Numbers 31 בְּמִדְבַּר

¹וַיְדַבֵּ֥ר יְהוָ֖ה אֶל־מֹשֶׁ֥ה לֵּאמֹֽר׃

vaydabber ADONAI el-moshe lemor

1And the LORD spoke unto Moses, saying:

²נְקֹ֗ם נִקְמַת֙ בְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל מֵאֵ֖ת הַמִּדְיָנִ֑ים אַחַ֖ר תֵּאָסֵ֥ף אֶל־עַמֶּֽיךָ׃

nekom nikmat bene yisra'el me'et hammidyanim achar te'asef el-ammekha

2’Avenge the children of Israel of the Midianites; afterward shalt thou be gathered unto thy people.’

³וַיְדַבֵּ֤ר מֹשֶׁה֙ אֶל־הָעָ֣ם לֵאמֹ֔ר הֵחָלְצ֧וּ מֵאִתְּכֶ֛ם אֲנָשִׁ֖ים לַצָּבָ֑א וְיִהְיוּ֙ עַל־מִדְיָ֔ן לָתֵ֥ת נִקְמַת־יְהוָ֖ה בְּמִדְיָֽן׃

vaydabber moshe el-ha'am lemor hechaltzu me'ittekhem anashim latzava veyihyu al-midyan latet nikmat-ADONAI bemidyan

3And Moses spoke unto the people, saying: ‘Arm ye men from among you for the war, that they may go against Midian, to execute the LORD’S vengeance on Midian.

⁴אֶ֚לֶף לַמַּטֶּ֔ה אֶ֖לֶף לַמַּטֶּ֑ה לְכֹל֙ מַטּ֣וֹת יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל תִּשְׁלְח֖וּ לַצָּבָֽא׃

elef lammatte elef lammatte lekhol mattot yisra'el tishlechu latzava

4Of every tribe a thousand, throughout all the tribes of Israel, shall ye send to the war.’

⁵וַיִּמָּֽסְרוּ֙ מֵאַלְפֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל אֶ֖לֶף לַמַּטֶּ֑ה שְׁנֵים־עָשָׂ֥ר אֶ֖לֶף חֲלוּצֵ֥י צָבָֽא׃

vayyimmasru me'alfe yisra'el elef lammatte shenem-asar elef chalutze tzava

5So there were delivered, out of the thousands of Israel, a thousand of every tribe, twelve thousand armed for war.

⁶וַיִּשְׁלַ֨ח אֹתָ֥ם מֹשֶׁ֛ה אֶ֥לֶף לַמַּטֶּ֖ה לַצָּבָ֑א אֹ֠תָם וְאֶת־פִּ֨ינְחָ֜ס בֶּן־אֶלְעָזָ֤ר הַכֹּהֵן֙ לַצָּבָ֔א וּכְלֵ֥י הַקֹּ֛דֶשׁ וַחֲצֹצְר֥וֹת הַתְּרוּעָ֖ה בְּיָדֽוֹ׃

vayyishlach otam moshe elef lammatte latzava otam ve'et-pinchas ben-el'azar hakkohen latzava ukhele hakkodesh vachatzotzrot hatteru'a beyado

6And Moses sent them, a thousand of every tribe, to the war, them and Phinehas the son of Eleazar the priest, to the war, with the holy vessels and the trumpets for the alarm in his hand.

⁷וַֽיִּצְבְּאוּ֙ עַל־מִדְיָ֔ן כַּאֲשֶׁ֛ר צִוָּ֥ה יְהוָ֖ה אֶת־מֹשֶׁ֑ה וַיַּֽהַרְג֖וּ כָּל־זָכָֽר׃

vayyitzbeu al-midyan ka'asher tzivva ADONAI et-moshe vayyahargu kal-zakhar

7And they warred against Midian, as the LORD commanded Moses; and they slew every male.

⁸וְאֶת־מַלְכֵ֨י מִדְיָ֜ן הָרְג֣וּ עַל־חַלְלֵיהֶ֗ם אֶת־אֱוִ֤י וְאֶת־רֶ֨קֶם֙ וְאֶת־צ֤וּר וְאֶת־חוּר֙ וְאֶת־רֶ֔בַע חֲמֵ֖שֶׁת מַלְכֵ֣י מִדְיָ֑ן וְאֵת֙ בִּלְעָ֣ם בֶּן־בְּע֔וֹר הָרְג֖וּ בֶּחָֽרֶב׃

ve'et-malkhe midyan hargu al-challehem et-evi ve'et-rekem ve'et-tzur ve'et-chur ve'et-reva' chameshet malkhe midyan ve'et bil'am ben-be'or hargu becharev

8And they slew the kings of Midian with the rest of their slain: Evi, and Rekem, and Zur, and Hur, and Reba, the five kings of Midian; Balaam also the son of Beor they slew with the sword.

⁹וַיִּשְׁבּ֧וּ בְנֵי־יִשְׂרָאֵ֛ל אֶת־נְשֵׁ֥י מִדְיָ֖ן וְאֶת־טַפָּ֑ם וְאֵ֨ת כָּל־בְּהֶמְתָּ֧ם וְאֶת־כָּל־מִקְנֵהֶ֛ם וְאֶת־כָּל־חֵילָ֖ם בָּזָֽזוּ׃

vayyishbu vene-yisra'el et-neshe midyan ve'et-tappam ve'et kal-behemtam ve'et-kal-miknehem ve'et-kal-chelam bazazu

9And the children of Israel took captive the women of Midian and their little ones; and all their cattle, and all their flocks, and all their goods, they took for a prey.

¹⁰וְאֵ֤ת כָּל־עָרֵיהֶם֙ בְּמ֣וֹשְׁבֹתָ֔ם וְאֵ֖ת כָּל־טִֽירֹתָ֑ם שָׂרְפ֖וּ בָּאֵֽשׁ׃

ve'et kal-arehem bemoshvotam ve'et kal-tirotam sarfu ba'esh

10And all their cities in the places wherein they dwelt, and all their encampments, they burnt with fire.

¹¹וַיִּקְחוּ֙ אֶת־כָּל־הַשָּׁלָ֔ל וְאֵ֖ת כָּל־הַמַּלְק֑וֹחַ בָּאָדָ֖ם וּבַבְּהֵמָֽה׃

vayyikchu et-kal-hashalal ve'et kal-hammalkoach ba'adam uvabbehema

11And they took all the spoil, and all the prey, both of man and of beast.

¹²וַיָּבִ֡אוּ אֶל־מֹשֶׁה֩ וְאֶל־אֶלְעָזָ֨ר הַכֹּהֵ֜ן וְאֶל־עֲדַ֣ת בְּנֵֽי־יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל אֶת־הַשְּׁבִ֧י וְאֶת־הַמַּלְק֛וֹחַ וְאֶת־הַשָּׁלָ֖ל אֶל־הַֽמַּחֲנֶ֑ה אֶל־עַֽרְבֹ֣ת מוֹאָ֔ב אֲשֶׁ֖ר עַל־יַרְדֵּ֥ן יְרֵחֽוֹ׃

vayyaviu el-moshe ve'el-el'azar hakkohen ve'el-adat bene-yisra'el et-hashevi ve'et-hammalkoach ve'et-hashalal el-hammachane el-arvot mo'av asher al-yarden yerecho

12And they brought the captives, and the prey, and the spoil, unto Moses, and unto Eleazar the priest, and unto the congregation of the children of Israel, unto the camp, unto the plains of Moab, which are by the Jordan at Jericho.

¹³וַיֵּ֨צְא֜וּ מֹשֶׁ֨ה וְאֶלְעָזָ֧ר הַכֹּהֵ֛ן וְכָל־נְשִׂיאֵ֥י הָעֵדָ֖ה לִקְרָאתָ֑ם אֶל־מִח֖וּץ לַֽמַּחֲנֶֽה׃

vayyetzu moshe ve'el'azar hakkohen vekhal-nesi'e ha'eda likratam el-michutz lammachane

13And Moses, and Eleazar the priest, and all the princes of the congregation, went forth to meet them without the camp.

¹⁴וַיִּקְצֹ֣ף מֹשֶׁ֔ה עַ֖ל פְּקוּדֵ֣י הֶחָ֑יִל שָׂרֵ֤י הָאֲלָפִים֙ וְשָׂרֵ֣י הַמֵּא֔וֹת הַבָּאִ֖ים מִצְּבָ֥א הַמִּלְחָמָֽה׃

vayyiktzof moshe al pekude hechayil sare ha'alafim vesare hammeot habba'im mitzeva hammilchama

14And Moses was wroth with the officers of the host, the captains of thousands and the captains of hundreds, who came from the service of the war.

¹⁵וַיֹּ֥אמֶר אֲלֵיהֶ֖ם מֹשֶׁ֑ה הַֽחִיִּיתֶ֖ם כָּל־נְקֵבָֽה׃

vayyomer alehem moshe hachiyyitem kal-nekeva

15And Moses said unto them: ‘Have ye saved all the women alive?

¹⁶הֵ֣ן הֵ֜נָּה הָי֨וּ לִבְנֵ֤י יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ בִּדְבַ֣ר בִּלְעָ֔ם לִמְסָר־מַ֥עַל בַּיהוָ֖ה עַל־דְּבַר־פְּע֑וֹר וַתְּהִ֥י הַמַּגֵּפָ֖ה בַּעֲדַ֥ת יְהוָֽה׃

hen henna hayu livne yisra'el bidvar bil'am limsar-ma'al baADONAI al-devar-pe'or vattehi hammaggefa ba'adat ADONAI

16Behold, these caused the children of Israel, through the counsel of Balaam, to revolt so as to break faith with the LORD in the matter of Peor, and so the plague was among the congregation of the LORD.

¹⁷וְעַתָּ֕ה הִרְג֥וּ כָל־זָכָ֖ר בַּטָּ֑ף וְכָל־אִשָּׁ֗ה יֹדַ֥עַת אִ֛ישׁ לְמִשְׁכַּ֥ב זָכָ֖ר הֲרֹֽגוּ׃

ve'atta hirgu khal-zakhar battaf vekhal-isha yoda'at ish lemishkav zakhar harogu

17Now therefore kill every male among the little ones, and kill every woman that hath known man by lying with him.

¹⁸וְכֹל֙ הַטַּ֣ף בַּנָּשִׁ֔ים אֲשֶׁ֥ר לֹא־יָדְע֖וּ מִשְׁכַּ֣ב זָכָ֑ר הַחֲי֖וּ לָכֶֽם׃

vekhol hattaf bannashim asher lo-yad'u mishkav zakhar hachayu lakhem

18But all the women children, that have not known man by lying with him, keep alive for yourselves.

¹⁹וְאַתֶּ֗ם חֲנ֛וּ מִח֥וּץ לַֽמַּחֲנֶ֖ה שִׁבְעַ֣ת יָמִ֑ים כֹּל֩ הֹרֵ֨ג נֶ֜פֶשׁ וְכֹ֣ל ׀ נֹגֵ֣עַ בֶּֽחָלָ֗ל תִּֽתְחַטְּא֞וּ בַּיּ֤וֹם הַשְּׁלִישִׁי֙ וּבַיּ֣וֹם הַשְּׁבִיעִ֔י אַתֶּ֖ם וּשְׁבִיכֶֽם׃

ve'attem chanu michutz lammachane shiv'at yamim kol horeg nefesh vekhol nogea bechalal titchatteu bayyom hashelishi uvayyom hashevi'i attem ushevikhem

19And encamp ye without the camp seven days; whosoever hath killed any person, and whosoever hath touched any slain, purify yourselves on the third day and on the seventh day, ye and your captives.

²⁰וְכָל־בֶּ֧גֶד וְכָל־כְּלִי־ע֛וֹר וְכָל־מַעֲשֵׂ֥ה עִזִּ֖ים וְכָל־כְּלִי־עֵ֑ץ תִּתְחַטָּֽאוּ׃

vekhal-beged vekhal-keli-or vekhal-ma'ase izzim vekhal-keli-etz titchattau

20And as to every garment, and all that is made of skin, and all work of goats’hair, and all things made of wood, ye shall purify.’

²¹וַיֹּ֨אמֶר אֶלְעָזָ֤ר הַכֹּהֵן֙ אֶל־אַנְשֵׁ֣י הַצָּבָ֔א הַבָּאִ֖ים לַמִּלְחָמָ֑ה זֹ֚את חֻקַּ֣ת הַתּוֹרָ֔ה אֲשֶׁר־צִוָּ֥ה יְהוָ֖ה אֶת־מֹשֶֽׁה׃

vayyomer el'azar hakkohen el-anshe hatzava habba'im lammilchama zot chukkat hattora asher-tzivva ADONAI et-moshe

21And Eleazar the priest said unto the men of war that went to the battle: ‘This is the statute of the law which the LORD hath commanded Moses:

²²אַ֥ךְ אֶת־הַזָּהָ֖ב וְאֶת־הַכָּ֑סֶף אֶֽת־הַנְּחֹ֨שֶׁת֙ אֶת־הַבַּרְזֶ֔ל אֶֽת־הַבְּדִ֖יל וְאֶת־הָעֹפָֽרֶת׃

akh et-hazzahav ve'et-hakkasef et-hannechoshet et-habbarzel et-habbedil ve'et-ha'ofaret

22Howbeit the gold, and the silver, the brass, the iron, the tin, and the lead,

²³כָּל־דָּבָ֞ר אֲשֶׁר־יָבֹ֣א בָאֵ֗שׁ תַּעֲבִ֤ירוּ בָאֵשׁ֙ וְטָהֵ֔ר אַ֕ךְ בְּמֵ֥י נִדָּ֖ה יִתְחַטָּ֑א וְכֹ֨ל אֲשֶׁ֧ר לֹֽא־יָבֹ֛א בָּאֵ֖שׁ תַּעֲבִ֥ירוּ בַמָּֽיִם׃

kal-davar asher-yavo va'esh ta'aviru va'esh vetaher akh beme nidda yitchatta vekhol asher lo-yavo ba'esh ta'aviru vammayim

23every thing that may abide the fire, ye shall make to go through the fire, and it shall be clean; nevertheless it shall be purified with the water of sprinkling; and all that abideth not the fire ye shall make to go through the water.

²⁴וְכִבַּסְתֶּ֧ם בִּגְדֵיכֶ֛ם בַּיּ֥וֹם הַשְּׁבִיעִ֖י וּטְהַרְתֶּ֑ם וְאַחַ֖ר תָּבֹ֥אוּ אֶל־הַֽמַּחֲנֶֽה׃

vekhibbastem bigdekhem bayyom hashevi'i utehartem ve'achar tavou el-hammachane

24And ye shall wash your clothes on the seventh day, and ye shall be clean, and afterward ye may come into the camp.’

²⁵וַיֹּ֥אמֶר יְהוָ֖ה אֶל־מֹשֶׁ֥ה לֵּאמֹֽר׃

vayyomer ADONAI el-moshe lemor

25And the LORD spoke unto Moses, saying:

²⁶שָׂ֗א אֵ֣ת רֹ֤אשׁ מַלְק֨וֹחַ֙ הַשְּׁבִ֔י בָּאָדָ֖ם וּבַבְּהֵמָ֑ה אַתָּה֙ וְאֶלְעָזָ֣ר הַכֹּהֵ֔ן וְרָאשֵׁ֖י אֲב֥וֹת הָעֵדָֽה׃

sa et rosh malkoach hashevi ba'adam uvabbehema atta ve'el'azar hakkohen verashe avot ha'eda

26’Take the sum of the prey that was taken, both of man and of beast, thou, and Eleazar the priest, and the heads of the fathers’houses of the congregation;

²⁷וְחָצִ֨יתָ֙ אֶת־הַמַּלְק֔וֹחַ בֵּ֚ין תֹּפְשֵׂ֣י הַמִּלְחָמָ֔ה הַיֹּצְאִ֖ים לַצָּבָ֑א וּבֵ֖ין כָּל־הָעֵדָֽה׃

vechatzita et-hammalkoach ben tofse hammilchama hayyotz'im latzava uven kal-ha'eda

27and divide the prey into two parts: between the men skilled in war, that went out to battle, and all the congregation;

²⁸וַהֲרֵמֹתָ֨ מֶ֜כֶס לַֽיהוָ֗ה מֵאֵ֞ת אַנְשֵׁ֤י הַמִּלְחָמָה֙ הַיֹּצְאִ֣ים לַצָּבָ֔א אֶחָ֣ד נֶ֔פֶשׁ מֵחֲמֵ֖שׁ הַמֵּא֑וֹת מִן־הָאָדָם֙ וּמִן־הַבָּקָ֔ר וּמִן־הַחֲמֹרִ֖ים וּמִן־הַצֹּֽאן׃

vaharemota mekhes laADONAI me'et anshe hammilchama hayyotz'im latzava echad nefesh mechamesh hammeot min-ha'adam umin-habbakar umin-hachamorim umin-hatzon

28and levy a tribute unto the LORD of the men of war that went out to battle: one soul of five hundred, both of the persons, and of the beeves, and of the asses, and of the flocks;

²⁹מִמַּֽחֲצִיתָ֖ם תִּקָּ֑חוּ וְנָתַתָּ֛ה לְאֶלְעָזָ֥ר הַכֹּהֵ֖ן תְּרוּמַ֥ת יְהוָֽה׃

mimmachatzitam tikkachu venatatta le'el'azar hakkohen terumat ADONAI

29take it of their half, and give it unto Eleazar the priest, as a portion set apart for the LORD.

³⁰וּמִמַּחֲצִ֨ת בְּנֵֽי־יִשְׂרָאֵ֜ל תִּקַּ֣ח ׀ אֶחָ֣ד ׀ אָחֻ֣ז מִן־הַחֲמִשִּׁ֗ים מִן־הָאָדָ֧ם מִן־הַבָּקָ֛ר מִן־הַחֲמֹרִ֥ים וּמִן־הַצֹּ֖אן מִכָּל־הַבְּהֵמָ֑ה וְנָתַתָּ֤ה אֹתָם֙ לַלְוִיִּ֔ם שֹׁמְרֵ֕י מִשְׁמֶ֖רֶת מִשְׁכַּ֥ן יְהוָֽה׃

umimmachatzit bene-yisra'el tikkach echad achuz min-hachamishim min-ha'adam min-habbakar min-hachamorim umin-hatzon mikkal-habbehema venatatta otam lalviyyim shomre mishmeret mishkan ADONAI

30And of the children of Israel’s half, thou shalt take one drawn out of every fifty, of the persons, of the beeves, of the asses, and of the flocks, even of all the cattle, and give them unto the Levites, that keep the charge of the tabernacle of the LORD.’

³¹וַיַּ֣עַשׂ מֹשֶׁ֔ה וְאֶלְעָזָ֖ר הַכֹּהֵ֑ן כַּאֲשֶׁ֛ר צִוָּ֥ה יְהוָ֖ה אֶת־מֹשֶֽׁה׃

vayya'as moshe ve'el'azar hakkohen ka'asher tzivva ADONAI et-moshe

31And Moses and Eleazar the priest did as the LORD commanded Moses.

³²וַיְהִי֙ הַמַּלְק֔וֹחַ יֶ֣תֶר הַבָּ֔ז אֲשֶׁ֥ר בָּזְז֖וּ עַ֣ם הַצָּבָ֑א צֹ֗אן שֵׁשׁ־מֵא֥וֹת אֶ֛לֶף וְשִׁבְעִ֥ים אֶ֖לֶף וַחֲמֵֽשֶׁת־אֲלָפִֽים׃

vayhi hammalkoach yeter habbaz asher bazzu am hatzava tzon shesh-meot elef veshiv'im elef vachameshet-alafim

32Now the prey, over and above the booty which the men of war took, was six hundred thousand and seventy thousand and five thousand sheep,

³³וּבָקָ֕ר שְׁנַ֥יִם וְשִׁבְעִ֖ים אָֽלֶף׃

uvakar shenayim veshiv'im alef

33and threescore and twelve thousand beeves,

³⁴וַחֲמֹרִ֕ים אֶחָ֥ד וְשִׁשִּׁ֖ים אָֽלֶף׃

vachamorim echad veshishim alef

34and threescore and one thousand asses,

³⁵וְנֶ֣פֶשׁ אָדָ֔ם מִן־הַ֨נָּשִׁ֔ים אֲשֶׁ֥ר לֹֽא־יָדְע֖וּ מִשְׁכַּ֣ב זָכָ֑ר כָּל־נֶ֕פֶשׁ שְׁנַ֥יִם וּשְׁלֹשִׁ֖ים אָֽלֶף׃

venefesh adam min-hannashim asher lo-yad'u mishkav zakhar kal-nefesh shenayim usheloshim alef

35and thirty and two thousand persons in all, of the women that had not known man by lying with him.

³⁶וַתְּהִי֙ הַֽמֶּחֱצָ֔ה חֵ֕לֶק הַיֹּצְאִ֖ים בַּצָּבָ֑א מִסְפַּ֣ר הַצֹּ֗אן שְׁלֹשׁ־מֵא֥וֹת אֶ֨לֶף֙ וּשְׁלֹשִׁ֣ים אֶ֔לֶף וְשִׁבְעַ֥ת אֲלָפִ֖ים וַחֲמֵ֥שׁ מֵאֽוֹת׃

vattehi hammechetza chelek hayyotz'im batzava mispar hatzon shelosh-meot elef usheloshim elef veshiv'at alafim vachamesh meot

36And the half, which was the portion of them that went out to war, was in number three hundred thousand and thirty thousand and seven thousand and five hundred sheep.

³⁷וַיְהִ֛י הַמֶּ֥כֶס לַֽיהוָ֖ה מִן־הַצֹּ֑אן שֵׁ֥שׁ מֵא֖וֹת חָמֵ֥שׁ וְשִׁבְעִֽים׃

vayhi hammekhes laADONAI min-hatzon shesh meot chamesh veshiv'im

37And the LORD’S tribute of the sheep was six hundred and threescore and fifteen.

³⁸וְהַ֨בָּקָ֔ר שִׁשָּׁ֥ה וּשְׁלֹשִׁ֖ים אָ֑לֶף וּמִכְסָ֥ם לַיהוָ֖ה שְׁנַ֥יִם וְשִׁבְעִֽים׃

vehabbakar shisha usheloshim alef umikhsam laADONAI shenayim veshiv'im

38And the beeves were thirty and six thousand, of which the LORD’S tribute was threescore and twelve.

³⁹וַחֲמֹרִ֕ים שְׁלֹשִׁ֥ים אֶ֖לֶף וַחֲמֵ֣שׁ מֵא֑וֹת וּמִכְסָ֥ם לַֽיהוָ֖ה אֶחָ֥ד וְשִׁשִּֽׁים׃

vachamorim sheloshim elef vachamesh meot umikhsam laADONAI echad veshishim

39And the asses were thirty thousand and five hundred, of which the LORD’S tribute was threescore and one.

⁴⁰וְנֶ֣פֶשׁ אָדָ֔ם שִׁשָּׁ֥ה עָשָׂ֖ר אָ֑לֶף וּמִכְסָם֙ לַֽיהוָ֔ה שְׁנַ֥יִם וּשְׁלֹשִׁ֖ים נָֽפֶשׁ׃

venefesh adam shisha asar alef umikhsam laADONAI shenayim usheloshim nafesh

40And the persons were sixteen thousand, of whom the LORD’S tribute was thirty and two persons.

⁴¹וַיִּתֵּ֣ן מֹשֶׁ֗ה אֶת־מֶ֨כֶס֙ תְּרוּמַ֣ת יְהוָ֔ה לְאֶלְעָזָ֖ר הַכֹּהֵ֑ן כַּאֲשֶׁ֛ר צִוָּ֥ה יְהוָ֖ה אֶת־מֹשֶֽׁה׃

vayyitten moshe et-mekhes terumat ADONAI le'el'azar hakkohen ka'asher tzivva ADONAI et-moshe

41And Moses gave the tribute, which was set apart for the LORD, unto Eleazar the priest, as the LORD commanded Moses.

⁴²וּמִֽמַּחֲצִ֖ית בְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל אֲשֶׁר֙ חָצָ֣ה מֹשֶׁ֔ה מִן־הָאֲנָשִׁ֖ים הַצֹּבְאִֽים׃

umimmachatzit bene yisra'el asher chatza moshe min-ha'anashim hatzov'im

42And of the children of Israel’s half, which Moses divided off from the men that warred—

⁴³וַתְּהִ֛י מֶחֱצַ֥ת הָעֵדָ֖ה מִן־הַצֹּ֑אן שְׁלֹשׁ־מֵא֥וֹת אֶ֨לֶף֙ וּשְׁלֹשִׁ֣ים אֶ֔לֶף שִׁבְעַ֥ת אֲלָפִ֖ים וַחֲמֵ֥שׁ מֵאֽוֹת׃

vattehi mechetzat ha'eda min-hatzon shelosh-meot elef usheloshim elef shiv'at alafim vachamesh meot

43now the congregation’s half was three hundred thousand and thirty thousand and seven thousand and five hundred sheep,

⁴⁴וּבָקָ֕ר שִׁשָּׁ֥ה וּשְׁלֹשִׁ֖ים אָֽלֶף׃

uvakar shisha usheloshim alef

44and thirty and six thousand beeves,

⁴⁵וַחֲמֹרִ֕ים שְׁלֹשִׁ֥ים אֶ֖לֶף וַחֲמֵ֥שׁ מֵאֽוֹת׃

vachamorim sheloshim elef vachamesh meot

45and thirty thousand and five hundred asses,

⁴⁶וְנֶ֣פֶשׁ אָדָ֔ם שִׁשָּׁ֥ה עָשָׂ֖ר אָֽלֶף׃

venefesh adam shisha asar alef

46and sixteen thousand persons—

⁴⁷וַיִּקַּ֨ח מֹשֶׁ֜ה מִמַּחֲצִ֣ת בְּנֵֽי־יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל אֶת־הָֽאָחֻז֙ אֶחָ֣ד מִן־הַחֲמִשִּׁ֔ים מִן־הָאָדָ֖ם וּמִן־הַבְּהֵמָ֑ה וַיִּתֵּ֨ן אֹתָ֜ם לַלְוִיִּ֗ם שֹֽׁמְרֵי֙ מִשְׁמֶ֨רֶת֙ מִשְׁכַּ֣ן יְהוָ֔ה כַּאֲשֶׁ֛ר צִוָּ֥ה יְהוָ֖ה אֶת־מֹשֶֽׁה׃

vayyikkach moshe mimmachatzit bene-yisra'el et-ha'achuz echad min-hachamishim min-ha'adam umin-habbehema vayyitten otam lalviyyim shomre mishmeret mishkan ADONAI ka'asher tzivva ADONAI et-moshe

47even of the children of Israel’s half, Moses took one drawn out of every fifty, both of man and of beast, and gave them unto the Levites, that kept the charge of the tabernacle of the LORD; as the LORD commanded Moses.

⁴⁸וַֽיִּקְרְבוּ֙ אֶל־מֹשֶׁ֔ה הַפְּקֻדִ֕ים אֲשֶׁ֖ר לְאַלְפֵ֣י הַצָּבָ֑א שָׂרֵ֥י הָאֲלָפִ֖ים וְשָׂרֵ֥י הַמֵּאֽוֹת׃

vayyikrevu el-moshe happekudim asher le'alfe hatzava sare ha'alafim vesare hammeot

48And the officers that were over the thousands of the host, the captains of thousands, and the captains of hundreds, came near unto Moses;

⁴⁹וַיֹּֽאמְרוּ֙ אֶל־מֹשֶׁ֔ה עֲבָדֶ֣יךָ נָֽשְׂא֗וּ אֶת־רֹ֛אשׁ אַנְשֵׁ֥י הַמִּלְחָמָ֖ה אֲשֶׁ֣ר בְּיָדֵ֑נוּ וְלֹא־נִפְקַ֥ד מִמֶּ֖נּוּ אִֽישׁ׃

vayyomru el-moshe avadekha nasu et-rosh anshe hammilchama asher beyadenu velo-nifkad mimmennu ish

49and they said unto Moses: ‘Thy servants have taken the sum of the men of war that are under our charge, and there lacketh not one man of us.

⁵⁰וַנַּקְרֵ֞ב אֶת־קָרְבַּ֣ן יְהוָ֗ה אִישׁ֩ אֲשֶׁ֨ר מָצָ֤א כְלִֽי־זָהָב֙ אֶצְעָדָ֣ה וְצָמִ֔יד טַבַּ֖עַת עָגִ֣יל וְכוּמָ֑ז לְכַפֵּ֥ר עַל־נַפְשֹׁתֵ֖ינוּ לִפְנֵ֥י יְהוָֽה׃

vannakrev et-karban ADONAI ish asher matza kheli-zahav etz'ada vetzamid tabba'at agil vekhumaz lekhapper al-nafshotenu lifne ADONAI

50And we have brought the LORD’S offering, what every man hath gotten, of jewels of gold, armlets, and bracelets, signet-rings, ear-rings, and girdles, to make atonement for our souls before the LORD.’

⁵¹וַיִּקַּ֨ח מֹשֶׁ֜ה וְאֶלְעָזָ֧ר הַכֹּהֵ֛ן אֶת־הַזָּהָ֖ב מֵֽאִתָּ֑ם כֹּ֖ל כְּלִ֥י מַעֲשֶֽׂה׃

vayyikkach moshe ve'el'azar hakkohen et-hazzahav me'ittam kol keli ma'ase

51And Moses and Eleazar the priest took the gold of them, even all wrought jewels.

⁵²וַיְהִ֣י ׀ כָּל־זְהַ֣ב הַתְּרוּמָ֗ה אֲשֶׁ֤ר הֵרִ֨ימוּ֙ לַֽיהוָ֔ה שִׁשָּׁ֨ה עָשָׂ֥ר אֶ֛לֶף שְׁבַע־מֵא֥וֹת וַחֲמִשִּׁ֖ים שָׁ֑קֶל מֵאֵת֙ שָׂרֵ֣י הָֽאֲלָפִ֔ים וּמֵאֵ֖ת שָׂרֵ֥י הַמֵּאֽוֹת׃

vayhi kal-zehav hatteruma asher herimu laADONAI shisha asar elef sheva'-meot vachamishim shakel me'et sare ha'alafim ume'et sare hammeot

52And all the gold of the gift that they set apart for the LORD, of the captains of thousands, and of the captains of hundreds, was sixteen thousand seven hundred and fifty shekels.—

⁵³אַנְשֵׁי֙ הַצָּבָ֔א בָּזְז֖וּ אִ֥ישׁ לֽוֹ׃

anshe hatzava bazzu ish lo

53For the men of war had taken booty, every man for himself.—

⁵⁴וַיִּקַּ֨ח מֹשֶׁ֜ה וְאֶלְעָזָ֤ר הַכֹּהֵן֙ אֶת־הַזָּהָ֔ב מֵאֵ֛ת שָׂרֵ֥י הָאֲלָפִ֖ים וְהַמֵּא֑וֹת וַיָּבִ֤אוּ אֹתוֹ֙ אֶל־אֹ֣הֶל מוֹעֵ֔ד זִכָּר֥וֹן לִבְנֵֽי־יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל לִפְנֵ֥י יְהוָֽה׃

vayyikkach moshe ve'el'azar hakkohen et-hazzahav me'et sare ha'alafim vehammeot vayyaviu oto el-ohel mo'ed zikkaron livne-yisra'el lifne ADONAI

54And Moses and Eleazar the priest took the gold of the captains of thousands and of hundreds, and brought it into the tent of meeting, for a memorial for the children of Israel before the LORD.
