙ וְאֶבְיָתָ֔ר וְשַׂר־צָבָ֥א לַמֶּ֖לֶךְ יוֹאָֽב׃
ve'achare achitofel yehoyada' ben-benayahu ve'evyatar vesar-tzava lammelekh yo'av
and after Ahithophel was Jehoiada the son of Benaiah, and Abiathar; and the captain of the king’s host was Joab.
