Nehemiah 7 נְחֶמְיָה

¹וַיְהִ֗י כַּאֲשֶׁ֤ר נִבְנְתָה֙ הַחוֹמָ֔ה וָאַעֲמִ֖יד הַדְּלָת֑וֹת וַיִּפָּֽקְד֛וּ הַשּׁוֹעֲרִ֥ים וְהַמְשֹׁרְרִ֖ים וְהַלְוִיִּֽם׃

vayhi ka'asher nivneta hachoma va'a'amid haddelatot vayyippakdu hasho'arim vehamshorrim vehalviyyim

1Now it came to pass, when the wall was built, and I had set up the doors, and the porters and the singers and the Levites were appointed,

²וָאֲצַוֶּ֞ה אֶת־חֲנָ֣נִי אָחִ֗י וְאֶת־חֲנַנְיָ֛ה שַׂ֥ר הַבִּירָ֖ה עַל־יְרוּשָׁלִָ֑ם כִּי־הוּא֙ כְּאִ֣ישׁ אֱמֶ֔ת וְיָרֵ֥א אֶת־הָאֱלֹהִ֖ים מֵרַבִּֽים׃

va'atzavve et-chanani achi ve'et-chananya sar habbira al-yerushalam ki-hu ke'ish emet veyare et-ha'elohim merabbim

2that I gave my brother Hanani, and Hananiah the governor of the castle, charge over Jerusalem; for he was a faithful man, and feared God above many.

³ויאמר [וָאֹמַ֣ר] לָהֶ֗ם לֹ֣א יִפָּֽתְח֞וּ שַׁעֲרֵ֤י יְרוּשָׁלִַ֨ם֙ עַד־חֹ֣ם הַשֶּׁ֔מֶשׁ וְעַ֨ד הֵ֥ם עֹמְדִ֛ים יָגִ֥יפוּ הַדְּלָת֖וֹת וֶאֱחֹ֑זוּ וְהַעֲמֵ֗יד מִשְׁמְרוֹת֙ יֹשְׁבֵ֣י יְרוּשָׁלִַ֔ם אִ֚ישׁ בְּמִשְׁמָר֔וֹ וְאִ֖ישׁ נֶ֥גֶד בֵּיתֽוֹ׃

va'omar lahem lo yippatchu sha'are yerushalam ad-chom hashemesh ve'ad hem omdim yagifu haddelatot ve'echozu veha'amed mishmerot yoshve yerushalam ish bemishmaro ve'ish neged beto

3And I said unto them: ‘Let not the gates of Jerusalem be opened until the sun be hot; and while they stand on guard, let them shut the doors, and bar ye them; and let watches be appointed of the inhabitants of Jerusalem, every one in his watch, and every one to be over against his house.’

⁴וְהָעִ֞יר רַחֲבַ֤ת יָדַ֨יִם֙ וּגְדוֹלָ֔ה וְהָעָ֥ם מְעַ֖ט בְּתוֹכָ֑הּ וְאֵ֥ין בָּתִּ֖ים בְּנוּיִֽם׃

veha'ir rachavat yadayim ugedola veha'am me'at betokhah ve'en battim benuyim

4Now the city was wide and large; but the people were few therein, and the houses were not builded.

⁵וַיִּתֵּ֤ן אֱלֹהַי֙ אֶל־לִבִּ֔י וָאֶקְבְּצָ֞ה אֶת־הַחֹרִ֧ים וְאֶת־הַסְּגָנִ֛ים וְאֶת־הָעָ֖ם לְהִתְיַחֵ֑שׂ וָֽאֶמְצָ֗א סֵ֤פֶר הַיַּ֨חַשׂ֙ הָעוֹלִ֣ים בָּרִאשׁוֹנָ֔ה וָאֶמְצָ֖א כָּת֥וּב בּֽוֹ׃

vayyitten elohay el-libbi va'ekbetza et-hachorim ve'et-hasseganim ve'et-ha'am lehityaches va'emtza sefer hayyachas ha'olim barishona va'emtza katuv bo

5And my God put into my heart to gather together the nobles, and the rulers, and the people, that they might be reckoned by genealogy. And I found the book of the genealogy of them that came up at the first, and I found written therein:

⁶אֵ֣לֶּה ׀ בְּנֵ֣י הַמְּדִינָ֗ה הָעֹלִים֙ מִשְּׁבִ֣י הַגּוֹלָ֔ה אֲשֶׁ֣ר הֶגְלָ֔ה נְבוּכַדְנֶצַּ֖ר מֶ֣לֶךְ בָּבֶ֑ל וַיָּשׁ֧וּבוּ לִֽירוּשָׁלִַ֛ם וְלִיהוּדָ֖ה אִ֥ישׁ לְעִירֽוֹ׃

elle bene hammedina ha'olim mishevi haggola asher hegla nevukhadnetzar melekh bavel vayyashuvu lirushalam velihuda ish le'iro

6These are the children of the province, that went up out of the captivity of those that had been carried away, whom Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon had carried away, and that returned unto Jerusalem and to Judah, every one unto his city;

⁷הַבָּאִ֣ים עִם־זְרֻבָּבֶ֗ל יֵשׁ֡וּעַ נְחֶמְיָ֡ה עֲ֠זַרְיָה רַֽעַמְיָ֨ה נַחֲמָ֜נִי מָרְדֳּכַ֥י בִּלְשָׁ֛ן מִסְפֶּ֥רֶת בִּגְוַ֖י נְח֣וּם בַּעֲנָ֑ה מִסְפַּ֕ר אַנְשֵׁ֖י עַ֥ם יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃

habba'im im-zerubbavel yeshua nechemya azarya ra'amya nachamani mardokhay bilshan misperet bigvay nechum ba'ana mispar anshe am yisra'el

7who came with Zerubbabel, Jeshua, Nehemiah, Azariah, Raamiah, Nahamani, Mordecai, Bilshan, Mispereth, Bigvai, Nehum, Baanah. The number of the men of the people of Israel:

⁸בְּנֵ֣י פַרְעֹ֔שׁ אַלְפַּ֕יִם מֵאָ֖ה וְשִׁבְעִ֥ים וּשְׁנָֽיִם׃

8The children of Parosh, two thousand a hundred and seventy and two.

⁹בְּנֵ֣י שְׁפַטְיָ֔ה שְׁלֹ֥שׁ מֵא֖וֹת שִׁבְעִ֥ים וּשְׁנָֽיִם׃

bene shefatya shelosh meot shiv'im ushenayim

9The children of Shephatiah, three hundred seventy and two.

¹⁰בְּנֵ֣י אָרַ֔ח שֵׁ֥שׁ מֵא֖וֹת חֲמִשִּׁ֥ים וּשְׁנָֽיִם׃

bene arach shesh meot chamishim ushenayim

10The children of Arah, six hundred fifty and two.

¹¹בְּנֵֽי־פַחַ֥ת מוֹאָ֛ב לִבְנֵ֥י יֵשׁ֖וּעַ וְיוֹאָ֑ב אַלְפַּ֕יִם וּשְׁמֹנֶ֥ה מֵא֖וֹת שְׁמֹנָ֥ה עָשָֽׂר׃

bene-fachat mo'av livne yeshua veyo'av alpayim ushemone meot shemona asar

11The children of Pahath-moab, of the children of Jeshua and Joab, two thousand and eight hundred and eighteen.

¹²בְּנֵ֣י עֵילָ֔ם אֶ֕לֶף מָאתַ֖יִם חֲמִשִּׁ֥ים וְאַרְבָּעָֽה׃

bene elam elef matayim chamishim ve'arba'a

12The children of Elam, a thousand two hundred fifty and four.

¹³בְּנֵ֣י זַתּ֔וּא שְׁמֹנֶ֥ה מֵא֖וֹת אַרְבָּעִ֥ים וַחֲמִשָּֽׁה׃

bene zattu shemone meot arba'im vachamisha

13The children of Zattu, eight hundred forty and five.

¹⁴בְּנֵ֣י זַכָּ֔י שְׁבַ֥ע מֵא֖וֹת וְשִׁשִּֽׁים׃

bene zakkay sheva' meot veshishim

14The children of Zaccai, seven hundred and threescore.

¹⁵בְּנֵ֣י בִנּ֔וּי שֵׁ֥שׁ מֵא֖וֹת אַרְבָּעִ֥ים וּשְׁמֹנָֽה׃

bene vinnuy shesh meot arba'im ushemona

15The children of Binnui, six hundred forty and eight.

¹⁶בְּנֵ֣י בֵבָ֔י שֵׁ֥שׁ מֵא֖וֹת עֶשְׂרִ֥ים וּשְׁמֹנָֽה׃

bene vevay shesh meot esrim ushemona

16The children of Bebai, six hundred twenty and eight.

¹⁷בְּנֵ֣י עַזְגָּ֔ד אַלְפַּ֕יִם שְׁלֹ֥שׁ מֵא֖וֹת עֶשְׂרִ֥ים וּשְׁנָֽיִם׃

bene azgad alpayim shelosh meot esrim ushenayim

17The children of Azgad, two thousand three hundred twenty and two.

¹⁸בְּנֵי֙ אֲדֹ֣נִיקָ֔ם שֵׁ֥שׁ מֵא֖וֹת שִׁשִּׁ֥ים וְשִׁבְעָֽה׃

bene adonikam shesh meot shishim veshiv'a

18The children of Adonikam, six hundred threescore and seven.

¹⁹בְּנֵ֣י בִגְוָ֔י אַלְפַּ֖יִם שִׁשִּׁ֥ים וְשִׁבְעָֽה׃

bene vigvay alpayim shishim veshiv'a

19The children of Bigvai, two thousand threescore and seven.

²⁰בְּנֵ֣י עָדִ֔ין שֵׁ֥שׁ מֵא֖וֹת חֲמִשִּׁ֥ים וַחֲמִשָּֽׁה׃

bene adin shesh meot chamishim vachamisha

20The children of Adin, six hundred fifty and five.

²¹בְּנֵֽי־אָטֵ֥ר לְחִזְקִיָּ֖ה תִּשְׁעִ֥ים וּשְׁמֹנָֽה׃

bene-ater lechizkiyya tish'im ushemona

21The children of Ater, of Hezekiah, ninety and eight.

²²בְּנֵ֣י חָשֻׁ֔ם שְׁלֹ֥שׁ מֵא֖וֹת עֶשְׂרִ֥ים וּשְׁמֹנָֽה׃

bene chashum shelosh meot esrim ushemona

22The children of Hashum, three hundred twenty and eight.

²³בְּנֵ֣י בֵצָ֔י שְׁלֹ֥שׁ מֵא֖וֹת עֶשְׂרִ֥ים וְאַרְבָּעָֽה׃

bene vetzay shelosh meot esrim ve'arba'a

23The children of Bezai, three hundred twenty and four.

²⁴בְּנֵ֣י חָרִ֔יף מֵאָ֖ה שְׁנֵ֥ים עָשָֽׂר׃

bene charif me'a shenem asar

24The children of Hariph, a hundred and twelve.

²⁵בְּנֵ֥י גִבְע֖וֹן תִּשְׁעִ֥ים וַחֲמִשָּֽׁה׃

bene giv'on tish'im vachamisha

25The children of Gibeon, ninety and five.

²⁶אַנְשֵׁ֤י בֵֽית־לֶ֨חֶם֙ וּנְטֹפָ֔ה מֵאָ֖ה שְׁמֹנִ֥ים וּשְׁמֹנָֽה׃

anshe vet-lechem unetofa me'a shemonim ushemona

26The men of Beth-lehem and Netophah, a hundred fourscore and eight.

²⁷אַנְשֵׁ֣י עֲנָת֔וֹת מֵאָ֖ה עֶשְׂרִ֥ים וּשְׁמֹנָֽה׃

anshe anatot me'a esrim ushemona

27The men of Anathoth, a hundred twenty and eight.

²⁸אַנְשֵׁ֥י בֵית־עַזְמָ֖וֶת אַרְבָּעִ֥ים וּשְׁנָֽיִם׃

anshe vet-azmavet arba'im ushenayim

28The men of Beth-azmaveth, forty and two.

²⁹אַנְשֵׁ֨י קִרְיַ֤ת יְעָרִים֙ כְּפִירָ֣ה וּבְאֵר֔וֹת שְׁבַ֥ע מֵא֖וֹת אַרְבָּעִ֥ים וּשְׁלֹשָֽׁה׃

anshe kiryat ye'arim kefira uve'erot sheva' meot arba'im ushelosha

29The men of Kiriath-jearim, Chephirah, and Beeroth, seven hundred forty and three.

³⁰אַנְשֵׁ֤י הָֽרָמָה֙ וָגָ֔בַע שֵׁ֥שׁ מֵא֖וֹת עֶשְׂרִ֥ים וְאֶחָֽד׃

30The men of Ramah and Geba, six hundred twenty and one.

³¹אַנְשֵׁ֣י מִכְמָ֔ס מֵאָ֖ה וְעֶשְׂרִ֥ים וּשְׁנָֽיִם׃

anshe mikhmas me'a ve'esrim ushenayim

31The men of Michmas, a hundred and twenty and two.

³²אַנְשֵׁ֤י בֵֽית־אֵל֙ וְהָעָ֔י מֵאָ֖ה עֶשְׂרִ֥ים וּשְׁלֹשָֽׁה׃

anshe vet-el veha'ay me'a esrim ushelosha

32The men of Beth-el and Ai, a hundred twenty and three.

³³אַנְשֵׁ֥י נְב֛וֹ אַחֵ֖ר חֲמִשִּׁ֥ים וּשְׁנָֽיִם׃

anshe nevo acher chamishim ushenayim

33The men of the other Nebo, fifty and two.

³⁴בְּנֵי֙ עֵילָ֣ם אַחֵ֔ר אֶ֕לֶף מָאתַ֖יִם חֲמִשִּׁ֥ים וְאַרְבָּעָֽה׃

34The children of the other Elam, a thousand two hundred fifty and four. .

³⁵בְּנֵ֣י חָרִ֔ם שְׁלֹ֥שׁ מֵא֖וֹת וְעֶשְׂרִֽים׃

bene charim shelosh meot ve'esrim

35The children of Harim, three hundred and twenty.

³⁶בְּנֵ֣י יְרֵח֔וֹ שְׁלֹ֥שׁ מֵא֖וֹת אַרְבָּעִ֥ים וַחֲמִשָּֽׁה׃

bene yerecho shelosh meot arba'im vachamisha

36The children of Jericho, three hundred forty and five.

³⁷בְּנֵי־לֹד֙ חָדִ֣יד וְאוֹנ֔וֹ שְׁבַ֥ע מֵא֖וֹת וְעֶשְׂרִ֥ים וְאֶחָֽד׃

bene-lod chadid veono sheva' meot ve'esrim ve'echad

37The children of Lod, Hadid, and Ono, seven hundred twenty and one.

³⁸בְּנֵ֣י סְנָאָ֔ה שְׁלֹ֣שֶׁת אֲלָפִ֔ים תְּשַׁ֥ע מֵא֖וֹת וּשְׁלֹשִֽׁים׃

bene sena'a sheloshet alafim tesha' meot usheloshim

38The children of Senaah, three thousand nine hundred and thirty.

³⁹הַֽכֹּהֲנִ֑ים בְּנֵ֤י יְדַֽעְיָה֙ לְבֵ֣ית יֵשׁ֔וּעַ תְּשַׁ֥ע מֵא֖וֹת שִׁבְעִ֥ים וּשְׁלֹשָֽׁה׃

hakkohanim bene yeda'ya levet yeshua tesha' meot shiv'im ushelosha

39The priests: The children of Jedaiah, of the house of Jeshua, nine hundred seventy and three.

⁴⁰בְּנֵ֣י אִמֵּ֔ר אֶ֖לֶף חֲמִשִּׁ֥ים וּשְׁנָֽיִם׃

40The children of Immer, a thousand fifty and two.

⁴¹בְּנֵ֣י פַשְׁח֔וּר אֶ֕לֶף מָאתַ֖יִם אַרְבָּעִ֥ים וְשִׁבְעָֽה׃

bene fashchur elef matayim arba'im veshiv'a

41The children of Pashhur, a thousand two hundred forty and seven.

⁴²בְּנֵ֣י חָרִ֔ם אֶ֖לֶף שִׁבְעָ֥ה עָשָֽׂר׃

bene charim elef shiv'a asar

42The children of Harim, a thousand and seventeen.

⁴³הַלְוִיִּ֑ם בְּנֵֽי־יֵשׁ֧וּעַ לְקַדְמִיאֵ֛ל לִבְנֵ֥י לְהוֹדְוָ֖ה שִׁבְעִ֥ים וְאַרְבָּעָֽה׃

halviyyim bene-yeshua lekadmi'el livne lehodva shiv'im ve'arba'a

43The Levites: the children of Jeshua, of Kadmiel, of the children of Hodeiah, seventy and four.

⁴⁴הַֽמְשֹׁרְרִ֑ים בְּנֵ֣י אָסָ֔ף מֵאָ֖ה אַרְבָּעִ֥ים וּשְׁמֹנָֽה׃

hamshorrim bene asaf me'a arba'im ushemona

44The singers: the children of Asaph, a hundred forty and eight.

⁴⁵הַשֹּֽׁעֲרִ֗ים בְּנֵֽי־שַׁלּ֤וּם בְּנֵֽי־אָטֵר֙ בְּנֵֽי־טַלְמֹ֣ן בְּנֵֽי־עַקּ֔וּב בְּנֵ֥י חֲטִיטָ֖א בְּנֵ֣י שֹׁבָ֑י מֵאָ֖ה שְׁלֹשִׁ֥ים וּשְׁמֹנָֽה׃

hasho'arim bene-shallum bene-ater bene-talmon bene-akkuv bene chatita bene shovay me'a sheloshim ushemona

45The porters: the children of Shallum, the children of Ater, the children of Talmon, the children of Akkub, the children of Hatita, the children of Shobai, a hundred thirty and eight.

⁴⁶הַנְּתִינִ֑ים בְּנֵי־צִחָ֥א בְנֵי־חֲשֻׂפָ֖א בְּנֵ֥י טַבָּעֽוֹת׃

hannetinim bene-tzicha vene-chasufa bene tabba'ot

46The Nethinim: the children of Ziha, the children of Hasupha, the children of Tabbaoth;

⁴⁷בְּנֵי־קֵירֹ֥ס בְּנֵי־סִיעָ֖א בְּנֵ֥י פָדֽוֹן׃

bene-keros bene-si'a bene fadon

47the children of Keros, the children of Sia, the children of Padon;

⁴⁸בְּנֵי־לְבָנָ֥ה בְנֵי־חֲגָבָ֖ה בְּנֵ֥י שַׁלְמָֽי׃

bene-levana vene-chagava bene shalmay

48the children of Lebanah, the children of Hagaba, the children of Salmai;

⁴⁹בְּנֵי־חָנָ֥ן בְּנֵי־גִדֵּ֖ל בְּנֵי־גָֽחַר׃

bene-chanan bene-giddel bene-gachar

49the children of Hanan, the children of Giddel, the children of Gahar;

⁵⁰בְּנֵי־רְאָיָ֥ה בְנֵי־רְצִ֖ין בְּנֵ֥י נְקוֹדָֽא׃

bene-re'aya vene-retzin bene nekoda

50the children of Reaiah, the children of Rezin, the children of Nekoda;

⁵¹בְּנֵי־גַזָּ֥ם בְּנֵי־עֻזָּ֖א בְּנֵ֥י פָסֵֽחַ׃

bene-gazzam bene-uzza bene faseach

51the children of Gazzam, the children of Uzza, the children of Paseah;

⁵²בְּנֵי־בֵסַ֥י בְּנֵי־מְעוּנִ֖ים בְּנֵ֥י נפושסים [נְפִֽישְׁסִֽים]׃

bene-vesay bene-me'unim bene nefishsim

52the children of Besai, the children of Meunim, the children of Nephishesim;

⁵³בְּנֵי־בַקְבּ֥וּק בְּנֵֽי־חֲקוּפָ֖א בְּנֵ֥י חַרְחֽוּר׃

bene-vakbuk bene-chakufa bene charchur

53the children of Bakbuk, the children of Hakupha, the children of Harhur;

⁵⁴בְּנֵי־בַצְלִ֥ית בְּנֵֽי־מְחִידָ֖א בְּנֵ֥י חַרְשָֽׁא׃

bene-vatzlit bene-mechida bene charsha

54the children of Bazlith, the children of Mehida, the children of Harsha;

⁵⁵בְּנֵי־בַרְק֥וֹס בְּֽנֵי־סִֽיסְרָ֖א בְּנֵי־תָֽמַח׃

bene-varkos bene-sisra bene-tamach

55the children of Barkos, the children of Sisera, the children of Temah;

⁵⁶בְּנֵ֥י נְצִ֖יחַ בְּנֵ֥י חֲטִיפָֽא׃

bene netziach bene chatifa

56the children of Neziah, the children of Hatipha.

⁵⁷בְּנֵ֖י עַבְדֵ֣י שְׁלֹמֹ֑ה בְּנֵי־סוֹטַ֥י בְּנֵי־סוֹפֶ֖רֶת בְּנֵ֥י פְרִידָֽא׃

bene avde shelomo bene-sotay bene-soferet bene ferida

57The children of Solomon’s servants: the children of Sotai, the children of Sophereth, the children of Perida;

⁵⁸בְּנֵי־יַעְלָ֥א בְנֵי־דַרְק֖וֹן בְּנֵ֥י גִדֵּֽל׃

bene-ya'la vene-darkon bene giddel

58the children of Jala, the children of Darkon, the children of Giddel;

⁵⁹בְּנֵ֧י שְׁפַטְיָ֣ה בְנֵֽי־חַטִּ֗יל בְּנֵ֛י פֹּכֶ֥רֶת הַצְּבָיִ֖ים בְּנֵ֥י אָמֽוֹן׃

bene shefatya vene-chattil bene pokheret hatzevayim bene amon

59the children of Shephatiah, the children of Hattil, the children of Pochereth-hazzebaim, the children of Amon.

⁶⁰כָּל־הַ֨נְּתִינִ֔ים וּבְנֵ֖י עַבְדֵ֣י שְׁלֹמֹ֑ה שְׁלֹ֥שׁ מֵא֖וֹת תִּשְׁעִ֥ים וּשְׁנָֽיִם׃

kal-hannetinim uvene avde shelomo shelosh meot tish'im ushenayim

60All the Nethinim, and the children of Solomon’s servants, were three hundred ninety and two.

⁶¹וְאֵ֗לֶּה הָֽעוֹלִים֙ מִתֵּ֥ל מֶ֨לַח֙ תֵּ֣ל חַרְשָׁ֔א כְּר֥וּב אַדּ֖וֹן וְאִמֵּ֑ר וְלֹ֣א יָכְל֗וּ לְהַגִּ֤יד בֵּית־אֲבוֹתָם֙ וְזַרְעָ֔ם אִ֥ם מִיִּשְׂרָאֵ֖ל הֵֽם׃

ve'elle ha'olim mittel melach tel charsha keruv addon ve'immer velo yakhlu lehaggid bet-avotam vezar'am im miyyisra'el hem

61And these were they that went up from Tel-melah, Tel-harsha, Cherub, Addon, and Immer; but they could not tell their fathers’houses, nor their seed, whether they were of Israel:

⁶²בְּנֵי־דְלָיָ֥ה בְנֵֽי־טוֹבִיָּ֖ה בְּנֵ֣י נְקוֹדָ֑א שֵׁ֥שׁ מֵא֖וֹת וְאַרְבָּעִ֥ים וּשְׁנָֽיִם׃

bene-delaya vene-toviyya bene nekoda shesh meot ve'arba'im ushenayim

62the children of Delaiah, the children of Tobiah, the children of Nekoda, six hundred forty and two.

⁶³וּמִן־הַכֹּ֣הֲנִ֔ים בְּנֵ֥י חֳבַיָּ֖ה בְּנֵ֣י הַקּ֑וֹץ בְּנֵ֣י בַרְזִלַּ֗י אֲשֶׁ֣ר לָ֠קַח מִבְּנ֞וֹת בַּרְזִלַּ֤י הַגִּלְעָדִי֙ אִשָּׁ֔ה וַיִּקָּרֵ֖א עַל־שְׁמָֽם׃

umin-hakkohanim bene chovayya bene hakkotz bene varzillay asher lakach mibbenot barzillay haggil'adi isha vayyikkare al-shemam

63And of the priests: the children of Habaiah, the children of Hakkoz, the children of Barzillai, who took a wife of the daughters of Barzillai the Gileadite, and was called after their name.

⁶⁴אֵ֗לֶּה בִּקְשׁ֧וּ כְתָבָ֛ם הַמִּתְיַחְשִׂ֖ים וְלֹ֣א נִמְצָ֑א וַיְגֹֽאֲל֖וּ מִן־הַכְּהֻנָּֽה׃

elle bikshu khetavam hammityachsim velo nimtza vaygo'alu min-hakkehunna

64These sought their register, that is, the genealogy, but it was not found; therefore were they deemed polluted and put from the priesthood.

⁶⁵וַיֹּ֤אמֶר הַתִּרְשָׁ֨תָא֙ לָהֶ֔ם אֲשֶׁ֥ר לֹא־יֹאכְל֖וּ מִקֹּ֣דֶשׁ הַקֳּדָשִׁ֑ים עַ֛ד עֲמֹ֥ד הַכֹּהֵ֖ן לְאוּרִ֥ים וְתוּמִּֽים׃

vayyomer hattirshata lahem asher lo-yokhlu mikkodesh hakkodashim ad amod hakkohen leurim vetumim

65And the Tirshatha said unto them, that they should not eat of the most holy things, till there stood up a priest with Urim and Thummim.

⁶⁶כָּל־הַקָּהָ֖ל כְּאֶחָ֑ד אַרְבַּ֣ע רִבּ֔וֹא אַלְפַּ֖יִם שְׁלֹשׁ־מֵא֥וֹת וְשִׁשִּֽׁים׃

kal-hakkahal ke'echad arba' ribbo alpayim shelosh-meot veshishim

66The whole congregation together was forty and two thousand three hundred and threescore,

⁶⁷מִ֠לְּבַד עַבְדֵיהֶ֤ם וְאַמְהֹֽתֵיהֶם֙ אֵ֔לֶּה שִׁבְעַ֣ת אֲלָפִ֔ים שְׁלֹ֥שׁ מֵא֖וֹת שְׁלֹשִׁ֣ים וְשִׁבְעָ֑ה וְלָהֶ֗ם מְשֹֽׁרֲרִים֙ וּמְשֹׁ֣רֲר֔וֹת מָאתַ֖יִם וְאַרְבָּעִ֥ים וַחֲמִשָּֽׁה׃

millevad avdehem ve'amhotehem elle shiv'at alafim shelosh meot sheloshim veshiv'a velahem meshorarim umeshorarot matayim ve'arba'im vachamisha

67beside their men-servants and their maid-servants, of whom there were seven thousand three hundred thirty and seven; and they had two hundred forty and five singing men and singing women.

⁶⁸גְּמַלִּ֕ים אַרְבַּ֥ע מֵא֖וֹת שְׁלֹשִׁ֣ים וַחֲמִשָּׁ֑ה חֲמֹרִ֕ים שֵׁ֣שֶׁת אֲלָפִ֔ים שְׁבַ֥ע מֵא֖וֹת וְעֶשְׂרִֽים׃

gemallim arba' meot sheloshim vachamisha chamorim sheshet alafim sheva' meot ve'esrim

68Their camels, four hundred thirty and five; their asses, six thousand seven hundred and twenty.

⁶⁹וּמִקְצָת֙ רָאשֵׁ֣י הָֽאָב֔וֹת נָתְנ֖וּ לַמְּלָאכָ֑ה הַתִּרְשָׁ֜תָא נָתַ֣ן לָאוֹצָ֗ר זָהָ֞ב דַּרְכְּמֹנִ֥ים אֶ֨לֶף֙ מִזְרָק֣וֹת חֲמִשִּׁ֔ים כָּתְנוֹת֙ כֹּֽהֲנִ֔ים שְׁלֹשִׁ֖ים וַחֲמֵ֥שׁ מֵאֽוֹת׃

umiktzat rashe ha'avot natnu lammelakha hattirshata natan laotzar zahav darkemonim elef mizrakot chamishim katnot kohanim sheloshim vachamesh meot

69And some from among the heads of fathers’houses gave unto the work. The Tirshatha gave to the treasury a thousand darics of gold, fifty basins, five hundred and thirty priests’tunics.

⁷⁰וּמֵֽרָאשֵׁ֣י הָֽאָב֗וֹת נָֽתְנוּ֙ לְאוֹצַ֣ר הַמְּלָאכָ֔ה זָהָ֕ב דַּרְכְּמוֹנִ֖ים שְׁתֵּ֣י רִבּ֑וֹת וְכֶ֕סֶף מָנִ֖ים אַלְפַּ֥יִם וּמָאתָֽיִם׃

umerashe ha'avot natnu leotzar hammelakha zahav darkemonim shete ribbot vekhesef manim alpayim umatayim

70And some of the heads of fathers’houses gave into the treasury of the work twenty thousand darics of gold, and two thousand and two hundred pounds of silver.

⁷¹וַאֲשֶׁ֣ר נָתְנוּ֮ שְׁאֵרִ֣ית הָעָם֒ זָהָ֗ב דַּרְכְּמוֹנִים֙ שְׁתֵּ֣י רִבּ֔וֹא וְכֶ֖סֶף מָנִ֣ים אַלְפָּ֑יִם וְכָתְנֹ֥ת כֹּֽהֲנִ֖ים שִׁשִּׁ֥ים וְשִׁבְעָֽה׃

va'asher natnu she'erit ha'am zahav darkemonim shete ribbo vekhesef manim alpayim vekhatnot kohanim shishim veshiv'a

71And that which the rest of the people gave was twenty thousand darics of gold, and two thousand pounds of silver, and threescore and seven priests’tunics.

⁷²וַיֵּשְׁב֣וּ הַכֹּהֲנִ֣ים וְהַלְוִיִּ֡ם וְהַשּׁוֹעֲרִים֩ וְהַמְשֹׁרְרִ֨ים וּמִן־הָעָ֧ם וְהַנְּתִינִ֛ים וְכָל־יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל בְּעָרֵיהֶ֑ם וַיִּגַּע֙ הַחֹ֣דֶשׁ הַשְּׁבִיעִ֔י וּבְנֵ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל בְּעָרֵיהֶֽם׃

vayyeshvu hakkohanim vehalviyyim vehasho'arim vehamshorrim umin-ha'am vehannetinim vekhal-yisra'el be'arehem vayyigga' hachodesh hashevi'i uvene yisra'el be'arehem

72So the priests, and the Levites, and the porters, and the singers, and some of the people, and the Nethinim, and all Israel, dwelt in their cities. And when the seventh month was come, and the children of Israel were in their cities,
