Leviticus 9 וַיִּקְרָא

¹וַיְהִי֙ בַּיּ֣וֹם הַשְּׁמִינִ֔י קָרָ֣א מֹשֶׁ֔ה לְאַהֲרֹ֖ן וּלְבָנָ֑יו וּלְזִקְנֵ֖י יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃

vayhi bayyom hashemini kara moshe le'aharon ulevanav ulezikne yisra'el

And it came to pass on the eighth day, that Moses called Aaron and his sons, and the elders of Israel;

²וַיֹּ֣אמֶר אֶֽל־אַהֲרֹ֗ן קַח־לְ֠ךָ עֵ֣גֶל בֶּן־בָּקָ֧ר לְחַטָּ֛את וְאַ֥יִל לְעֹלָ֖ה תְּמִימִ֑ם וְהַקְרֵ֖ב לִפְנֵ֥י יְהוָֽה׃

vayyomer el-aharon kach-lekha egel ben-bakar lechattat ve'ayil le'ola temimim vehakrev lifne ADONAI

and he said unto Aaron: ‘Take thee a bull-calf for a sin-offering, and a ram for a burnt-offering, without blemish, and offer them before the LORD.

³וְאֶל־בְּנֵ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל תְּדַבֵּ֣ר לֵאמֹ֑ר קְח֤וּ שְׂעִיר־עִזִּים֙ לְחַטָּ֔את וְעֵ֨גֶל וָכֶ֧בֶשׂ בְּנֵי־שָׁנָ֛ה תְּמִימִ֖ם לְעֹלָֽה׃

ve'el-bene yisra'el tedabber lemor kechu se'ir-izzim lechattat ve'egel vakheves bene-shana temimim le'ola

And unto the children of Israel thou shalt speak, saying: Take ye a he-goat for a sin-offering; and a calf and a lamb, both of the first year, without blemish, for a burnt-offering;

⁴וְשׁ֨וֹר וָאַ֜יִל לִשְׁלָמִ֗ים לִזְבֹּ֨חַ֙ לִפְנֵ֣י יְהוָ֔ה וּמִנְחָ֖ה בְּלוּלָ֣ה בַשָּׁ֑מֶן כִּ֣י הַיּ֔וֹם יְהוָ֖ה נִרְאָ֥ה אֲלֵיכֶֽם׃

veshor va'ayil lishlamim lizboach lifne ADONAI umincha belula vashamen ki hayyom ADONAI nir'a alekhem

and an ox and a ram for peace-offerings, to sacrifice before the LORD; and a meal-offering mingled with oil; for to-day the LORD appeareth unto you.’

⁵וַיִּקְח֗וּ אֵ֚ת אֲשֶׁ֣ר צִוָּ֣ה מֹשֶׁ֔ה אֶל־פְּנֵ֖י אֹ֣הֶל מוֹעֵ֑ד וַֽיִּקְרְבוּ֙ כָּל־הָ֣עֵדָ֔ה וַיַּֽעַמְד֖וּ לִפְנֵ֥י יְהוָֽה׃

vayyikchu et asher tzivva moshe el-pene ohel mo'ed vayyikrevu kal-ha'eda vayya'amdu lifne ADONAI

And they brought that which Moses commanded before the tent of meeting; and all the congregation drew near and stood before the LORD.

⁶וַיֹּ֣אמֶר מֹשֶׁ֔ה זֶ֧ה הַדָּבָ֛ר אֲשֶׁר־צִוָּ֥ה יְהוָ֖ה תַּעֲשׂ֑וּ וְיֵרָ֥א אֲלֵיכֶ֖ם כְּב֥וֹד יְהוָֽה׃

vayyomer moshe ze haddavar asher-tzivva ADONAI ta'asu veyera alekhem kevod ADONAI

And Moses said: ‘This is the thing which the LORD commanded that ye should do; that the glory of the LORD may appear unto you.’

⁷וַיֹּ֨אמֶר מֹשֶׁ֜ה אֶֽל־אַהֲרֹ֗ן קְרַ֤ב אֶל־הַמִּזְבֵּ֨חַ֙ וַעֲשֵׂ֞ה אֶת־חַטָּֽאתְךָ֙ וְאֶת־עֹ֣לָתֶ֔ךָ וְכַפֵּ֥ר בַּֽעַדְךָ֖ וּבְעַ֣ד הָעָ֑ם וַעֲשֵׂ֞ה אֶת־קָרְבַּ֤ן הָעָם֙ וְכַפֵּ֣ר בַּֽעֲדָ֔ם כַּאֲשֶׁ֖ר צִוָּ֥ה יְהוָֽה׃

vayyomer moshe el-aharon kerav el-hammizbeach va'ase et-chattatkha ve'et-olatekha vekhapper ba'adkha uve'ad ha'am va'ase et-karban ha'am vekhapper ba'adam ka'asher tzivva ADONAI

And Moses said unto Aaron: ‘Draw near unto the altar, and offer thy sin-offering, and thy burnt-offering, and make atonement for thyself, and for the people; and present the offering of the people, and make atonement for them; as the LORD commanded.’

⁸וַיִּקְרַ֥ב אַהֲרֹ֖ן אֶל־הַמִּזְבֵּ֑חַ וַיִּשְׁחַ֛ט אֶת־עֵ֥גֶל הַחַטָּ֖את אֲשֶׁר־לֽוֹ׃

vayyikrav aharon el-hammizbeach vayyishchat et-egel hachattat asher-lo

So Aaron drew near unto the altar, and slew the calf of the sin-offering, which was for himself.

⁹וַ֠יַּקְרִבוּ בְּנֵ֨י אַהֲרֹ֣ן אֶת־הַדָּם֮ אֵלָיו֒ וַיִּטְבֹּ֤ל אֶצְבָּעוֹ֙ בַּדָּ֔ם וַיִּתֵּ֖ן עַל־קַרְנ֣וֹת הַמִּזְבֵּ֑חַ וְאֶת־הַדָּ֣ם יָצַ֔ק אֶל־יְס֖וֹד הַמִּזְבֵּֽחַ׃

vayyakrivu bene aharon et-haddam elav vayyitbol etzba'o baddam vayyitten al-karnot hammizbeach ve'et-haddam yatzak el-yesod hammizbeach

And the sons of Aaron presented the blood unto him; and he dipped his finger in the blood, and put it upon the horns of the altar, and poured out the blood at the base of the altar.

¹⁰וְאֶת־הַחֵ֨לֶב וְאֶת־הַכְּלָיֹ֜ת וְאֶת־הַיֹּתֶ֤רֶת מִן־הַכָּבֵד֙ מִן־הַ֣חַטָּ֔את הִקְטִ֖יר הַמִּזְבֵּ֑חָה כַּאֲשֶׁ֛ר צִוָּ֥ה יְהוָ֖ה אֶת־מֹשֶֽׁה׃

ve'et-hachelev ve'et-hakkelayot ve'et-hayyoteret min-hakkaved min-hachattat hiktir hammizbecha ka'asher tzivva ADONAI et-moshe

But the fat, and the kidneys, and the lobe of the liver of the sin-offering, he made smoke upon the altar; as the LORD commanded Moses.

¹¹וְאֶת־הַבָּשָׂ֖ר וְאֶת־הָע֑וֹר שָׂרַ֣ף בָּאֵ֔שׁ מִח֖וּץ לַֽמַּחֲנֶֽה׃

ve'et-habbasar ve'et-ha'or saraf ba'esh michutz lammachane

And the flesh and the skin were burnt with fire without the camp.

¹²וַיִּשְׁחַ֖ט אֶת־הָעֹלָ֑ה וַ֠יַּמְצִאוּ בְּנֵ֨י אַהֲרֹ֤ן אֵלָיו֙ אֶת־הַדָּ֔ם וַיִּזְרְקֵ֥הוּ עַל־הַמִּזְבֵּ֖חַ סָבִֽיב׃

vayyishchat et-ha'ola vayyamtziu bene aharon elav et-haddam vayyizrekehu al-hammizbeach saviv

And he slew the burnt-offering; and Aaron’s sons delivered unto him the blood, and he dashed it against the altar round about.

¹³וְאֶת־הָעֹלָ֗ה הִמְצִ֧יאוּ אֵלָ֛יו לִנְתָחֶ֖יהָ וְאֶת־הָרֹ֑אשׁ וַיַּקְטֵ֖ר עַל־הַמִּזְבֵּֽחַ׃

ve'et-ha'ola himtziu elav lintacheha ve'et-harosh vayyakter al-hammizbeach

And they delivered the burnt-offering unto him, piece by piece, and the head; and he made them smoke upon the altar.

¹⁴וַיִּרְחַ֥ץ אֶת־הַקֶּ֖רֶב וְאֶת־הַכְּרָעָ֑יִם וַיַּקְטֵ֥ר עַל־הָעֹלָ֖ה הַמִּזְבֵּֽחָה׃

vayyirchatz et-hakkerev ve'et-hakkera'ayim vayyakter al-ha'ola hammizbecha

And he washed the inwards and the legs, and made them smoke upon the burnt-offering on the altar.

¹⁵וַיַּקְרֵ֕ב אֵ֖ת קָרְבַּ֣ן הָעָ֑ם וַיִּקַּ֞ח אֶת־שְׂעִ֤יר הַֽחַטָּאת֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר לָעָ֔ם וַיִּשְׁחָטֵ֥הוּ וַֽיְחַטְּאֵ֖הוּ כָּרִאשֽׁוֹן׃

vayyakrev et karban ha'am vayyikkach et-se'ir hachattat asher la'am vayyishchatehu vaychatte'ehu karishon

And the people’s offering was presented; and he took the goat of the sin-offering which was for the people, and slew it, and offered it for sin, as the first.

¹⁶וַיַּקְרֵ֖ב אֶת־הָעֹלָ֑ה וַֽיַּעֲשֶׂ֖הָ כַּמִּשְׁפָּֽט׃

vayyakrev et-ha'ola vayya'aseha kammishpat

And the burnt-offering was presented; and he offered it according to the ordinance.

¹⁷וַיַּקְרֵב֮ אֶת־הַמִּנְחָה֒ וַיְמַלֵּ֤א כַפּוֹ֙ מִמֶּ֔נָּה וַיַּקְטֵ֖ר עַל־הַמִּזְבֵּ֑חַ מִלְּבַ֖ד עֹלַ֥ת הַבֹּֽקֶר׃

vayyakrev et-hammincha vaymalle khappo mimmenna vayyakter al-hammizbeach millevad olat habboker

And the meal-offering was presented; and he filled his hand therefrom, and made it smoke upon the altar, besides the burnt-offering of the morning.

¹⁸וַיִּשְׁחַ֤ט אֶת־הַשּׁוֹר֙ וְאֶת־הָאַ֔יִל זֶ֥בַח הַשְּׁלָמִ֖ים אֲשֶׁ֣ר לָעָ֑ם וַ֠יַּמְצִאוּ בְּנֵ֨י אַהֲרֹ֤ן אֶת־הַדָּם֙ אֵלָ֔יו וַיִּזְרְקֵ֥הוּ עַל־הַמִּזְבֵּ֖חַ סָבִֽיב׃

vayyishchat et-hashor ve'et-ha'ayil zevach hashelamim asher la'am vayyamtziu bene aharon et-haddam elav vayyizrekehu al-hammizbeach saviv

He slew also the ox and the ram, the sacrifice of peace-offerings, which was for the people; and Aaron’s sons delivered unto him the blood, and he dashed it against the altar round about,

¹⁹וְאֶת־הַחֲלָבִ֖ים מִן־הַשּׁ֑וֹר וּמִן־הָאַ֔יִל הָֽאַלְיָ֤ה וְהַֽמְכַסֶּה֙ וְהַכְּלָיֹ֔ת וְיֹתֶ֖רֶת הַכָּבֵֽד׃

ve'et-hachalavim min-hashor umin-ha'ayil ha'alya vehamkhasse vehakkelayot veyoteret hakkaved

and the fat of the ox, and of the ram, the fat tail, and that which covereth the inwards, and the kidneys, and the lobe of the liver.

²⁰וַיָּשִׂ֥ימוּ אֶת־הַחֲלָבִ֖ים עַל־הֶחָז֑וֹת וַיַּקְטֵ֥ר הַחֲלָבִ֖ים הַמִּזְבֵּֽחָה׃

vayyasimu et-hachalavim al-hechazot vayyakter hachalavim hammizbecha

And they put the fat upon the breasts, and he made the fat smoke upon the altar.

²¹וְאֵ֣ת הֶחָז֗וֹת וְאֵת֙ שׁ֣וֹק הַיָּמִ֔ין הֵנִ֧יף אַהֲרֹ֛ן תְּנוּפָ֖ה לִפְנֵ֣י יְהוָ֑ה כַּאֲשֶׁ֖ר צִוָּ֥ה מֹשֶֽׁה׃

ve'et hechazot ve'et shok hayyamin henif aharon tenufa lifne ADONAI ka'asher tzivva moshe

And the breasts and the right thigh Aaron waved for a wave-offering before the LORD; as Moses commanded.

²²וַיִּשָּׂ֨א אַהֲרֹ֧ן אֶת־ידו [יָדָ֛יו] אֶל־הָעָ֖ם וַֽיְבָרְכֵ֑ם וַיֵּ֗רֶד מֵעֲשֹׂ֧ת הַֽחַטָּ֛את וְהָעֹלָ֖ה וְהַשְּׁלָמִֽים׃

vayyissa aharon et-yadav el-ha'am vayvarkhem vayyered me'asot hachattat veha'ola vehashelamim

And Aaron lifted up his hands toward the people, and blessed them; and he came down from offering the sin-offering, and the burnt-offering, and the peace-offerings.

²³וַיָּבֹ֨א מֹשֶׁ֤ה וְאַהֲרֹן֙ אֶל־אֹ֣הֶל מוֹעֵ֔ד וַיֵּ֣צְא֔וּ וַֽיְבָרֲכ֖וּ אֶת־הָעָ֑ם וַיֵּרָ֥א כְבוֹד־יְהוָ֖ה אֶל־כָּל־הָעָֽם׃

vayyavo moshe ve'aharon el-ohel mo'ed vayyetzu vayvarakhu et-ha'am vayyera khevod-ADONAI el-kal-ha'am

And Moses and Aaron went into the tent of meeting, and came out, and blessed the people; and the glory of the LORD appeared unto all the people.

²⁴וַתֵּ֤צֵא אֵשׁ֙ מִלִּפְנֵ֣י יְהוָ֔ה וַתֹּ֨אכַל֙ עַל־הַמִּזְבֵּ֔חַ אֶת־הָעֹלָ֖ה וְאֶת־הַחֲלָבִ֑ים וַיַּ֤רְא כָּל־הָעָם֙ וַיָּרֹ֔נּוּ וַֽיִּפְּל֖וּ עַל־פְּנֵיהֶֽם׃

vattetze esh millifne ADONAI vattokhal al-hammizbeach et-ha'ola ve'et-hachalavim vayyar kal-ha'am vayyaronnu vayyippelu al-penehem

And there came forth fire from before the LORD, and consumed upon the altar the burnt-offering and the fat; and when all the people saw it, they shouted, and fell on their faces.

¹On the eighth day, Moses called Aaron and his sons, and the elders of Israel;

²and he said to Aaron, “Take a calf from the herd for a sin offering, and a ram for a burnt offering, without defect, and offer them before the LORD.

³You shall speak to the children of Israel, saying, ‘Take a male goat for a sin offering; and a calf and a lamb, both a year old, without defect, for a burnt offering;

⁴and a bull and a ram for peace offerings, to sacrifice before the LORD; and a meal offering mixed with oil: for today the LORD appears to you.’”

⁵They brought what Moses commanded before the Tent of Meeting. All the congregation came near and stood before the LORD.

⁶Moses said, “This is the thing which the LORD commanded that you should do; and the LORD’s glory shall appear to you.”

⁷Moses said to Aaron, “Draw near to the altar, and offer your sin offering, and your burnt offering, and make atonement for yourself, and for the people; and offer the offering of the people, and make atonement for them, as the LORD commanded.”

⁸So Aaron came near to the altar, and killed the calf of the sin offering, which was for himself.

⁹The sons of Aaron presented the blood to him; and he dipped his finger in the blood, and put it on the horns of the altar, and poured out the blood at the base of the altar;

¹⁰but the fat, and the kidneys, and the cover from the liver of the sin offering, he burned upon the altar, as the LORD commanded Moses.

¹¹The meat and the skin he burned with fire outside the camp.

¹²He killed the burnt offering; and Aaron’s sons delivered the blood to him, and he sprinkled it around on the altar.

¹³They delivered the burnt offering to him, piece by piece, and the head. He burned them upon the altar.

¹⁴He washed the innards and the legs, and burned them on the burnt offering on the altar.

¹⁵He presented the people’s offering, and took the goat of the sin offering which was for the people, and killed it, and offered it for sin, like the first.

¹⁶He presented the burnt offering, and offered it according to the ordinance.

¹⁷He presented the meal offering, and filled his hand from there, and burned it upon the altar, in addition to the burnt offering of the morning.

¹⁸He also killed the bull and the ram, the sacrifice of peace offerings, which was for the people. Aaron’s sons delivered to him the blood, which he sprinkled around on the altar;

¹⁹and the fat of the bull and of the ram, the fat tail, and that which covers the innards, and the kidneys, and the cover of the liver;

²⁰and they put the fat upon the breasts, and he burned the fat on the altar.

²¹Aaron waved the breasts and the right thigh for a wave offering before the LORD, as Moses commanded.

²²Aaron lifted up his hands toward the people, and blessed them; and he came down from offering the sin offering, and the burnt offering, and the peace offerings.

²³Moses and Aaron went into the Tent of Meeting, and came out, and blessed the people; and the LORD’s glory appeared to all the people.

²⁴Fire came out from before the LORD, and consumed the burnt offering and the fat upon the altar. When all the people saw it, they shouted, and fell on their faces.
