¹וַיְדַבֵּ֥ר יְהוָ֖ה אֶל־מֹשֶׁ֥ה לֵּאמֹֽר׃

vaydabber ADONAI el-moshe lemor

And the LORD spoke unto Moses, saying:

²צַ֞ו אֶת־בְּנֵ֤י יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ וְאָמַרְתָּ֣ אֲלֵהֶ֔ם כִּֽי־אַתֶּ֥ם בָּאִ֖ים אֶל־הָאָ֣רֶץ כְּנָ֑עַן זֹ֣את הָאָ֗רֶץ אֲשֶׁ֨ר תִּפֹּ֤ל לָכֶם֙ בְּֽנַחֲלָ֔ה אֶ֥רֶץ כְּנַ֖עַן לִגְבֻלֹתֶֽיהָ׃

tzav et-bene yisra'el ve'amarta alehem ki-attem ba'im el-ha'aretz kena'an zot ha'aretz asher tippol lakhem benachala eretz kena'an ligvuloteha

’Command the children of Israel, and say unto them: When ye come into the land of Canaan, this shall be the land that shall fall unto you for an inheritance, even the land of Canaan according to the borders thereof.

³וְהָיָ֨ה לָכֶ֧ם פְּאַת־נֶ֛גֶב מִמִּדְבַּר־צִ֖ן עַל־יְדֵ֣י אֱד֑וֹם וְהָיָ֤ה לָכֶם֙ גְּב֣וּל נֶ֔גֶב מִקְצֵ֥ה יָם־הַמֶּ֖לַח קֵֽדְמָה׃

vehaya lakhem pe'at-negev mimmidbar-tzin al-yede edom vehaya lakhem gevul negev miktze yam-hammelach kedma

Thus your south side shall be from the wilderness of Zin close by the side of Edom, and your south border shall begin at the end of the Salt Sea eastward;

⁴וְנָסַ֣ב לָכֶם֩ הַגְּב֨וּל מִנֶּ֜גֶב לְמַעֲלֵ֤ה עַקְרַבִּים֙ וְעָ֣בַר צִ֔נָה והיה [וְהָיוּ֙] תּֽוֹצְאֹתָ֔יו מִנֶּ֖גֶב לְקָדֵ֣שׁ בַּרְנֵ֑עַ וְיָצָ֥א חֲצַר־אַדָּ֖ר וְעָבַ֥ר עַצְמֹֽנָה׃

venasav lakhem haggevul minnegev lema'ale akrabbim ve'avar tzina vehayu totz'otav minnegev lekadesh barnea veyatza chatzar-addar ve'avar atzmona

and your border shall turn about southward of the ascent of Akrabbim, and pass along to Zin; and the goings out thereof shall be southward of Kadesh-barnea; and it shall go forth to Hazar-addar, and pass along to Azmon;

⁵וְנָסַ֧ב הַגְּב֛וּל מֵעַצְמ֖וֹן נַ֣חְלָה מִצְרָ֑יִם וְהָי֥וּ תוֹצְאֹתָ֖יו הַיָּֽמָּה׃

venasav haggevul me'atzmon nachla mitzrayim vehayu totz'otav hayyamma

and the border shall turn about from Azmon unto the Brook of Egypt, and the goings out thereof shall be at the Sea.

⁶וּגְב֣וּל יָ֔ם וְהָיָ֥ה לָכֶ֛ם הַיָּ֥ם הַגָּד֖וֹל וּגְב֑וּל זֶֽה־יִהְיֶ֥ה לָכֶ֖ם גְּב֥וּל יָֽם׃

ugevul yam vehaya lakhem hayyam haggadol ugevul ze-yihye lakhem gevul yam

And for the western border, ye shall have the Great Sea for a border; this shall be your west border.

⁷וְזֶֽה־יִהְיֶ֥ה לָכֶ֖ם גְּב֣וּל צָפ֑וֹן מִן־הַיָּם֙ הַגָּדֹ֔ל תְּתָא֥וּ לָכֶ֖ם הֹ֥ר הָהָֽר׃

veze-yihye lakhem gevul tzafon min-hayyam haggadol tetau lakhem hor hahar

And this shall be your north border: from the Great Sea ye shall mark out your line unto mount Hor;

⁸מֵהֹ֣ר הָהָ֔ר תְּתָא֖וּ לְבֹ֣א חֲמָ֑ת וְהָי֛וּ תּוֹצְאֹ֥ת הַגְּבֻ֖ל צְדָֽדָה׃

mehor hahar tetau levo chamat vehayu totz'ot haggevul tzedada

from mount Hor ye shall mark out a line unto the entrance to Hamath; and the goings out of the border shall be at Zedad;

⁹וְיָצָ֤א הַגְּבֻל֙ זִפְרֹ֔נָה וְהָי֥וּ תוֹצְאֹתָ֖יו חֲצַ֣ר עֵינָ֑ן זֶֽה־יִהְיֶ֥ה לָכֶ֖ם גְּב֥וּל צָפֽוֹן׃

veyatza haggevul zifrona vehayu totz'otav chatzar enan ze-yihye lakhem gevul tzafon

and the border shall go forth to Ziphron, and the goings out thereof shall be at Hazar-enan; this shall be your north border.

¹⁰וְהִתְאַוִּיתֶ֥ם לָכֶ֖ם לִגְב֣וּל קֵ֑דְמָה מֵחֲצַ֥ר עֵינָ֖ן שְׁפָֽמָה׃

vehit'avvitem lakhem ligvul kedma mechatzar enan shefama

And ye shall mark out your line for the east border from Hazar-enan to Shepham;

¹¹וְיָרַ֨ד הַגְּבֻ֧ל מִשְּׁפָ֛ם הָרִבְלָ֖ה מִקֶּ֣דֶם לָעָ֑יִן וְיָרַ֣ד הַגְּב֔וּל וּמָחָ֛ה עַל־כֶּ֥תֶף יָם־כִּנֶּ֖רֶת קֵֽדְמָה׃

veyarad haggevul mishefam harivla mikkedem la'ayin veyarad haggevul umacha al-ketef yam-kinneret kedma

and the border shall go down from Shepham to Riblah, on the east side of Ain; and the border shall go down, and shall strike upon the slope of the sea of Chinnereth eastward;

¹²וְיָרַ֤ד הַגְּבוּל֙ הַיַּרְדֵּ֔נָה וְהָי֥וּ תוֹצְאֹתָ֖יו יָ֣ם הַמֶּ֑לַח זֹאת֩ תִּהְיֶ֨ה לָכֶ֥ם הָאָ֛רֶץ לִגְבֻלֹתֶ֖יהָ סָבִֽיב׃

veyarad haggevul hayyardena vehayu totz'otav yam hammelach zot tihye lakhem ha'aretz ligvuloteha saviv

and the border shall go down to the Jordan, and the goings out thereof shall be at the Salt Sea; this shall be your land according to the borders thereof round about.’

¹³וַיְצַ֣ו מֹשֶׁ֔ה אֶת־בְּנֵ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל לֵאמֹ֑ר זֹ֣את הָאָ֗רֶץ אֲשֶׁ֨ר תִּתְנַחֲל֤וּ אֹתָהּ֙ בְּגוֹרָ֔ל אֲשֶׁר֙ צִוָּ֣ה יְהוָ֔ה לָתֵ֛ת לְתִשְׁעַ֥ת הַמַּטּ֖וֹת וַחֲצִ֥י הַמַּטֶּֽה׃

vaytzav moshe et-bene yisra'el lemor zot ha'aretz asher titnachalu otah begoral asher tzivva ADONAI latet letish'at hammattot vachatzi hammatte

And Moses commanded the children of Israel, saying: ‘This is the land wherein ye shall receive inheritance by lot, which the LORD hath commanded to give unto the nine tribes, and to the half-tribe;

¹⁴כִּ֣י לָקְח֞וּ מַטֵּ֨ה בְנֵ֤י הָראוּבֵנִי֙ לְבֵ֣ית אֲבֹתָ֔ם וּמַטֵּ֥ה בְנֵֽי־הַגָּדִ֖י לְבֵ֣ית אֲבֹתָ֑ם וַחֲצִי֙ מַטֵּ֣ה מְנַשֶּׁ֔ה לָקְח֖וּ נַחֲלָתָֽם׃

ki lakchu matte vene haruveni levet avotam umatte vene-haggadi levet avotam vachatzi matte menashe lakchu nachalatam

for the tribe of the children of Reuben according to their fathers’houses, and the tribe of the children of Gad according to their fathers’houses, have received, and the half-tribe of Manasseh have received, their inheritance;

¹⁵שְׁנֵ֥י הַמַּטּ֖וֹת וַחֲצִ֣י הַמַּטֶּ֑ה לָקְח֣וּ נַחֲלָתָ֗ם מֵעֵ֛בֶר לְיַרְדֵּ֥ן יְרֵח֖וֹ קֵ֥דְמָה מִזְרָֽחָה׃

shene hammattot vachatzi hammatte lakchu nachalatam me'ever leyarden yerecho kedma mizracha

the two tribes and the half-tribe have received their inheritance beyond the Jordan at Jericho eastward, toward the sun-rising.’

¹⁶וַיְדַבֵּ֥ר יְהוָ֖ה אֶל־מֹשֶׁ֥ה לֵּאמֹֽר׃

vaydabber ADONAI el-moshe lemor

And the LORD spoke unto Moses, saying:

¹⁷אֵ֚לֶּה שְׁמ֣וֹת הָֽאֲנָשִׁ֔ים אֲשֶׁר־יִנְחֲל֥וּ לָכֶ֖ם אֶת־הָאָ֑רֶץ אֶלְעָזָר֙ הַכֹּהֵ֔ן וִיהוֹשֻׁ֖עַ בִּן־נֽוּן׃

elle shemot ha'anashim asher-yinchalu lakhem et-ha'aretz el'azar hakkohen vihoshua bin-nun

’These are the names of the men that shall take possession of the land for you: Eleazar the priest, and Joshua the son of Nun.

¹⁸וְנָשִׂ֥יא אֶחָ֛ד נָשִׂ֥יא אֶחָ֖ד מִמַּטֶּ֑ה תִּקְח֖וּ לִנְחֹ֥ל אֶת־הָאָֽרֶץ׃

venasi echad nasi echad mimmatte tikchu linchol et-ha'aretz

And ye shall take one prince of every tribe, to take possession of the land.

¹⁹וְאֵ֖לֶּה שְׁמ֣וֹת הָאֲנָשִׁ֑ים לְמַטֵּ֣ה יְהוּדָ֔ה כָּלֵ֖ב בֶּן־יְפֻנֶּֽה׃

ve'elle shemot ha'anashim lematte yehuda kalev ben-yefunne

And these are the names of the men: of the tribe of Judah, Caleb the son of Jephunneh.

²⁰וּלְמַטֵּה֙ בְּנֵ֣י שִׁמְע֔וֹן שְׁמוּאֵ֖ל בֶּן־עַמִּיהֽוּד׃

ulematte bene shim'on shemu'el ben-ammihud

And of the tribe of the children of Simeon, Shemuel the son of Ammihud.

²¹לְמַטֵּ֣ה בִנְיָמִ֔ן אֱלִידָ֖ד בֶּן־כִּסְלֽוֹן׃

lematte vinyamin elidad ben-kislon

Of the tribe of Benjamin, Elidad the son of Chislon.

²²וּלְמַטֵּ֥ה בְנֵי־דָ֖ן נָשִׂ֑יא בֻּקִּ֖י בֶּן־יָגְלִֽי׃

ulematte vene-dan nasi bukki ben-yagli

And of the tribe of the children of Dan a prince, Bukki the son of Jogli.

²³לִבְנֵ֣י יוֹסֵ֔ף לְמַטֵּ֥ה בְנֵֽי־מְנַשֶּׁ֖ה נָשִׂ֑יא חַנִּיאֵ֖ל בֶּן־אֵפֹֽד׃

livne yosef lematte vene-menashe nasi channi'el ben-efod

Of the children of Joseph: of the tribe of the children of Manasseh a prince, Hanniel the son of Ephod;

²⁴וּלְמַטֵּ֥ה בְנֵֽי־אֶפְרַ֖יִם נָשִׂ֑יא קְמוּאֵ֖ל בֶּן־שִׁפְטָֽן׃

ulematte vene-efrayim nasi kemu'el ben-shiftan

and of the tribe of the children of Ephraim a prince, Kemuel the son of Shiphtan.

²⁵וּלְמַטֵּ֥ה בְנֵֽי־זְבוּלֻ֖ן נָשִׂ֑יא אֱלִיצָפָ֖ן בֶּן־פַּרְנָֽךְ׃

ulematte vene-zevulun nasi elitzafan ben-parnakh

And of the tribe of the children of Zebulun a prince, Eli-zaphan the son of Parnach.

²⁶וּלְמַטֵּ֥ה בְנֵֽי־יִשָׂשכָ֖ר נָשִׂ֑יא פַּלְטִיאֵ֖ל בֶּן־עַזָּֽן׃

ulematte vene-yisashkhar nasi palti'el ben-azzan

And of the tribe of the children of Issachar a prince, Paltiel the son of Azzan.

²⁷וּלְמַטֵּ֥ה בְנֵי־אָשֵׁ֖ר נָשִׂ֑יא אֲחִיה֖וּד בֶּן־שְׁלֹמִֽי׃

ulematte vene-asher nasi achihud ben-shelomi

And of the tribe of the children of Asher a prince, Ahihud the son of Shelomi.

²⁸וּלְמַטֵּ֥ה בְנֵֽי־נַפְתָּלִ֖י נָשִׂ֑יא פְּדַהְאֵ֖ל בֶּן־עַמִּיהֽוּד׃

ulematte vene-naftali nasi pedah'el ben-ammihud

And of the tribe of the children of Naphtali a prince, Pedahel the son of Ammihud.

²⁹אֵ֕לֶּה אֲשֶׁ֖ר צִוָּ֣ה יְהוָ֑ה לְנַחֵ֥ל אֶת־בְּנֵֽי־יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל בְּאֶ֥רֶץ כְּנָֽעַן׃

elle asher tzivva ADONAI lenachel et-bene-yisra'el be'eretz kena'an

These are they whom the LORD commanded to divide the inheritance unto the children of Israel in the land of Canaan.’

¹The LORD spoke to Moses, saying,

²“Command the children of Israel, and tell them, ‘When you come into the land of Canaan (this is the land that shall fall to you for an inheritance, even the land of Canaan according to its borders),

³then your south quarter shall be from the wilderness of Zin along by the side of Edom, and your south border shall be from the end of the Salt Sea eastward.

⁴Your border shall turn about southward of the ascent of Akrabbim, and pass along to Zin; and it shall pass southward of Kadesh Barnea; and it shall go from there to Hazar Addar, and pass along to Azmon.

⁵The border shall turn about from Azmon to the brook of Egypt, and it shall end at the sea.

⁶“‘For the western border, you shall have the great sea and its border. This shall be your west border.

⁷“‘This shall be your north border: from the great sea you shall mark out for yourselves Mount Hor.

⁸From Mount Hor you shall mark out to the entrance of Hamath; and the border shall pass by Zedad.

⁹Then the border shall go to Ziphron, and it shall end at Hazar Enan. This shall be your north border.

¹⁰“‘You shall mark out your east border from Hazar Enan to Shepham.

¹¹The border shall go down from Shepham to Riblah, on the east side of Ain. The border shall go down, and shall reach to the side of the sea of Chinnereth eastward.

¹²The border shall go down to the Jordan, and end at the Salt Sea. This shall be your land according to its borders around it.’”

¹³Moses commanded the children of Israel, saying, “This is the land which you shall inherit by lot, which the LORD has commanded to give to the nine tribes, and to the half-tribe;

¹⁴for the tribe of the children of Reuben according to their fathers’ houses, the tribe of the children of Gad according to their fathers’ houses, and the half-tribe of Manasseh have received their inheritance.

¹⁵The two tribes and the half-tribe have received their inheritance beyond the Jordan at Jericho eastward, toward the sunrise.”

¹⁶The LORD spoke to Moses, saying,

¹⁷“These are the names of the men who shall divide the land to you for inheritance: Eleazar the priest, and Joshua the son of Nun.

¹⁸You shall take one prince of every tribe, to divide the land for inheritance.

¹⁹These are the names of the men: Of the tribe of Judah, Caleb the son of Jephunneh.

²⁰Of the tribe of the children of Simeon, Shemuel the son of Ammihud.

²¹Of the tribe of Benjamin, Elidad the son of Chislon.

²²Of the tribe of the children of Dan a prince, Bukki the son of Jogli.
