¹וְכָל־יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ הִתְיַחְשׂ֔וּ וְהִנָּ֣ם כְּתוּבִ֔ים עַל־סֵ֖פֶר מַלְכֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל וִיהוּדָ֛ה הָגְל֥וּ לְבָבֶ֖ל בְּמַעֲלָֽם׃

vekhal-yisra'el hityachsu vehinnam ketuvim al-sefer malkhe yisra'el vihuda haglu levavel bema'alam

So all Israel were reckoned by genealogies; and, behold, they are written in the book of the kings of Israel; and Judah was carried away captive to Babylon because of their transgression.

²וְהַיּוֹשְׁבִים֙ הָרִ֣אשֹׁנִ֔ים אֲשֶׁ֥ר בַּאֲחֻזָּתָ֖ם בְּעָרֵיהֶ֑ם יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ הַכֹּ֣הֲנִ֔ים הַלְוִיִּ֖ם וְהַנְּתִינִֽים׃

vehayyoshvim harishonim asher ba'achuzzatam be'arehem yisra'el hakkohanim halviyyim vehannetinim

Now the first inhabitants that dwelt in their possessions in their cities were, Israelites, the priests, the Levites, and the Nethinim.

³וּבִירוּשָׁלִַ֨ם֙ יָשְׁב֔וּ מִן־בְּנֵ֥י יְהוּדָ֖ה וּמִן־בְּנֵ֣י בִנְיָמִ֑ן וּמִן־בְּנֵ֥י אֶפְרַ֖יִם וּמְנַשֶּֽׁה׃

uvirushalam yashvu min-bene yehuda umin-bene vinyamin umin-bene efrayim umenashe

And in Jerusalem dwelt of the children of Judah, and of the children of Benjamin, and of the children of Ephraim and Manasseh:

⁴עוּתַ֨י בֶּן־עַמִּיה֤וּד בֶּן־עָמְרִי֙ בֶּן־אִמְרִ֣י בֶן־בנימן [בָּנִ֔י מִן]־בְּנֵי־פֶ֖רֶץ בֶּן־יְהוּדָֽה׃

utay ben-ammihud ben-amri ben-imri ven-bani min-bene-feretz ben-yehuda

Uthai the son of Ammihud, the son of Omri, the son of Imri, the son of Bani, of the children of Perez the son of Judah.

⁵וּמִן־הַשִּׁ֣ילוֹנִ֔י עֲשָׂיָ֥ה הַבְּכ֖וֹר וּבָנָֽיו׃

umin-hashiloni asaya habbekhor uvanav

And of the Shilonites: Asaiah the first-born and his sons.

⁶וּמִן־בְּנֵי־זֶ֖רַח יְעוּאֵ֑ל וַאֲחֵיהֶ֖ם שֵׁשׁ־מֵא֥וֹת וְתִשְׁעִֽים׃

umin-bene-zerach ye'u'el va'achehem shesh-meot vetish'im

And of the sons of Zerah: Jeuel, and their brethren, six hundred and ninety.

⁷וּמִן־בְּנֵ֖י בִּנְיָמִ֑ן סַלּוּא֙ בֶּן־מְשֻׁלָּ֔ם בֶּן־הוֹדַוְיָ֖ה בֶּן־הַסְּנֻאָֽה׃

umin-bene binyamin sallu ben-meshullam ben-hodavya ben-hassenu'a

And of the sons of Benjamin: Sallu the son of Meshullam, the son of Hodaviah, the son of Hassenuah,

⁸וְיִבְנְיָה֙ בֶּן־יְרֹחָ֔ם וְאֵלָ֥ה בֶן־עֻזִּ֖י בֶּן־מִכְרִ֑י וּמְשֻׁלָּם֙ בֶּן־שְׁפַטְיָ֔ה בֶּן־רְעוּאֵ֖ל בֶּן־יִבְנִיָּֽה׃

veyivneya ben-yerocham ve'ela ven-uzzi ben-mikhri umeshullam ben-shefatya ben-re'u'el ben-yivniyya

and Ibneiah the son of Jeroham, and Elah the son of Uzzi, the son of Michri, and Meshullam the son of Shephatiah, the son of Reuel, the son of Ibneiah;

⁹וַאֲחֵיהֶם֙ לְתֹ֣לְדוֹתָ֔ם תְּשַׁ֥ע מֵא֖וֹת וַחֲמִשִּׁ֣ים וְשִׁשָּׁ֑ה כָּל־אֵ֣לֶּה אֲנָשִׁ֔ים רָאשֵׁ֥י אָב֖וֹת לְבֵ֥ית אֲבֹתֵיהֶֽם׃

va'achehem letoldotam tesha' meot vachamishim veshisha kal-elle anashim rashe avot levet avotehem

and their brethren, according to their generations, nine hundred and fifty and six. All these men were heads of fathers’houses by their fathers’houses.

¹⁰וּמִן־הַֽכֹּהֲנִ֑ים יְדַֽעְיָ֥ה וִיהוֹיָרִ֖יב וְיָכִֽין׃

umin-hakkohanim yeda'ya vihoyariv veyakhin

And of the priests: Jedaiah, and Jehoiarib, and Jachin;

¹¹וַעֲזַרְיָ֨ה בֶן־חִלְקִיָּ֜ה בֶּן־מְשֻׁלָּ֣ם בֶּן־צָד֗וֹק בֶּן־מְרָיוֹת֙ בֶּן־אֲחִיט֔וּב נְגִ֖יד בֵּ֥ית הָאֱלֹהִֽים׃

va'azarya ven-chilkiyya ben-meshullam ben-tzadok ben-merayot ben-achituv negid bet ha'elohim

and Azariah the son of Hilkiah, the son of Meshullam, the son of Zadok, the son of Meraioth, the son of Ahitub, the ruler of the house of God;

¹²וַעֲדָיָה֙ בֶּן־יְרֹחָ֔ם בֶּן־פַּשְׁח֖וּר בֶּן־מַלְכִּיָּ֑ה וּמַעְשַׂ֨י בֶּן־עֲדִיאֵ֧ל בֶּן־יַחְזֵ֛רָה בֶּן־מְשֻׁלָּ֥ם בֶּן־מְשִׁלֵּמִ֖ית בֶּן־אִמֵּֽר׃

va'adaya ben-yerocham ben-pashchur ben-malkiyya uma'say ben-adi'el ben-yachzera ben-meshullam ben-meshillemit ben-immer

and Adaiah the son of Jeroham, the son of Pashhur, the son of Malchijah, and Maasai the son of Adiel, the son of Jahzerah, the son of Meshullam, the son of Meshillemith, the son of Immer;

¹³וַאֲחֵיהֶ֗ם רָאשִׁים֙ לְבֵ֣ית אֲבוֹתָ֔ם אֶ֕לֶף וּשְׁבַ֥ע מֵא֖וֹת וְשִׁשִּׁ֑ים גִּבּ֣וֹרֵי חֵ֔יל מְלֶ֖אכֶת עֲבוֹדַ֥ת בֵּית־הָאֱלֹהִֽים׃

va'achehem rashim levet avotam elef usheva' meot veshishim gibbore chel melekhet avodat bet-ha'elohim

and their brethren, heads of their fathers’houses, a thousand and seven hundred and threescore; very able men for the work of the service of the house of God.

¹⁴וּמִֽן־הַלְוִיִּ֑ם שְׁמַֽעְיָ֧ה בֶן־חַשּׁ֛וּב בֶּן־עַזְרִיקָ֥ם בֶּן־חֲשַׁבְיָ֖ה מִן־בְּנֵ֥י מְרָרִֽי׃

umin-halviyyim shema'ya ven-chashuv ben-azrikam ben-chashavya min-bene merari

And of the Levites: Shemaiah the son of Hasshub, the son of Azrikam, the son of Hashabiah, of the sons of Merari;

¹⁵וּבַקְבַּקַּ֥ר חֶ֖רֶשׁ וְגָלָ֑ל וּמַתַּנְיָה֙ בֶּן־מִיכָ֔א בֶּן־זִכְרִ֖י בֶּן־אָסָֽף׃

uvakbakkar cheresh vegalal umattanya ben-mikha ben-zikhri ben-asaf

and Bakbakkar, Heresh, and Galal, and Mattaniah the son of Mica, the son of Zichri, the son of Asaph;

¹⁶וְעֹבַדְיָה֙ בֶּֽן־שְׁמַֽעְיָ֔ה בֶּן־גָּלָ֖ל בֶּן־יְדוּת֑וּן וּבֶרֶכְיָ֤ה בֶן־אָסָא֙ בֶּן־אֶלְקָנָ֔ה הַיּוֹשֵׁ֖ב בְּחַצְרֵ֥י נְטוֹפָתִֽי׃

ve'ovadya ben-shema'ya ben-galal ben-yedutun uverekhya ven-asa ben-elkana hayyoshev bechatzre netofati

and Obadiah the son of Shemaiah, the son of Galal, the son of Jeduthun, and Berechiah the son of Asa, the son of Elkanah, that dwelt in the villages of the Netophathites. .

¹⁷וְהַשֹּׁעֲרִים֙ שַׁלּ֣וּם וְעַקּ֔וּב וְטַלְמֹ֖ן וַאֲחִימָ֑ן וַאֲחִיהֶ֥ם שַׁלּ֖וּם הָרֹֽאשׁ׃

vehasho'arim shallum ve'akkuv vetalmon va'achiman va'achihem shallum harosh

And the porters: Shallum, and Akkub, and Talmon, and Ahiman, and their brother Shallum the chief;

¹⁸וְֽעַד־הֵ֔נָּה בְּשַׁ֥עַר הַמֶּ֖לֶךְ מִזְרָ֑חָה הֵ֚מָּה הַשֹּׁ֣עֲרִ֔ים לְמַחֲנ֖וֹת בְּנֵ֥י לֵוִֽי׃

ve'ad-henna besha'ar hammelekh mizracha hemma hasho'arim lemachanot bene levi

who hitherto waited in the king’s gate eastward; they were the porters for the camp of the children of Levi.

¹⁹וְשַׁלּ֣וּם בֶּן־ק֠וֹרֵא בֶּן־אֶבְיָסָ֨ף בֶּן־קֹ֜רַח וְֽאֶחָ֧יו לְבֵית־אָבִ֣יו הַקָּרְחִ֗ים עַ֚ל מְלֶ֣אכֶת הָעֲבוֹדָ֔ה שֹׁמְרֵ֥י הַסִּפִּ֖ים לָאֹ֑הֶל וַאֲבֹֽתֵיהֶם֙ עַל־מַחֲנֵ֣ה יְהוָ֔ה שֹׁמְרֵ֖י הַמָּבֽוֹא׃

veshallum ben-kore ben-evyasaf ben-korach ve'echav levet-aviv hakkarchim al melekhet ha'avoda shomre hassippim la'ohel va'avotehem al-machane ADONAI shomre hammavo

And Shallum the son of Kore, the son of Ebiasaph, the son of Korah, and his brethren, of his father’s house, the Korahites, were over the work of the service, keepers of the gates of the Tent; and their fathers had been over the camp of the LORD, keepers of the entry;

²⁰וּפִֽינְחָ֣ס בֶּן־אֶלְעָזָ֗ר נָגִ֨יד הָיָ֧ה עֲלֵיהֶ֛ם לְפָנִ֖ים יְהוָ֥ה ׀ עִמּֽוֹ׃

ufinchas ben-el'azar nagid haya alehem lefanim ADONAI immo

and Phinehas the son of Eleazar was ruler over them in time past, the LORD being with him.

²¹זְכַרְיָה֙ בֶּ֣ן מְשֶֽׁלֶמְיָ֔ה שֹׁעֵ֥ר פֶּ֖תַח לְאֹ֥הֶל מוֹעֵֽד׃

zekharya ben meshelemya sho'er petach le'ohel mo'ed

Zechariah the son of Meshelemiah was porter of the door of the tent of meeting.

²²כֻּלָּ֤ם הַבְּרוּרִים֙ לְשֹׁעֲרִ֣ים בַּסִּפִּ֔ים מָאתַ֖יִם וּשְׁנֵ֣ים עָשָׂ֑ר הֵ֤מָּה בְחַצְרֵיהֶם֙ הִתְיַחְשָׂ֔ם הֵ֣מָּה יִסַּ֥ד דָּוִ֛יד וּשְׁמוּאֵ֥ל הָרֹאֶ֖ה בֶּאֱמוּנָתָֽם׃

kullam habberurim lesho'arim bassippim matayim ushenem asar hemma vechatzrehem hityachsam hemma yissad david ushemu'el haro'e be'emunatam

All these that were chosen to be porters in the gates were two hundred and twelve. These were reckoned by genealogy in their villages, whom David and Samuel the seer did ordain in their set office.

²³וְהֵ֨ם וּבְנֵיהֶ֜ם עַל־הַשְּׁעָרִ֧ים לְבֵית־יְהוָ֛ה לְבֵ֥ית־הָאֹ֖הֶל לְמִשְׁמָרֽוֹת׃

vehem uvenehem al-hashe'arim levet-ADONAI levet-ha'ohel lemishmarot

So they and their children had the oversight of the gates of the house of the LORD, even the house of the Tent, by wards.

²⁴לְאַרְבַּ֣ע רוּח֔וֹת יִהְי֖וּ הַשֹּׁעֲרִ֑ים מִזְרָ֥ח יָ֖מָּה צָפ֥וֹנָה וָנֶֽגְבָּה׃

le'arba' ruchot yihyu hasho'arim mizrach yamma tzafona vanegba

On the four sides were the porters, toward the east, west, north, and south.

²⁵וַאֲחֵיהֶ֨ם בְּחַצְרֵיהֶ֜ם לָב֨וֹא לְשִׁבְעַ֧ת הַיָּמִ֛ים מֵעֵ֥ת אֶל־עֵ֖ת עִם־אֵֽלֶּה׃

va'achehem bechatzrehem lavo leshiv'at hayyamim me'et el-et im-elle

And their brethren, in their villages, were to come in every seven days from time to time to be with them;

²⁶כִּ֣י בֶאֱמוּנָ֞ה הֵ֗מָּה אַרְבַּ֨עַת֙ גִּבֹּרֵ֣י הַשֹּׁעֲרִ֔ים הֵ֖ם הַלְוִיִּ֑ם וְהָיוּ֙ עַל־הַלְּשָׁכ֔וֹת וְעַ֥ל הָאֹצְר֖וֹת בֵּ֥ית הָאֱלֹהִֽים׃

ki ve'emuna hemma arba'at gibbore hasho'arim hem halviyyim vehayu al-halleshakhot ve'al ha'otzrot bet ha'elohim

for the four chief porters were in a set office. These were the Levites. They were also over the chambers and over the treasuries in the house of God.

²⁷וּסְבִיב֥וֹת בֵּית־הָאֱלֹהִ֖ים יָלִ֑ינוּ כִּֽי־עֲלֵיהֶ֣ם מִשְׁמֶ֔רֶת וְהֵ֥ם עַל־הַמַּפְתֵּ֖חַ וְלַבֹּ֥קֶר לַבֹּֽקֶר׃

usevivot bet-ha'elohim yalinu ki-alehem mishmeret vehem al-hammafteach velabboker labboker

And they lodged round about the house of God, because the charge thereof was upon them, and to them pertained the opening thereof morning by morning.

²⁸וּמֵהֶ֖ם עַל־כְּלֵ֣י הָעֲבוֹדָ֑ה כִּֽי־בְמִסְפָּ֣ר יְבִיא֔וּם וּבְמִסְפָּ֖ר יוֹצִיאֽוּם׃

umehem al-kele ha'avoda ki-vemispar yevium uvemispar yotzium

And certain of them had charge of the vessels of service; for by tale were they brought in and by tale were they taken out.

²⁹וּמֵהֶ֗ם מְמֻנִּים֙ עַל־הַכֵּלִ֔ים וְעַ֖ל כָּל־כְּלֵ֣י הַקֹּ֑דֶשׁ וְעַל־הַסֹּ֨לֶת֙ וְהַיַּ֣יִן וְהַשֶּׁ֔מֶן וְהַלְּבוֹנָ֖ה וְהַבְּשָׂמִֽים׃

umehem memunnim al-hakkelim ve'al kal-kele hakkodesh ve'al-hassolet vehayyayin vehashemen vehallevona vehabbesamim

Some of them also were appointed over the furniture, and over all the holy vessels, and over the fine flour, and the wine, and the oil, and the frankincense, and the spices.

³⁰וּמִן־בְּנֵי֙ הַכֹּ֣הֲנִ֔ים רֹקְחֵ֥י הַמִּרְקַ֖חַת לַבְּשָׂמִֽים׃

umin-bene hakkohanim rokche hammirkachat labbesamim

And some of the sons of the priests prepared the confection of the spices.

³¹וּמַתִּתְיָה֙ מִן־הַלְוִיִּ֔ם ה֥וּא הַבְּכ֖וֹר לְשַׁלֻּ֣ם הַקָּרְחִ֑י בֶּאֱמוּנָ֕ה עַ֖ל מַעֲשֵׂ֥ה הַחֲבִתִּֽים׃

umattitya min-halviyyim hu habbekhor leshallum hakkarchi be'emuna al ma'ase hachavittim

And Mattithiah, one of the Levites, who was the firstborn of Shallum the Korahite, had the set office over the things that were baked on griddles.

³²וּמִן־בְּנֵ֧י הַקְּהָתִ֛י מִן־אֲחֵיהֶ֖ם עַל־לֶ֣חֶם הַֽמַּעֲרָ֑כֶת לְהָכִ֖ין שַׁבַּ֥ת שַׁבָּֽת׃

umin-bene hakkehati min-achehem al-lechem hamma'arakhet lehakhin shabbat shabbat

And some of their brethren, of the sons of the Kohathites, were over the showbread, to prepare it every sabbath.

³³וְאֵ֣לֶּה הַ֠מְשֹׁרְרִים רָאשֵׁ֨י אָב֧וֹת לַלְוִיִּ֛ם בַּלְּשָׁכֹ֖ת פטירים [פְּטוּרִ֑ים] כִּֽי־יוֹמָ֥ם וָלַ֛יְלָה עֲלֵיהֶ֖ם בַּמְּלָאכָֽה׃

ve'elle hamshorrim rashe avot lalviyyim balleshakhot peturim ki-yomam valayla alehem bammelakha

And these are the singers, heads of fathers’houses of the Levites, who dwelt in the chambers and were free from other service; for they were employed in their work day and night.

³⁴אֵלֶּה֩ רָאשֵׁ֨י הָאָב֧וֹת לַלְוִיִּ֛ם לְתֹלְדוֹתָ֖ם רָאשִׁ֑ים אֵ֖לֶּה יָשְׁב֥וּ בִירוּשָׁלִָֽם׃

elle rashe ha'avot lalviyyim letoldotam rashim elle yashvu virushalam

These were heads of fathers’houses of the Levites, by their generations, chief men; these dwelt at Jerusalem.

³⁵וּבְגִבְע֛וֹן יָשְׁב֥וּ אֲבִֽי־גִבְע֖וֹן יעואל [יְעִיאֵ֑ל] וְשֵׁ֥ם אִשְׁתּ֖וֹ מַעֲכָֽה׃

uvegiv'on yashvu avi-giv'on ye'i'el veshem ishto ma'akha

And in Gibeon there dwelt the father of Gibeon, Jeiel, whose wife’s name was Maacah;

³⁶וּבְנ֥וֹ הַבְּכ֖וֹר עַבְדּ֑וֹן וְצ֣וּר וְקִ֔ישׁ וּבַ֥עַל וְנֵ֖ר וְנָדָֽב׃

uveno habbekhor avdon vetzur vekish uva'al vener venadav

and his first-born son Abdon, and Zur, and Kish, and Baal, and Ner, and Nadab;

³⁷וּגְד֣וֹר וְאַחְי֔וֹ וּזְכַרְיָ֖ה וּמִקְלֽוֹת׃

ugedor ve'achyo uzekharya umiklot

and Gedor, and Ahio, and Zechariah, and Mikloth.

³⁸וּמִקְל֖וֹת הוֹלִ֣יד אֶת־שִׁמְאָ֑ם וְאַף־הֵ֗ם נֶ֧גֶד אֲחֵיהֶ֛ם יָשְׁב֥וּ בִירֽוּשָׁלִַ֖ם עִם־אֲחֵיהֶֽם׃

umiklot holid et-shim'am ve'af-hem neged achehem yashvu virushalam im-achehem

And Mikloth begot Shimeam. And they also dwelt with their brethren in Jerusalem, over against their brethren. .

³⁹וְנֵר֙ הוֹלִ֣יד אֶת־קִ֔ישׁ וְקִ֖ישׁ הוֹלִ֣יד אֶת־שָׁא֑וּל וְשָׁא֗וּל הוֹלִ֤יד אֶת־יְהֽוֹנָתָן֙ וְאֶת־מַלְכִּי־שׁ֔וּעַ וְאֶת־אֲבִינָדָ֖ב וְאֶת־אֶשְׁבָּֽעַל׃

vener holid et-kish vekish holid et-shaul veshaul holid et-yehonatan ve'et-malki-shua ve'et-avinadav ve'et-eshba'al

And Ner begot Kish; and Kish begot Saul; and Saul begot Jonathan, and Malchi-shua, and Abinadab, and Eshbaal.

⁴⁰וּבֶן־יְהוֹנָתָ֖ן מְרִ֣יב בָּ֑עַל וּמְרִי־בַ֖עַל הוֹלִ֥יד אֶת־מִיכָֽה׃

uven-yehonatan meriv ba'al umeri-va'al holid et-mikha

And the son of Jonathan was Merib-baal; and Merib-baal begot Micah.

⁴¹וּבְנֵ֖י מִיכָ֑ה פִּית֥וֹן וָמֶ֖לֶךְ וְתַחְרֵֽעַ׃

uvene mikha piton vamelekh vetachrea

And the sons of Micah: Pithon, and Melech, and Taharea[,band Ahaz].

⁴²וְאָחָז֙ הוֹלִ֣יד אֶת־יַעְרָ֔ה וְיַעְרָ֗ה הוֹלִ֛יד אֶת־עָלֶ֥מֶת וְאֶת־עַזְמָ֖וֶת וְאֶת־זִמְרִ֑י וְזִמְרִ֖י הוֹלִ֥יד אֶת־מוֹצָֽא׃

ve'achaz holid et-ya'ra veya'ra holid et-alemet ve'et-azmavet ve'et-zimri vezimri holid et-motza

And Ahaz begot Jarah; and Jarah begot Alemeth, and Azmaveth, and Zimri; and Zimri begot Moza.

⁴³וּמוֹצָ֖א הוֹלִ֣יד אֶת־בִּנְעָ֑א וּרְפָיָ֥ה בְנ֛וֹ אֶלְעָשָׂ֥ה בְנ֖וֹ אָצֵ֥ל בְּנֽוֹ׃

umotza holid et-bin'a urefaya veno el'asa veno atzel beno

And Moza begot Binea; and Rephaiah his son, Eleasah his son, Azel his son.

⁴⁴וּלְאָצֵל֮ שִׁשָּׁ֣ה בָנִים֒ וְאֵ֣לֶּה שְׁמוֹתָ֗ם עַזְרִיקָ֥ם ׀ בֹּ֨כְרוּ֙ וְיִשְׁמָעֵ֣אל וּשְׁעַרְיָ֔ה וְעֹבַדְיָ֖ה וְחָנָ֑ן אֵ֖לֶּה בְּנֵ֥י אָצַֽל׃

ule'atzel shisha vanim ve'elle shemotam azrikam bokhru veyishma'el ushe'arya ve'ovadya vechanan elle bene atzal

And Azel had six sons, whose names are these: Azrikam, Bocru, and Ishmael, and Sheariah, and Obadiah, and Hanan; these were the sons of Azel.

⁸and Ibneiah the son of Jeroham, and Elah the son of Uzzi, the son of Michri; and Meshullam the son of Shephatiah, the son of Reuel, the son of Ibnijah;

⁹and their brothers, according to their generations, nine hundred fifty-six. All these men were heads of fathers’ households by their fathers’ houses.

¹⁰Of the priests: Jedaiah, Jehoiarib, Jachin,

¹¹and Azariah the son of Hilkiah, the son of Meshullam, the son of Zadok, the son of Meraioth, the son of Ahitub, the ruler of God’s house;

¹²and Adaiah the son of Jeroham, the son of Pashhur, the son of Malchijah; and Maasai the son of Adiel, the son of Jahzerah, the son of Meshullam, the son of Meshillemith, the son of Immer;

¹³and their brothers, heads of their fathers’ houses, one thousand seven hundred sixty; they were very able men for the work of the service of God’s house.

¹⁴Of the Levites: Shemaiah the son of Hasshub, the son of Azrikam, the son of Hashabiah, of the sons of Merari;

¹⁵and Bakbakkar, Heresh, Galal, and Mattaniah the son of Mica, the son of Zichri, the son of Asaph,

¹⁶and Obadiah the son of Shemaiah, the son of Galal, the son of Jeduthun; and Berechiah the son of Asa, the son of Elkanah, who lived in the villages of the Netophathites.

¹⁷The gatekeepers: Shallum, Akkub, Talmon, Ahiman, and their brothers (Shallum was the chief),

¹⁸who previously served in the king’s gate eastward. They were the gatekeepers for the camp of the children of Levi.

¹⁹Shallum was the son of Kore, the son of Ebiasaph, the son of Korah, and his brothers, of his father’s house, the Korahites, were over the work of the service, keepers of the thresholds of the tent. Their fathers had been over the LORD’s camp, keepers of the entry.

²⁰Phinehas the son of Eleazar was ruler over them in time past, and the LORD was with him.

²¹Zechariah the son of Meshelemiah was gatekeeper of the door of the Tent of Meeting.

²²All these who were chosen to be gatekeepers in the thresholds were two hundred twelve. These were listed by genealogy in their villages, whom David and Samuel the seer ordained in their office of trust.

²³So they and their children had the oversight of the gates of the LORD’s house, even the house of the tent, as guards.

²⁴On the four sides were the gatekeepers, toward the east, west, north, and south.

²⁵Their brothers, in their villages, were to come in every seven days from time to time to be with them,

²⁶for the four chief gatekeepers, who were Levites, were in an office of trust, and were over the rooms and over the treasuries in God’s house.

²⁷They stayed around God’s house, because that was their duty; and it was their duty to open it morning by morning.

²⁸Certain of them were in charge of the vessels of service, for these were brought in by count, and these were taken out by count.

²⁹Some of them also were appointed over the furniture, and over all the vessels of the sanctuary, over the fine flour, the wine, the oil, the frankincense, and the spices.

³⁰Some of the sons of the priests prepared the mixing of the spices.

³¹Mattithiah, one of the Levites, who was the firstborn of Shallum the Korahite, had the office of trust over the things that were baked in pans.

³²Some of their brothers, of the sons of the Kohathites, were over the show bread, to prepare it every Sabbath.

³³These are the singers, heads of fathers’ households of the Levites, who lived in the rooms and were free from other service, for they were employed in their work day and night.

³⁴These were heads of fathers’ households of the Levites, throughout their generations, chief men. They lived at Jerusalem.

³⁵Jeiel the father of Gibeon, whose wife’s name was Maacah, lived in Gibeon.

³⁶His firstborn son was Abdon, then Zur, Kish, Baal, Ner, Nadab,

³⁷Gedor, Ahio, Zechariah, and Mikloth.

³⁸Mikloth became the father of Shimeam. They also lived with their relatives in Jerusalem, near their relatives.

³⁹Ner became the father of Kish. Kish became the father of Saul. Saul became the father of Jonathan, Malchishua, Abinadab, and Eshbaal.

⁴⁰The son of Jonathan was Merib-baal. Merib-baal became the father of Micah.

⁴¹The sons of Micah: Pithon, Melech, Tahrea, and Ahaz.

⁴²Ahaz became the father of Jarah. Jarah became the father of Alemeth, Azmaveth, and Zimri. Zimri became the father of Moza.

⁴³Moza became the father of Binea, Rephaiah his son, Eleasah his son, and Azel his son.

⁴⁴Azel had six sons, whose names are Azrikam, Bocheru, Ishmael, Sheariah, Obadiah, and Hanan. These were the sons of Azel.
