¹וְלִבְנֵ֥י אַהֲרֹ֖ן מַחְלְקוֹתָ֑ם בְּנֵ֣י אַהֲרֹ֔ן נָדָב֙ וַאֲבִיה֔וּא אֶלְעָזָ֖ר וְאִיתָמָֽר׃

velivne aharon machlekotam bene aharon nadav va'avihu el'azar ve'itamar

And the courses of the sons of Aaron were these. The sons of Aaron: Nadab and Abihu, Eleazar and Ithamar.

²וַיָּ֨מָת נָדָ֤ב וַאֲבִיהוּא֙ לִפְנֵ֣י אֲבִיהֶ֔ם וּבָנִ֖ים לֹא־הָי֣וּ לָהֶ֑ם וַֽיְכַהֲנ֔וּ אֶלְעָזָ֖ר וְאִיתָמָֽר׃

vayyamat nadav va'avihu lifne avihem uvanim lo-hayu lahem vaykhahanu el'azar ve'itamar

But Nadab and Abihu died before their father, and had no children; therefore Eleazar and Ithamar executed the priest’s office.

³וַיֶּֽחָלְקֵ֣ם דָּוִ֔יד וְצָדוֹק֙ מִן־בְּנֵ֣י אֶלְעָזָ֔ר וַאֲחִימֶ֖לֶךְ מִן־בְּנֵ֣י אִיתָמָ֑ר לִפְקֻדָּתָ֖ם בַּעֲבֹדָתָֽם׃

vayyechalkem david vetzadok min-bene el'azar va'achimelekh min-bene itamar lifkuddatam ba'avodatam

And David with Zadok of the sons of Eleazar, and Ahimelech of the sons of Ithamar, divided them according to their ordering in their service.

⁴וַיִּמָּצְא֣וּ בְֽנֵי־אֶלְעָזָ֡ר רַבִּ֞ים לְרָאשֵׁ֧י הַגְּבָרִ֛ים מִן־בְּנֵ֥י אִיתָמָ֖ר וַֽיַּחְלְק֑וּם לִבְנֵ֨י אֶלְעָזָ֜ר רָאשִׁ֤ים לְבֵית־אָבוֹת֙ שִׁשָּׁ֣ה עָשָׂ֔ר וְלִבְנֵ֧י אִיתָמָ֛ר לְבֵ֥ית אֲבוֹתָ֖ם שְׁמוֹנָֽה׃

vayyimmatzu vene-el'azar rabbim lerashe haggevarim min-bene itamar vayyachlekum livne el'azar rashim levet-avot shisha asar velivne itamar levet avotam shemona

And there were more chief men found of the sons of Eleazar than of the sons of Ithamar; and thus were they divided: of the sons of Eleazar there were sixteen, heads of fathers’houses; and of the sons of Ithamar, according to their fathers’houses, eight.

⁵וַיַּחְלְק֥וּם בְּגוֹרָל֖וֹת אֵ֣לֶּה עִם־אֵ֑לֶּה כִּי־הָי֤וּ שָֽׂרֵי־קֹ֨דֶשׁ֙ וְשָׂרֵ֣י הָאֱלֹהִ֔ים מִבְּנֵ֥י אֶלְעָזָ֖ר וּבִבְנֵ֥י אִיתָמָֽר׃

vayyachlekum begoralot elle im-elle ki-hayu sare-kodesh vesare ha'elohim mibbene el'azar uvivne itamar

Thus were they divided by lot, one sort with another; for they were princes of the sanctuary and princes of God, both of the sons of Eleazar, and of the sons of Ithamar.

⁶וַֽיִּכְתְּבֵ֡ם שְֽׁמַֽעְיָה֩ בֶן־נְתַנְאֵ֨ל הַסּוֹפֵ֜ר מִן־הַלֵּוִ֗י לִפְנֵ֨י הַמֶּ֤לֶךְ וְהַשָּׂרִים֙ וְצָד֣וֹק הַכֹּהֵ֗ן וַאֲחִימֶ֨לֶךְ֙ בֶּן־אֶבְיָתָ֔ר וְרָאשֵׁי֙ הָֽאָב֔וֹת לַכֹּהֲנִ֖ים וְלַלְוִיִּ֑ם בֵּֽית־אָ֣ב אֶחָ֗ד אָחֻז֙ לְאֶלְעָזָ֔ר וְאָחֻ֥ז ׀ אָחֻ֖ז לְאִיתָמָֽר׃

vayyikhtevem shema'ya ven-netan'el hassofer min-hallevi lifne hammelekh vehassarim vetzadok hakkohen va'achimelekh ben-evyatar verashe ha'avot lakkohanim velalviyyim bet-av echad achuz le'el'azar ve'achuz achuz le'itamar

And Shemaiah the son of Nethanel the scribe, who was of the Levites, wrote them in the presence of the king, and the princes, and Zadok the priest, and Ahimelech the son of Abiathar, and the heads of the fathers’houses of the priests and of the Levites: one father’s house being taken for Eleazar, and proportionately for Ithamar.

⁷וַיֵּצֵ֞א הַגּוֹרָ֤ל הָרִאשׁוֹן֙ לִיה֣וֹיָרִ֔יב לִֽידַעְיָ֖ה הַשֵּׁנִֽי׃

vayyetze haggoral harishon lihoyariv lida'ya hasheni

Now the first lot came forth to Jehoiarib, the second to Jedaiah;

⁸לְחָרִם֙ הַשְּׁלִישִׁ֔י לִשְׂעֹרִ֖ים הָרְבִעִֽי׃

lecharim hashelishi lis'orim harvi'i

the third to Harim, the fourth to Seorim;

⁹לְמַלְכִּיָּה֙ הַחֲמִישִׁ֔י לְמִיָּמִ֖ן הַשִּׁשִּֽׁי׃

lemalkiyya hachamishi lemiyyamin hashishi

the fifth to Malchijah, the sixth to Mijamin;

¹⁰לְהַקּוֹץ֙ הַשְּׁבִעִ֔י לַאֲבִיָּ֖ה הַשְּׁמִינִֽי׃

lehakkotz hashevi'i la'aviyya hashemini

the seventh to Hakkoz, the eighth to Abijah;

¹¹לְיֵשׁ֨וּעַ֙ הַתְּשִׁעִ֔י לִשְׁכַנְיָ֖הוּ הָעֲשִׂרִֽי׃

leyeshua hatteshi'i lishkhanyahu ha'asiri

the ninth to Jeshua, the tenth to Shecaniah;

¹²לְאֶלְיָשִׁיב֙ עַשְׁתֵּ֣י עָשָׂ֔ר לְיָקִ֖ים שְׁנֵ֥ים עָשָֽׂר׃

le'elyashiv ashte asar leyakim shenem asar

the eleventh to Eliashib, the twelfth to Jakim;

¹³לְחֻפָּה֙ שְׁלֹשָׁ֣ה עָשָׂ֔ר לְיֶֽשֶׁבְאָ֖ב אַרְבָּעָ֥ה עָשָֽׂר׃

lechuppa shelosha asar leyeshev'av arba'a asar

the thirteenth to Huppah, the fourteenth to Jeshebeab;

¹⁴לְבִלְגָּה֙ חֲמִשָּׁ֣ה עָשָׂ֔ר לְאִמֵּ֖ר שִׁשָּׁ֥ה עָשָֽׂר׃

levilga chamisha asar le'immer shisha asar

the fifteenth to Bilgah, the sixteenth to Immer;

¹⁵לְחֵזִיר֙ שִׁבְעָ֣ה עָשָׂ֔ר לְהַפִּצֵּ֖ץ שְׁמוֹנָ֥ה עָשָֽׂר׃

lechezir shiv'a asar lehappitzetz shemona asar

the seventeenth to Hezir, the eighteenth to Happizzez;

¹⁶לִֽפְתַחְיָה֙ תִּשְׁעָ֣ה עָשָׂ֔ר לִֽיחֶזְקֵ֖אל הָעֶשְׂרִֽים׃

liftachya tish'a asar lichezkel ha'esrim

the nineteenth to Pethahiah, the twentieth to Jehezkel;

¹⁷לְיָכִין֙ אֶחָ֣ד וְעֶשְׂרִ֔ים לְגָמ֖וּל שְׁנַ֥יִם וְעֶשְׂרִֽים׃

leyakhin echad ve'esrim legamul shenayim ve'esrim

the one and twentieth to Jachin, the two and twentieth to Gamul;

¹⁸לִדְלָיָ֨הוּ֙ שְׁלֹשָׁ֣ה וְעֶשְׂרִ֔ים לְמַֽעַזְיָ֖הוּ אַרְבָּעָ֥ה וְעֶשְׂרִֽים׃

lidlayahu shelosha ve'esrim lema'azyahu arba'a ve'esrim

the three and twentieth to Delaiah, the four and twentieth to Maaziah.

¹⁹אֵ֣לֶּה פְקֻדָּתָ֞ם לַעֲבֹדָתָ֗ם לָב֤וֹא לְבֵית־יְהוָה֙ כְּמִשְׁפָּטָ֔ם בְּיַ֖ד אַהֲרֹ֣ן אֲבִיהֶ֑ם כַּאֲשֶׁ֣ר צִוָּ֔הוּ יְהוָ֖ה אֱלֹהֵ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃

elle fekuddatam la'avodatam lavo levet-ADONAI kemishpatam beyad aharon avihem ka'asher tzivvahu ADONAI elohe yisra'el

These were the orderings of them in their service, to come into the house of the LORD according to the ordinance given unto them by the hand of Aaron their father, as the LORD, the God of Israel, had commanded him.

²⁰וְלִבְנֵ֥י לֵוִ֖י הַנּוֹתָרִ֑ים לִבְנֵ֤י עַמְרָם֙ שֽׁוּבָאֵ֔ל לִבְנֵ֥י שׁוּבָאֵ֖ל יֶחְדְּיָֽהוּ׃

velivne levi hannotarim livne amram shuva'el livne shuva'el yechdeyahu

And of the rest of the sons of Levi: of the sons of Amram, Shubael; of the sons of Shubael, Jehdeiah.

²¹לִרְחַבְיָ֑הוּ לִבְנֵ֣י רְחַבְיָ֔הוּ הָרֹ֖אשׁ יִשִּׁיָּֽה׃

lirchavyahu livne rechavyahu harosh yishiyya

Of Rehabiah: of the sons of Rehabiah, Isshiah the chief.

²²לַיִּצְהָרִ֣י שְׁלֹמ֔וֹת לִבְנֵ֥י שְׁלֹמ֖וֹת יָֽחַת׃

layyitzhari shelomot livne shelomot yachat

Of the Izharites, Shelomoth; of the sons of Shelomoth, Jahath.

²³וּבְנָ֖י יְרִיָּ֑הוּ אֲמַרְיָ֨הוּ֙ הַשֵּׁנִ֔י יַחֲזִיאֵל֙ הַשְּׁלִישִׁ֔י יְקַמְעָ֖ם הָרְבִיעִֽי׃

uvenay yeriyyahu amaryahu hasheni yachazi'el hashelishi yekam'am harvi'i

And Benai, Jeriah, Amariah the second, Jahaziel the third, Jekameam the fourth.

²⁴בְּנֵ֤י עֻזִּיאֵל֙ מִיכָ֔ה לִבְנֵ֥י מִיכָ֖ה שמור [שָׁמִֽיר]׃

bene uzzi'el mikha livne mikha shamir

The sons of Uzziel, Micah; of the sons of Micah, Shamir.

²⁵אֲחִ֤י מִיכָה֙ יִשִּׁיָּ֔ה לִבְנֵ֥י יִשִּׁיָּ֖ה זְכַרְיָֽהוּ׃

achi mikha yishiyya livne yishiyya zekharyahu

The brother of Micah, Isshiah; of the sons of Isshiah, Zechariah.

²⁶בְּנֵ֤י מְרָרִי֙ מַחְלִ֣י וּמוּשִׁ֔י בְּנֵ֖י יַעֲזִיָּ֥הֽוּ בְנֽוֹ׃

bene merari machli umushi bene ya'aziyyahu veno

The sons of Merari: Mahli and Mushi; the sons of Jaaziah, his son,

²⁷בְּנֵ֖י מְרָרִ֑י לְיַֽעֲזִיָּ֣הֽוּ בְנ֔וֹ וְשֹׁ֥הַם וְזַכּ֖וּר וְעִבְרִֽי׃

bene merari leya'aziyyahu veno veshoham vezakkur ve'ivri

even the sons of Merari through Jaaziah his son: Shoham, and Zaccur, and Ibri.

²⁸לְמַחְלִי֙ אֶלְעָזָ֔ר וְלֹא־הָ֥יָה ל֖וֹ בָּנִֽים׃

lemachli el'azar velo-haya lo banim

Of Mahli: Eleazar, who had no sons.

²⁹לְקִ֖ישׁ בְּנֵי־קִ֥ישׁ יְרַחְמְאֵֽל׃

lekish bene-kish yerachme'el

Of Kish: the sons of Kish, Jerahmeel.

³⁰וּבְנֵ֣י מוּשִׁ֔י מַחְלִ֥י וְעֵ֖דֶר וִירִימ֑וֹת אֵ֛לֶּה בְּנֵ֥י הַלְוִיִּ֖ם לְבֵ֥ית אֲבֹתֵיהֶֽם׃

uvene mushi machli ve'eder virimot elle bene halviyyim levet avotehem

And the sons of Mushi: Mahli, and Eder, and Jerimoth. These were the sons of the Levites after their fathers’houses.

³¹וַיַּפִּילוּ֩ גַם־הֵ֨ם גּוֹרָל֜וֹת לְעֻמַּ֣ת ׀ אֲחֵיהֶ֣ם בְּנֵֽי־אַהֲרֹ֗ן לִפְנֵ֨י דָוִ֤יד הַמֶּ֨לֶךְ֙ וְצָד֣וֹק וַאֲחִימֶ֔לֶךְ וְרָאשֵׁי֙ הָֽאָב֔וֹת לַכֹּהֲנִ֖ים וְלַלְוִיִּ֑ם אָב֣וֹת הָרֹ֔אשׁ לְעֻמַּ֖ת אָחִ֥יו הַקָּטָֽן׃

vayyappilu gam-hem goralot le'ummat achehem bene-aharon lifne david hammelekh vetzadok va'achimelekh verashe ha'avot lakkohanim velalviyyim avot harosh le'ummat achiv hakkatan

These likewise cast lots even as their brethren the sons of Aaron in the presence of David the king, and Zadok, and Ahimelech, and the heads of the fathers’houses of the priests and of the Levites; the fathers’houses of the chief even as those of his younger brother.
