¹וַיֹּ֤אמֶר יְהוָה֙ לְנֹ֔חַ בֹּֽא־אַתָּ֥ה וְכָל־בֵּיתְךָ֖ אֶל־הַתֵּבָ֑ה כִּֽי־אֹתְךָ֥ רָאִ֛יתִי צַדִּ֥יק לְפָנַ֖י בַּדּ֥וֹר הַזֶּֽה׃

vayyomer ADONAI lenoach bo-atta vekhal-betkha el-hatteva ki-otkha ra'iti tzaddik lefanay baddor hazze

And the LORD said unto Noah: ‘Come thou and all thy house into the ark; for thee have I seen righteous before Me in this generation.

²מִכֹּ֣ל ׀ הַבְּהֵמָ֣ה הַטְּהוֹרָ֗ה תִּֽקַּח־לְךָ֛ שִׁבְעָ֥ה שִׁבְעָ֖ה אִ֣ישׁ וְאִשְׁתּ֑וֹ וּמִן־הַבְּהֵמָ֡ה אֲ֠שֶׁר לֹ֣א טְהֹרָ֥ה הִ֛וא שְׁנַ֖יִם אִ֥ישׁ וְאִשְׁתּֽוֹ׃

mikkol habbehema hattehora tikkach-lekha shiv'a shiv'a ish ve'ishto umin-habbehema asher lo tehora hiv shenayim ish ve'ishto

Of every clean beast thou shalt take to thee seven and seven, each with his mate; and of the beasts that are not clean two [and two], each with his mate;

³גַּ֣ם מֵע֧וֹף הַשָּׁמַ֛יִם שִׁבְעָ֥ה שִׁבְעָ֖ה זָכָ֣ר וּנְקֵבָ֑ה לְחַיּ֥וֹת זֶ֖רַע עַל־פְּנֵ֥י כָל־הָאָֽרֶץ׃

gam me'of hashamayim shiv'a shiv'a zakhar unekeva lechayyot zera' al-pene khal-ha'aretz

of the fowl also of the air, seven and seven, male and female; to keep seed alive upon the face of all the earth.

⁴כִּי֩ לְיָמִ֨ים ע֜וֹד שִׁבְעָ֗ה אָֽנֹכִי֙ מַמְטִ֣יר עַל־הָאָ֔רֶץ אַרְבָּעִ֣ים י֔וֹם וְאַרְבָּעִ֖ים לָ֑יְלָה וּמָחִ֗יתִי אֶֽת־כָּל־הַיְקוּם֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר עָשִׂ֔יתִי מֵעַ֖ל פְּנֵ֥י הָֽאֲדָמָֽה׃

ki leyamim od shiv'a anokhi mamtir al-ha'aretz arba'im yom ve'arba'im layla umachiti et-kal-haykum asher asiti me'al pene ha'adama

For yet seven days, and I will cause it to rain upon the earth forty days and forty nights; and every living substance that I have made will I blot out from off the face of the earth.’

⁵וַיַּ֖עַשׂ נֹ֑חַ כְּכֹ֥ל אֲשֶׁר־צִוָּ֖הוּ יְהוָֽה׃

vayya'as noach kekhol asher-tzivvahu ADONAI

And Noah did according unto all that the LORD commanded him.

⁶וְנֹ֕חַ בֶּן־שֵׁ֥שׁ מֵא֖וֹת שָׁנָ֑ה וְהַמַּבּ֣וּל הָיָ֔ה מַ֖יִם עַל־הָאָֽרֶץ׃

venoach ben-shesh meot shana vehammabbul haya mayim al-ha'aretz

And Noah was six hundred years old when the flood of waters was upon the earth.

⁷וַיָּ֣בֹא נֹ֗חַ וּ֠בָנָיו וְאִשְׁתּ֧וֹ וּנְשֵֽׁי־בָנָ֛יו אִתּ֖וֹ אֶל־הַתֵּבָ֑ה מִפְּנֵ֖י מֵ֥י הַמַּבּֽוּל׃

vayyavo noach uvanav ve'ishto uneshe-vanav itto el-hatteva mippene me hammabbul

And Noah went in, and his sons, and his wife, and his sons’ wives with him, into the ark, before the waters of the flood.

⁸מִן־הַבְּהֵמָה֙ הַטְּהוֹרָ֔ה וּמִן־הַ֨בְּהֵמָ֔ה אֲשֶׁ֥ר אֵינֶ֖נָּה טְהֹרָ֑ה וּמִ֨ן־הָע֔וֹף וְכֹ֥ל אֲשֶׁר־רֹמֵ֖שׂ עַל־הָֽאֲדָמָֽה׃

min-habbehema hattehora umin-habbehema asher enenna tehora umin-ha'of vekhol asher-romes al-ha'adama

Of clean beasts, and of beasts that are not clean, and of fowls, and of every thing that creepeth upon the ground,

⁹שְׁנַ֨יִם שְׁנַ֜יִם בָּ֧אוּ אֶל־נֹ֛חַ אֶל־הַתֵּבָ֖ה זָכָ֣ר וּנְקֵבָ֑ה כַּֽאֲשֶׁ֛ר צִוָּ֥ה אֱלֹהִ֖ים אֶת־נֹֽחַ׃

shenayim shenayim bau el-noach el-hatteva zakhar unekeva ka'asher tzivva elohim et-noach

there went in two and two unto Noah into the ark, male and female, as God commanded Noah.

¹⁰וַֽיְהִ֖י לְשִׁבְעַ֣ת הַיָּמִ֑ים וּמֵ֣י הַמַּבּ֔וּל הָי֖וּ עַל־הָאָֽרֶץ׃

vayhi leshiv'at hayyamim ume hammabbul hayu al-ha'aretz

And it came to pass after the seven days, that the waters of the flood were upon the earth.

¹¹בִּשְׁנַ֨ת שֵׁשׁ־מֵא֤וֹת שָׁנָה֙ לְחַיֵּי־נֹ֔חַ בַּחֹ֨דֶשׁ֙ הַשֵּׁנִ֔י בְּשִׁבְעָֽה־עָשָׂ֥ר י֖וֹם לַחֹ֑דֶשׁ בַּיּ֣וֹם הַזֶּ֗ה נִבְקְעוּ֙ כָּֽל־מַעְיְנֹת֙ תְּה֣וֹם רַבָּ֔ה וַאֲרֻבֹּ֥ת הַשָּׁמַ֖יִם נִפְתָּֽחוּ׃

bishnat shesh-meot shana lechayye-noach bachodesh hasheni beshiv'a-asar yom lachodesh bayyom hazze nivke'u kal-ma'yenot tehom rabba va'arubbot hashamayim niftachu

In the six hundredth year of Noah’s life, in the second month, on the seventeenth day of the month, on the same day were all the fountains of the great deep broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened.

¹²וַֽיְהִ֥י הַגֶּ֖שֶׁם עַל־הָאָ֑רֶץ אַרְבָּעִ֣ים י֔וֹם וְאַרְבָּעִ֖ים לָֽיְלָה׃

vayhi haggeshem al-ha'aretz arba'im yom ve'arba'im layla

And the rain was upon the earth forty days and forty nights.

¹³בְּעֶ֨צֶם הַיּ֤וֹם הַזֶּה֙ בָּ֣א נֹ֔חַ וְשֵׁם־וְחָ֥ם וָיֶ֖פֶת בְּנֵי־נֹ֑חַ וְאֵ֣שֶׁת נֹ֗חַ וּשְׁלֹ֧שֶׁת נְשֵֽׁי־בָנָ֛יו אִתָּ֖ם אֶל־הַתֵּבָֽה׃

be'etzem hayyom hazze ba noach veshem-vecham vayefet bene-noach ve'eshet noach usheloshet neshe-vanav ittam el-hatteva

In the selfsame day entered Noah, and Shem, and Ham, and Japheth, the sons of Noah, and Noah’s wife, and the three wives of his sons with them, into the ark;

¹⁴הֵ֜מָּה וְכָל־הַֽחַיָּ֣ה לְמִינָ֗הּ וְכָל־הַבְּהֵמָה֙ לְמִינָ֔הּ וְכָל־הָרֶ֛מֶשׂ הָרֹמֵ֥שׂ עַל־הָאָ֖רֶץ לְמִינֵ֑הוּ וְכָל־הָע֣וֹף לְמִינֵ֔הוּ כֹּ֖ל צִפּ֥וֹר כָּל־כָּנָֽף׃

hemma vekhal-hachayya leminah vekhal-habbehema leminah vekhal-haremes haromes al-ha'aretz leminehu vekhal-ha'of leminehu kol tzippor kal-kanaf

they, and every beast after its kind, and all the cattle after their kind, and every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth after its kind, and every fowl after its kind, every bird of every sort.

¹⁵וַיָּבֹ֥אוּ אֶל־נֹ֖חַ אֶל־הַתֵּבָ֑ה שְׁנַ֤יִם שְׁנַ֨יִם֙ מִכָּל־הַבָּשָׂ֔ר אֲשֶׁר־בּ֖וֹ ר֥וּחַ חַיִּֽים׃

vayyavou el-noach el-hatteva shenayim shenayim mikkal-habbasar asher-bo ruach chayyim

And they went in unto Noah into the ark, two and two of all flesh wherein is the breath of life.

¹⁶וְהַבָּאִ֗ים זָכָ֨ר וּנְקֵבָ֤ה מִכָּל־בָּשָׂר֙ בָּ֔אוּ כַּֽאֲשֶׁ֛ר צִוָּ֥ה אֹת֖וֹ אֱלֹהִ֑ים וַיִּסְגֹּ֥ר יְהוָ֖ה בַּֽעֲדֽוֹ׃

vehabba'im zakhar unekeva mikkal-basar bau ka'asher tzivva oto elohim vayyisgor ADONAI ba'ado

And they that went in, went in male and female of all flesh, as God commanded him; and the LORD shut him in.

¹⁷וַֽיְהִ֧י הַמַּבּ֛וּל אַרְבָּעִ֥ים י֖וֹם עַל־הָאָ֑רֶץ וַיִּרְבּ֣וּ הַמַּ֗יִם וַיִּשְׂאוּ֙ אֶת־הַתֵּבָ֔ה וַתָּ֖רָם מֵעַ֥ל הָאָֽרֶץ׃

vayhi hammabbul arba'im yom al-ha'aretz vayyirbu hammayim vayyisu et-hatteva vattaram me'al ha'aretz

And the flood was forty days upon the earth; and the waters increased, and bore up the ark, and it was lifted up above the earth.

¹⁸וַיִּגְבְּר֥וּ הַמַּ֛יִם וַיִּרְבּ֥וּ מְאֹ֖ד עַל־הָאָ֑רֶץ וַתֵּ֥לֶךְ הַתֵּבָ֖ה עַל־פְּנֵ֥י הַמָּֽיִם׃

vayyigberu hammayim vayyirbu me'od al-ha'aretz vattelekh hatteva al-pene hammayim

And the waters prevailed, and increased greatly upon the earth; and the ark went upon the face of the waters.

¹⁹וְהַמַּ֗יִם גָּֽבְר֛וּ מְאֹ֥ד מְאֹ֖ד עַל־הָאָ֑רֶץ וַיְכֻסּ֗וּ כָּל־הֶֽהָרִים֙ הַגְּבֹהִ֔ים אֲשֶׁר־תַּ֖חַת כָּל־הַשָּׁמָֽיִם׃

vehammayim gavru me'od me'od al-ha'aretz vaykhussu kal-heharim haggevohim asher-tachat kal-hashamayim

And the waters prevailed exceedingly upon the earth; and all the high mountains that were under the whole heaven were covered.

²⁰חֲמֵ֨שׁ עֶשְׂרֵ֤ה אַמָּה֙ מִלְמַ֔עְלָה גָּבְר֖וּ הַמָּ֑יִם וַיְכֻסּ֖וּ הֶהָרִֽים׃

chamesh esre amma milma'la gavru hammayim vaykhussu heharim

Fifteen cubits upward did the waters prevail; and the mountains were covered.

²¹וַיִּגְוַ֞ע כָּל־בָּשָׂ֣ר ׀ הָרֹמֵ֣שׂ עַל־הָאָ֗רֶץ בָּע֤וֹף וּבַבְּהֵמָה֙ וּבַ֣חַיָּ֔ה וּבְכָל־הַשֶּׁ֖רֶץ הַשֹּׁרֵ֣ץ עַל־הָאָ֑רֶץ וְכֹ֖ל הָאָדָֽם׃

vayyigva' kal-basar haromes al-ha'aretz ba'of uvabbehema uvachayya uvekhal-hasheretz hashoretz al-ha'aretz vekhol ha'adam

And all flesh perished that moved upon the earth, both fowl, and cattle, and beast, and every swarming thing that swarmeth upon the earth, and every man;

²²כֹּ֡ל אֲשֶׁר֩ נִשְׁמַת־ר֨וּחַ חַיִּ֜ים בְּאַפָּ֗יו מִכֹּ֛ל אֲשֶׁ֥ר בֶּחָֽרָבָ֖ה מֵֽתוּ׃

kol asher nishmat-ruach chayyim be'appav mikkol asher becharava metu

all in whose nostrils was the breath of the spirit of life, whatsoever was in the dry land, died.

²³וַיִּ֜מַח אֶֽת־כָּל־הַיְק֣וּם ׀ אֲשֶׁ֣ר ׀ עַל־פְּנֵ֣י הָֽאֲדָמָ֗ה מֵאָדָ֤ם עַד־בְּהֵמָה֙ עַד־רֶ֨מֶשׂ֙ וְעַד־ע֣וֹף הַשָּׁמַ֔יִם וַיִּמָּח֖וּ מִן־הָאָ֑רֶץ וַיִשָּׁ֧אֶר אַךְ־נֹ֛חַ וַֽאֲשֶׁ֥ר אִתּ֖וֹ בַּתֵּבָֽה׃

vayyimach et-kal-haykum asher al-pene ha'adama me'adam ad-behema ad-remes ve'ad-of hashamayim vayyimmachu min-ha'aretz vayisha'er akh-noach va'asher itto batteva

And He blotted out every living substance which was upon the face of the ground, both man, and cattle, and creeping thing, and fowl of the heaven; and they were blotted out from the earth; and Noah only was left, and they that were with him in the ark.

²⁴וַיִּגְבְּר֥וּ הַמַּ֖יִם עַל־הָאָ֑רֶץ חֲמִשִּׁ֥ים וּמְאַ֖ת יֽוֹם׃

vayyigberu hammayim al-ha'aretz chamishim ume'at yom

And the waters prevailed upon the earth a hundred and fifty days.

¹The LORD said to Noah, “Come with all of your household into the ship, for I have seen your righteousness before me in this generation.

²You shall take seven pairs of every clean animal with you, the male and his female. Of the animals that are not clean, take two, the male and his female.

³Also of the birds of the sky, seven and seven, male and female, to keep seed alive on the surface of all the earth.

⁴In seven days, I will cause it to rain on the earth for forty days and forty nights. I will destroy every living thing that I have made from the surface of the ground.”

⁵Noah did everything that the LORD commanded him.

⁶Noah was six hundred years old when the flood of waters came on the earth.

⁷Noah went into the ship with his sons, his wife, and his sons’ wives, because of the floodwaters.

⁸Clean animals, unclean animals, birds, and everything that creeps on the ground

⁹went by pairs to Noah into the ship, male and female, as God commanded Noah.

¹⁰After the seven days, the floodwaters came on the earth.

¹¹In the six hundredth year of Noah’s life, in the second month, on the seventeenth day of the month, on that day all the fountains of the great deep burst open, and the sky’s windows opened.

¹²It rained on the earth forty days and forty nights.

¹³In the same day Noah, and Shem, Ham, and Japheth—the sons of Noah—and Noah’s wife and the three wives of his sons with them, entered into the ship—

¹⁴they, and every animal after its kind, all the livestock after their kind, every creeping thing that creeps on the earth after its kind, and every bird after its kind, every bird of every sort.

¹⁵Pairs from all flesh with the breath of life in them went into the ship to Noah.

¹⁶Those who went in, went in male and female of all flesh, as God commanded him; then the LORD shut him in.

¹⁷The flood was forty days on the earth. The waters increased, and lifted up the ship, and it was lifted up above the earth.

¹⁸The waters rose, and increased greatly on the earth; and the ship floated on the surface of the waters.

¹⁹The waters rose very high on the earth. All the high mountains that were under the whole sky were covered.

²⁰The waters rose fifteen cubits higher, and the mountains were covered.

²¹All flesh died that moved on the earth, including birds, livestock, animals, every creeping thing that creeps on the earth, and every man.

²²All on the dry land, in whose nostrils was the breath of the spirit of life, died.

²³Every living thing was destroyed that was on the surface of the ground, including man, livestock, creeping things, and birds of the sky. They were destroyed from the earth. Only Noah was left, and those who were with him in the ship.

²⁴The waters flooded the earth one hundred fifty days.
