¹וַיֵּשְׁב֥וּ שָׂרֵֽי־הָעָ֖ם בִּירוּשָׁלִָ֑ם וּשְׁאָ֣ר הָ֠עָם הִפִּ֨ילוּ גוֹרָל֜וֹת לְהָבִ֣יא ׀ אֶחָ֣ד מִן־הָעֲשָׂרָ֗ה לָשֶׁ֨בֶת֙ בִּֽירוּשָׁלִַ֨ם֙ עִ֣יר הַקֹּ֔דֶשׁ וְתֵ֥שַׁע הַיָּד֖וֹת בֶּעָרִֽים׃

vayyeshvu sare-ha'am birushalam ushe'ar ha'am hippilu goralot lehavi echad min-ha'asara lashevet birushalam ir hakkodesh vetesha' hayyadot be'arim

And the princes of the people dwelt in Jerusalem; the rest of the people also cast lots, to bring one of ten to dwell in Jerusalem the holy city, and nine parts in the other cities.

²וַֽיְבָרֲכ֖וּ הָעָ֑ם לְכֹל֙ הָֽאֲנָשִׁ֔ים הַמִּֽתְנַדְּבִ֔ים לָשֶׁ֖בֶת בִּירוּשָׁלִָֽם׃

vayvarakhu ha'am lekhol ha'anashim hammitnaddevim lashevet birushalam

And the people blessed all the men that willingly offered themselves to dwell in Jerusalem.

³וְאֵ֨לֶּה֙ רָאשֵׁ֣י הַמְּדִינָ֔ה אֲשֶׁ֥ר יָשְׁב֖וּ בִּירוּשָׁלִָ֑ם וּבְעָרֵ֣י יְהוּדָ֗ה יָֽשְׁב֞וּ אִ֤ישׁ בַּאֲחֻזָּתוֹ֙ בְּעָ֣רֵיהֶ֔ם יִשְׂרָאֵ֤ל הַכֹּהֲנִים֙ וְהַלְוִיִּ֣ם וְהַנְּתִינִ֔ים וּבְנֵ֖י עַבְדֵ֥י שְׁלֹמֹֽה׃

ve'elle rashe hammedina asher yashvu birushalam uve'are yehuda yashvu ish ba'achuzzato be'arehem yisra'el hakkohanim vehalviyyim vehannetinim uvene avde shelomo

Now these are the chiefs of the province that dwelt in Jerusalem; but in the cities of Judah dwelt every one in his possession in their cities, to wit, Israelites, the priests, and the Levites, and the Nethinim, and the children of Solomon’s servants.

⁴וּבִֽירוּשָׁלִַ֨ם֙ יָֽשְׁב֔וּ מִבְּנֵ֥י יְהוּדָ֖ה וּמִבְּנֵ֣י בִנְיָמִ֑ן מִבְּנֵ֣י יְ֠הוּדָה עֲתָיָ֨ה בֶן־עֻזִּיָּ֜ה בֶּן־זְכַרְיָ֧ה בֶן־אֲמַרְיָ֛ה בֶּן־שְׁפַטְיָ֥ה בֶן־מַהֲלַלְאֵ֖ל מִבְּנֵי־פָֽרֶץ׃

uvirushalam yashvu mibbene yehuda umibbene vinyamin mibbene yehuda ataya ven-uzziyya ben-zekharya ven-amarya ben-shefatya ven-mahalal'el mibbene-faretz

And in Jerusalem dwelt certain of the children of Judah, and of the children of Benjamin. Of the children of Judah: Athaiah the son of Uzziah, the son of Zechariah, the son of Amariah, the son of Shephatiah, the son of Mahalalel, of the children of Perez;

⁵וּמַעֲשֵׂיָ֣ה בֶן־בָּר֣וּךְ בֶּן־כָּל־חֹ֠זֶה בֶּן־חֲזָיָ֨ה בֶן־עֲדָיָ֧ה בֶן־יוֹיָרִ֛יב בֶּן־זְכַרְיָ֖ה בֶּן־הַשִּׁלֹנִֽי׃

uma'aseya ven-barukh ben-kal-choze ben-chazaya ven-adaya ven-yoyariv ben-zekharya ben-hashiloni

and Maaseiah the son of Baruch, the son of Colhozeh, the son of Hazaiah, the son of Adaiah, the son of Joiarib, the son of Zechariah, the son of the Shilonite.

⁶כָּל־בְּנֵי־פֶ֕רֶץ הַיֹּשְׁבִ֖ים בִּירוּשָׁלִָ֑ם אַרְבַּ֥ע מֵא֛וֹת שִׁשִּׁ֥ים וּשְׁמֹנָ֖ה אַנְשֵׁי־חָֽיִל׃

kal-bene-feretz hayyoshvim birushalam arba' meot shishim ushemona anshe-chayil

All the sons of Perez that dwelt in Jerusalem were four hundred threescore and eight valiant men.

⁷וְאֵ֖לֶּה בְּנֵ֣י בִנְיָמִ֑ן סַלֻּ֡א בֶּן־מְשֻׁלָּ֡ם בֶּן־יוֹעֵ֡ד בֶּן־פְּדָיָה֩ בֶן־ק֨וֹלָיָ֧ה בֶן־מַעֲשֵׂיָ֛ה בֶּן־אִֽיתִיאֵ֖ל בֶּן־יְשַֽׁעְיָֽה׃

ve'elle bene vinyamin sallu ben-meshullam ben-yo'ed ben-pedaya ven-kolaya ven-ma'aseya ben-iti'el ben-yesha'ya

And these are the sons of Benjamin: Sallu the son of Meshullam, the son of Joed, the son of Pedaiah, the son of Kolaiah, the son of Maaseiah, the son of Ithiel, the son of Jeshaiah.

⁸וְאַחֲרָ֖יו גַּבַּ֣י סַלָּ֑י תְּשַׁ֥ע מֵא֖וֹת עֶשְׂרִ֥ים וּשְׁמֹנָֽה׃

ve'acharav gabbay sallay tesha' meot esrim ushemona

And after him Gabbai, Sallai, nine hundred twenty and eight.

⁹וְיוֹאֵ֥ל בֶּן־זִכְרִ֖י פָּקִ֣יד עֲלֵיהֶ֑ם וִיהוּדָ֧ה בֶן־הַסְּנוּאָ֛ה עַל־הָעִ֖יר מִשְׁנֶֽה׃

veyo'el ben-zikhri pakid alehem vihuda ven-hassenu'a al-ha'ir mishne

And Joel the son of Zichri was their overseer; and Judah the son of Hassenuah was second over the city.

¹⁰מִן־הַֽכֹּהֲנִ֑ים יְדַֽעְיָ֥ה בֶן־יוֹיָרִ֖יב יָכִֽין׃

min-hakkohanim yeda'ya ven-yoyariv yakhin

Of the priests: Jedaiah the son of Joiarib, Jachin,

¹¹שְׂרָיָ֨ה בֶן־חִלְקִיָּ֜ה בֶּן־מְשֻׁלָּ֣ם בֶּן־צָד֗וֹק בֶּן־מְרָיוֹת֙ בֶּן־אֲחִיט֔וּב נְגִ֖ד בֵּ֥ית הָאֱלֹהִֽים׃

seraya ven-chilkiyya ben-meshullam ben-tzadok ben-merayot ben-achituv negid bet ha'elohim

Seraiah the son of Hilkiah, the son of Meshullam, the son of Zadok, the son of Meraioth, the son of Ahitub, the ruler of the house of God,

¹²וַאֲחֵיהֶ֗ם עֹשֵׂ֤י הַמְּלָאכָה֙ לַבַּ֔יִת שְׁמֹנֶ֥ה מֵא֖וֹת עֶשְׂרִ֣ים וּשְׁנָ֑יִם וַ֠עֲדָיָה בֶּן־יְרֹחָ֤ם בֶּן־פְּלַלְיָה֙ בֶּן־אַמְצִ֣י בֶן־זְכַרְיָ֔ה בֶּן־פַּשְׁח֖וּר בֶּן־מַלְכִּיָּֽה׃

va'achehem ose hammelakha labbayit shemone meot esrim ushenayim va'adaya ben-yerocham ben-pelalya ben-amtzi ven-zekharya ben-pashchur ben-malkiyya

and their brethren that did the work of the house, eight hundred twenty and two; and Adaiah the son of Jeroham, the son of Pelaliah, the son of Amzi, the son of Zechariah, the son of Pashhur, the son of Malchijah,

¹³וְאֶחָיו֙ רָאשִׁ֣ים לְאָב֔וֹת מָאתַ֖יִם אַרְבָּעִ֣ים וּשְׁנָ֑יִם וַעֲמַשְׁסַ֧י בֶּן־עֲזַרְאֵ֛ל בֶּן־אַחְזַ֥י בֶּן־מְשִׁלֵּמ֖וֹת בֶּן־אִמֵּֽר׃

ve'echav rashim le'avot matayim arba'im ushenayim va'amashsay ben-azar'el ben-achzay ben-meshillemot ben-immer

and his brethren, chiefs of fathers’houses, two hundred forty and two; and Amashsai the son of Azarel, the son of Ahzai, the son of Meshillemoth, the son of Immer,

¹⁴וַאֲחֵיהֶם֙ גִּבּ֣וֹרֵי חַ֔יִל מֵאָ֖ה עֶשְׂרִ֣ים וּשְׁמֹנָ֑ה וּפָקִ֣יד עֲלֵיהֶ֔ם זַבְדִּיאֵ֖ל בֶּן־הַגְּדוֹלִֽים׃

va'achehem gibbore chayil me'a esrim ushemona ufakid alehem zavdi'el ben-haggedolim

and their brethren, mighty men of valour, a hundred twenty and eight; and their overseer was Zabdiel, the son of Haggedolim.

¹⁵וּמִֽן־הַלְוִיִּ֑ם שְׁמַעְיָ֧ה בֶן־חַשּׁ֛וּב בֶּן־עַזְרִיקָ֥ם בֶּן־חֲשַׁבְיָ֖ה בֶּן־בּוּנִּֽי׃

umin-halviyyim shema'ya ven-chashuv ben-azrikam ben-chashavya ben-buni

And of the Levites: Shemaiah the son of Hasshub, the son of Azrikam, the son of Hashabiah, the son of Bunni;

¹⁶וְשַׁבְּתַ֨י וְיוֹזָבָ֜ד עַל־הַמְּלָאכָ֤ה הַחִֽיצֹנָה֙ לְבֵ֣ית הָאֱלֹהִ֔ים מֵרָאשֵׁ֖י הַלְוִיִּֽם׃

veshabbetay veyozavad al-hammelakha hachitzona levet ha'elohim merashe halviyyim

and Shabbethai and Jozabad, of the chiefs of the Levites, who had the oversight of the outward business of the house of God;

¹⁷וּמַתַּנְיָ֣ה בֶן־מִ֠יכָה בֶּן־זַבְדִּ֨י בֶן־אָסָ֜ף רֹ֗אשׁ הַתְּחִלָּה֙ יְהוֹדֶ֣ה לַתְּפִלָּ֔ה וּבַקְבֻּקְיָ֖ה מִשְׁנֶ֣ה מֵאֶחָ֑יו וְעַבְדָּא֙ בֶּן־שַׁמּ֔וּעַ בֶּן־גָּלָ֖ל בֶּן־ידיתון [יְדוּתֽוּן]׃

umattanya ven-mikha ben-zavdi ven-asaf rosh hattechilla yehode lattefilla uvakbukya mishne me'echav ve'avda ben-shammua ben-galal ben-yedutun

and Mattaniah the son of Mica, the son of Zabdi, the son of Asaph, who was the chief to begin the thanksgiving in prayer, and Bakbukiah, the second among his brethren; and Abda the son of Shammua, the son of Galal, the son of Jeduthun.

¹⁸כָּל־הַלְוִיִּם֙ בְּעִ֣יר הַקֹּ֔דֶשׁ מָאתַ֖יִם שְׁמֹנִ֥ים וְאַרְבָּעָֽה׃

kal-halviyyim be'ir hakkodesh matayim shemonim ve'arba'a

All the Levites in the holy city were two hundred fourscore and four.

¹⁹וְהַשּֽׁוֹעֲרִים֙ עַקּ֣וּב טַלְמ֔וֹן וַאֲחֵיהֶ֖ם הַשֹּׁמְרִ֣ים בַּשְּׁעָרִ֑ים מֵאָ֖ה שִׁבְעִ֥ים וּשְׁנָֽיִם׃

vehasho'arim akkuv talmon va'achehem hashomrim bashe'arim me'a shiv'im ushenayim

Moreover the porters, Akkub, Talmon, and their brethren, that kept watch at the gates, were a hundred seventy and two.

²⁰וּשְׁאָ֨ר יִשְׂרָאֵ֜ל הַכֹּהֲנִ֤ים הַלְוִיִּם֙ בְּכָל־עָרֵ֣י יְהוּדָ֔ה אִ֖ישׁ בְּנַחֲלָתֽוֹ׃

ushe'ar yisra'el hakkohanim halviyyim bekhal-are yehuda ish benachalato

And the residue of Israel, of the priests, the Levites, were in all the cities of Judah, every one in his inheritance.

²¹וְהַנְּתִינִ֖ים יֹשְׁבִ֣ים בָּעֹ֑פֶל וְצִיחָ֥א וְגִשְׁפָּ֖א עַל־הַנְּתִינִֽים׃

vehannetinim yoshvim ba'ofel vetzicha vegishpa al-hannetinim

But the Nethinim dwelt in Ophel; and Ziha and Gishpa were over the Nethinim.

²²וּפְקִ֤יד הַלְוִיִּם֙ בִּיר֣וּשָׁלִַ֔ם עֻזִּ֤י בֶן־בָּנִי֙ בֶּן־חֲשַׁבְיָ֔ה בֶּן־מַתַּנְיָ֖ה בֶּן־מִיכָ֑א מִבְּנֵ֤י אָסָף֙ הַמְשֹׁ֣רְרִ֔ים לְנֶ֖גֶד מְלֶ֥אכֶת בֵּית־הָאֱלֹהִֽים׃

ufekid halviyyim birushalam uzzi ven-bani ben-chashavya ben-mattanya ben-mikha mibbene asaf hamshorrim leneged melekhet bet-ha'elohim

The overseer also of the Levites at Jerusalem was Uzzi the son of Bani, the son of Hashabiah, the son of Mattaniah, the son of Mica, of the sons of Asaph, the singers, over the business of the house of God.

²³כִּֽי־מִצְוַ֥ת הַמֶּ֖לֶךְ עֲלֵיהֶ֑ם וַאֲמָנָ֥ה עַל־הַמְשֹׁרְרִ֖ים דְּבַר־י֥וֹם בְּיוֹמֽוֹ׃

ki-mitzvat hammelekh alehem va'amana al-hamshorrim devar-yom beyomo

For there was a commandment from the king concerning them, and a sure ordinance concerning the singers, as every day required.

²⁴וּפְתַֽחְיָ֨ה בֶּן־מְשֵֽׁיזַבְאֵ֜ל מִבְּנֵי־זֶ֤רַח בֶּן־יְהוּדָה֙ לְיַ֣ד הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ לְכָל־דָּבָ֖ר לָעָֽם׃

ufetachya ben-meshezav'el mibbene-zerach ben-yehuda leyad hammelekh lekhal-davar la'am

And Pethahiah the son of Meshezabel, of the children of Zerah the son of Judah, was at the king’s hand in all matters concerning the people.

²⁵וְאֶל־הַחֲצֵרִ֖ים בִּשְׂדֹתָ֑ם מִבְּנֵ֣י יְהוּדָ֗ה יָֽשְׁב֞וּ בְּקִרְיַ֤ת הָֽאַרְבַּע֙ וּבְנֹתֶ֔יהָ וּבְדִיבֹן֙ וּבְנֹתֶ֔יהָ וּבִֽיקַּבְצְאֵ֖ל וַחֲצֵרֶֽיהָ׃

ve'el-hachatzerim bisdotam mibbene yehuda yashvu bekiryat ha'arba' uvenoteha uvedivon uvenoteha uvikavtze'el vachatzereha

And for the villages, with their fields, some of the children of Judah dwelt in Kiriath-arba and the towns thereof, and in Dibon and the towns thereof, and in Jekabzeel and the villages thereof;

²⁶וּבְיֵשׁ֥וּעַ וּבְמוֹלָדָ֖ה וּבְבֵ֥ית פָּֽלֶט׃

uveyeshua uvemolada uvevet palet

and in Jeshua, and in Moladah, and Beth-pelet;

²⁷וּבַחֲצַ֥ר שׁוּעָ֛ל וּבִבְאֵ֥ר שֶׁ֖בַע וּבְנֹתֶֽיהָ׃

uvachatzar shu'al uviv'er sheva' uvenoteha

and in Hazar-shual, and in Beer-sheba and the towns thereof;

²⁸וּבְצִֽקְלַ֥ג וּבִמְכֹנָ֖ה וּבִבְנֹתֶֽיהָ׃

uvetziklag uvimkhona uvivnoteha

and in Ziklag, and in Meconah and in the towns thereof;

²⁹וּבְעֵ֥ין רִמּ֛וֹן וּבְצָרְעָ֖ה וּבְיַרְמֽוּת׃

uve'en rimmon uvetzar'a uveyarmut

and in En-rimmon, and in Zorah, and in Jarmuth;

³⁰זָנֹ֤חַ עֲדֻלָּם֙ וְחַצְרֵיהֶ֔ם לָכִישׁ֙ וּשְׂדֹתֶ֔יהָ עֲזֵקָ֖ה וּבְנֹתֶ֑יהָ וַיַּחֲנ֥וּ מִבְּאֵֽר־שֶׁ֖בַע עַד־גֵּֽיא־הִנֹּֽם׃

zanoach adullam vechatzrehem lakhish usedoteha azeka uvenoteha vayyachanu mibbe'er-sheva' ad-ge-hinnom

Zanoah, Adullam, and their villages, Lachish and the fields thereof, Azekah and the towns thereof. So they encamped from Beer-sheba unto the valley of Hinnom.

³¹וּבְנֵ֥י בִנְיָמִ֖ן מִגָּ֑בַע מִכְמָ֣שׂ וְעַיָּ֔ה וּבֵֽית־אֵ֖ל וּבְנֹתֶֽיהָ׃

uvene vinyamin miggava' mikhmas ve'ayya uvet-el uvenoteha

And the children of Benjamin from Geba onward, at Michmas and Aijah, and at Beth-el and the towns thereof;

³²עֲנָת֥וֹת נֹ֖ב עֲנָֽנְיָֽה׃

anatot nov ananya

at Anathoth, Nob, Ananiah;

³³חָצ֥וֹר ׀ רָמָ֖ה גִּתָּֽיִם׃

chatzor rama gittayim

Hazor, Ramah, Gittaim;

³⁴חָדִ֥יד צְבֹעִ֖ים נְבַלָּֽט׃

chadid tzevo'im nevallat

Hadid, Zeboim, Neballat;

³⁵לֹ֥ד וְאוֹנ֖וֹ גֵּ֥י הַחֲרָשִֽׁים׃

lod veono ge hacharashim

Lod, and Ono, Ge-harashim.

³⁶וּמִן־הַלְוִיִּ֔ם מַחְלְק֥וֹת יְהוּדָ֖ה לְבִנְיָמִֽין׃

umin-halviyyim machlekot yehuda levinyamin

And of the Levites, certain courses in Judah were joined to Benjamin.

¹⁴and their brothers, mighty men of valor, one hundred twenty-eight; and their overseer was Zabdiel, the son of Haggedolim.

¹⁹Moreover the gatekeepers, Akkub, Talmon, and their brothers, who kept watch at the gates, were one hundred seventy-two.

²⁰The residue of Israel, of the priests, and the Levites were in all the cities of Judah, everyone in his inheritance.

²¹But the temple servants lived in Ophel; and Ziha and Gishpa were over the temple servants.

²²The overseer also of the Levites at Jerusalem was Uzzi the son of Bani, the son of Hashabiah, the son of Mattaniah, the son of Mica, of the sons of Asaph, the singers responsible for the service of God’s house.

²³For there was a commandment from the king concerning them, and a settled provision for the singers, as every day required.

²⁴Pethahiah the son of Meshezabel, of the children of Zerah the son of Judah, was at the king’s hand in all matters concerning the people.

²⁵As for the villages with their fields, some of the children of Judah lived in Kiriath Arba and its towns, in Dibon and its towns, in Jekabzeel and its villages,

²⁶in Yeshua, in Moladah, Beth Pelet,

²⁷in Hazar Shual, in Beersheba and its towns,

²⁸in Ziklag, in Meconah and in its towns,

²⁹in En Rimmon, in Zorah, in Jarmuth,

³⁰Zanoah, Adullam, and their villages, Lachish and its fields, and Azekah and its towns. So they encamped from Beersheba to the valley of Hinnom.
