¹וַיְהִ֞י מִקֵּ֣ץ ׀ עֶשְׂרִ֣ים שָׁנָ֗ה אֲשֶׁ֨ר בָּנָ֧ה שְׁלֹמֹ֛ה אֶת־בֵּ֥ית יְהוָ֖ה וְאֶת־בֵּיתֽוֹ׃

vayhi mikketz esrim shana asher bana shelomo et-bet ADONAI ve'et-beto

And it came to pass at the end of twenty years, wherein Solomon had built the house of the LORD, and his own house,

²וְהֶעָרִ֗ים אֲשֶׁ֨ר נָתַ֤ן חוּרָם֙ לִשְׁלֹמֹ֔ה בָּנָ֥ה שְׁלֹמֹ֖ה אֹתָ֑ם וַיּ֥וֹשֶׁב שָׁ֖ם אֶת־בְּנֵ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃

vehe'arim asher natan churam lishlomo bana shelomo otam vayyoshev sham et-bene yisra'el

that the cities which Huram had given to Solomon, Solomon built them, and caused the children of Israel to dwell there.

³וַיֵּ֤לֶךְ שְׁלֹמֹה֙ חֲמָ֣ת צוֹבָ֔ה וַיֶּחֱזַ֖ק עָלֶֽיהָ׃

vayyelekh shelomo chamat tzova vayyechezak aleha

And Solomon went to Hamath-zobah, and prevailed against it.

⁴וַיִּ֥בֶן אֶת־תַּדְמֹ֖ר בַּמִּדְבָּ֑ר וְאֵת֙ כָּל־עָרֵ֣י הַֽמִּסְכְּנ֔וֹת אֲשֶׁ֥ר בָּנָ֖ה בַּחֲמָֽת׃

vayyiven et-tadmor bammidbar ve'et kal-are hammiskenot asher bana bachamat

And he built Tadmor in the wilderness, and all the store-cities, which he built in Hamath.

⁵וַיִּ֜בֶן אֶת־בֵּ֤ית חוֹרוֹן֙ הָֽעֶלְי֔וֹן וְאֶת־בֵּ֥ית חוֹר֖וֹן הַתַּחְתּ֑וֹן עָרֵ֣י מָצ֔וֹר חוֹמ֖וֹת דְּלָתַ֥יִם וּבְרִֽיחַ׃

vayyiven et-bet choron ha'elyon ve'et-bet choron hattachton are matzor chomot delatayim uveriach

Also he built Beth-horon the upper, and Beth-horon the nether, fortified cities, with walls, gates, and bars;

⁶וְאֶֽת־בַּעֲלָ֗ת וְאֵ֨ת כָּל־עָרֵ֤י הַֽמִּסְכְּנוֹת֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר הָי֣וּ לִשְׁלֹמֹ֔ה וְאֵת֙ כָּל־עָרֵ֣י הָרֶ֔כֶב וְאֵ֖ת עָרֵ֣י הַפָּרָשִׁ֑ים וְאֵ֣ת ׀ כָּל־חֵ֣שֶׁק שְׁלֹמֹ֗ה אֲשֶׁ֤ר חָשַׁק֙ לִבְנ֤וֹת בִּירֽוּשָׁלִַ֨ם֙ וּבַלְּבָנ֔וֹן וּבְכֹ֖ל אֶ֥רֶץ מֶמְשַׁלְתּֽוֹ׃

ve'et-ba'alat ve'et kal-are hammiskenot asher hayu lishlomo ve'et kal-are harekhev ve'et are happarashim ve'et kal-cheshek shelomo asher chashak livnot birushalam uvallevanon uvekhol eretz memshalto

and Baalath, and all the store-cities that Solomon had, and all the cities for his chariots, and the cities for his horsemen, and all that Solomon desired to build for his pleasure in Jerusalem, and in Lebanon, and in all the land of his dominion.

⁷כָּל־הָ֠עָם הַנּוֹתָ֨ר מִן־הַחִתִּ֜י וְהָאֱמֹרִ֤י וְהַפְּרִזִּי֙ וְהַחִוִּ֣י וְהַיְבוּסִ֔י אֲשֶׁ֛ר לֹ֥א מִיִּשְׂרָאֵ֖ל הֵֽמָּה׃

kal-ha'am hannotar min-hachitti veha'emori vehapperizzi vehachivvi vehayvusi asher lo miyyisra'el hemma

As for all the people that were left of the Hittites, and the Amorites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites, who were not of Israel;

⁸מִן־בְּנֵיהֶ֗ם אֲשֶׁ֨ר נוֹתְר֤וּ אַחֲרֵיהֶם֙ בָּאָ֔רֶץ אֲשֶׁ֥ר לֹֽא־כִלּ֖וּם בְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל וַיַּעֲלֵ֤ם שְׁלֹמֹה֙ לְמַ֔ס עַ֖ד הַיּ֥וֹם הַזֶּֽה׃

min-benehem asher notru acharehem ba'aretz asher lo-khillum bene yisra'el vayya'alem shelomo lemas ad hayyom hazze

of their children that were left after them in the land, whom the children of Israel consumed not, of them did Solomon raise a levy of bondservants, unto this day.

⁹וּמִן־בְּנֵי֙ יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל אֲ֠שֶׁר לֹא־נָתַ֧ן שְׁלֹמֹ֛ה לַעֲבָדִ֖ים לִמְלַאכְתּ֑וֹ כִּי־הֵ֜מָּה אַנְשֵׁ֤י מִלְחָמָה֙ וְשָׂרֵ֣י שָׁלִישָׁ֔יו וְשָׂרֵ֥י רִכְבּ֖וֹ וּפָרָשָֽׁיו׃

umin-bene yisra'el asher lo-natan shelomo la'avadim limlakhto ki-hemma anshe milchama vesare shalishav vesare rikhbo ufarashav

But of the children of Israel did Solomon make no servants for his work; but they were men of war, and chief of his captains, and rulers of his chariots and of his horsemen.

¹⁰וְאֵ֨לֶּה שָׂרֵ֤י הנציבים [הַנִּצָּבִ֛ים] אֲשֶׁר־לַמֶּ֥לֶךְ שְׁלֹמֹ֖ה חֲמִשִּׁ֣ים וּמָאתָ֑יִם הָרֹדִ֖ים בָּעָֽם׃

ve'elle sare hannitzavim asher-lammelekh shelomo chamishim umatayim harodim ba'am

And these were the chief officers of king Solomon, even two hundred and fifty, that bore rule over the people.

¹¹וְאֶת־בַּת־פַּרְעֹ֗ה הֶעֱלָ֤ה שְׁלֹמֹה֙ מֵעִ֣יר דָּוִ֔יד לַבַּ֖יִת אֲשֶׁ֣ר בָּֽנָה־לָ֑הּ כִּ֣י אָמַ֗ר לֹא־תֵשֵׁ֨ב אִשָּׁ֥ה לִי֙ בְּבֵית֙ דָּוִ֣יד מֶֽלֶךְ־יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל כִּי־קֹ֣דֶשׁ הֵ֔מָּה אֲשֶׁר־בָּֽאָ֥ה אֲלֵיהֶ֖ם אֲר֥וֹן יְהוָֽה׃

ve'et-bat-par'o he'ela shelomo me'ir david labbayit asher bana-lah ki amar lo-teshev isha li bevet david melekh-yisra'el ki-kodesh hemma asher-ba'a alehem aron ADONAI

And Solomon brought up the daughter of Pharaoh out of the city of David unto the house that he had built for her; for he said: ‘No wife of mine shall dwell in the house of David king of Israel, because the places are holy, whereunto the ark of the LORD hath come.’

¹²אָ֣ז הֶעֱלָ֧ה שְׁלֹמֹ֛ה עֹל֖וֹת לַיהוָ֑ה עַ֚ל מִזְבַּ֣ח יְהוָ֔ה אֲשֶׁ֥ר בָּנָ֖ה לִפְנֵ֥י הָאוּלָֽם׃

az he'ela shelomo olot laADONAI al mizbach ADONAI asher bana lifne haulam

Then Solomon offered burnt-offerings unto the LORD on the altar of the LORD, which he had built before the porch,

¹³וּבִדְבַר־י֣וֹם בְּי֗וֹם לְהַעֲלוֹת֙ כְּמִצְוַ֣ת מֹשֶׁ֔ה לַשַּׁבָּתוֹת֙ וְלֶ֣חֳדָשִׁ֔ים וְלַמּ֣וֹעֲד֔וֹת שָׁל֥וֹשׁ פְּעָמִ֖ים בַּשָּׁנָ֑ה בְּחַ֧ג הַמַּצּ֛וֹת וּבְחַ֥ג הַשָּׁבֻע֖וֹת וּבְחַ֥ג הַסֻּכּֽוֹת׃

uvidvar-yom beyom leha'alot kemitzvat moshe lashabbatot velechodashim velammo'adot shalosh pe'amim bashana bechag hammatzot uvechag hashavu'ot uvechag hassukkot

even as the duty of every day required, offering according to the commandment of Moses, on the sabbaths, and on the new moons, and on the appointed seasons, three times in the year, even in the feast of unleavened bread, and in the feast of weeks, and in the feast of tabernacles.

¹⁴וַיַּעֲמֵ֣ד כְּמִשְׁפַּ֣ט דָּֽוִיד־אָ֠בִיו אֶת־מַחְלְק֨וֹת הַכֹּהֲנִ֜ים עַל־עֲבֹדָתָ֗ם וְהַלְוִיִּ֣ם עַל־מִ֠שְׁמְרוֹתָם לְהַלֵּ֨ל וּלְשָׁרֵ֜ת נֶ֤גֶד הַכֹּֽהֲנִים֙ לִדְבַר־י֣וֹם בְּיוֹמ֔וֹ וְהַשּׁוֹעֲרִ֥ים בְּמַחְלְקוֹתָ֖ם לְשַׁ֣עַר וָשָׁ֑עַר כִּ֣י כֵ֔ן מִצְוַ֖ת דָּוִ֥יד אִישׁ־הָאֱלֹהִֽים׃

vayya'amed kemishpat david-aviv et-machlekot hakkohanim al-avodatam vehalviyyim al-mishmerotam lehallel ulesharet neged hakkohanim lidvar-yom beyomo vehasho'arim bemachlekotam lesha'ar vasha'ar ki khen mitzvat david ish-ha'elohim

And he appointed, according to the ordinance of David his father, the courses of the priests to their service, and the Levites to their charges, to praise, and to minister before the priests, as the duty of every day required; the doorkeepers also by their courses at every gate; for so had David the man of God commanded.

¹⁵וְלֹ֣א סָרוּ֩ מִצְוַ֨ת הַמֶּ֜לֶךְ עַל־הַכֹּהֲנִ֧ים וְהַלְוִיִּ֛ם לְכָל־דָּבָ֖ר וְלָאֹצָרֽוֹת׃

velo saru mitzvat hammelekh al-hakkohanim vehalviyyim lekhal-davar vela'otzarot

And they departed not from the commandment of the king unto the priests and Levites concerning any matter, or concerning the treasures.

¹⁶וַתִּכֹּן֙ כָּל־מְלֶ֣אכֶת שְׁלֹמֹ֔ה עַד־הַיּ֛וֹם מוּסַ֥ד בֵּית־יְהוָ֖ה וְעַד־כְּלֹת֑וֹ שָׁלֵ֖ם בֵּ֥ית יְהוָֽה׃

vattikkon kal-melekhet shelomo ad-hayyom musad bet-ADONAI ve'ad-keloto shalem bet ADONAI

So all the work of Solomon was set in order from the day of the foundation of the house of the LORD, and until it was finished. So the house of the LORD was perfected.

¹⁷אָז֩ הָלַ֨ךְ שְׁלֹמֹ֜ה לְעֶצְיֽוֹן־גֶּ֧בֶר וְאֶל־אֵיל֛וֹת עַל־שְׂפַ֥ת הַיָּ֖ם בְּאֶ֥רֶץ אֱדֽוֹם׃

az halakh shelomo le'etzyon-gever ve'el-elot al-sefat hayyam be'eretz edom

Then went Solomon to Ezion-geber, and to Eloth, on the sea-shore in the land of Edom.

¹⁸וַיִּֽשְׁלַֽח־לוֹ֩ חוּרָ֨ם בְּיַד־עֲבָדָ֜יו אוניות [אֳנִיּ֗וֹת] וַעֲבָדִים֮ י֣וֹדְעֵי יָם֒ וַיָּבֹ֜אוּ עִם־עַבְדֵ֤י שְׁלֹמֹה֙ אוֹפִ֔ירָה וַיִּקְח֣וּ מִשָּׁ֔ם אַרְבַּע־מֵא֥וֹת וַחֲמִשִּׁ֖ים כִּכַּ֣ר זָהָ֑ב וַיָּבִ֖יאוּ אֶל־הַמֶּ֥לֶךְ שְׁלֹמֹֽה׃

vayyishlach-lo churam beyad-avadav oniyyot va'avadim yod'e yam vayyavou im-avde shelomo ofira vayyikchu misham arba'-meot vachamishim kikkar zahav vayyaviu el-hammelekh shelomo

And Huram sent him by the hands of his servants ships, and servants that had knowledge of the sea; and they came with the servants of Solomon to Ophir, and fetched from thence four hundred and fifty talents of gold, and brought them to king Solomon.

⁹But of the children of Israel, Solomon made no servants for his work, but they were men of war, chief of his captains, and rulers of his chariots and of his horsemen.

¹⁰These were the chief officers of King Solomon, even two-hundred fifty, who ruled over the people.

¹¹Solomon brought up Pharaoh’s daughter out of David’s city to the house that he had built for her; for he said, “My wife shall not dwell in the house of David king of Israel, because the places where the LORD’s ark has come are holy.”

¹⁴He appointed, according to the ordinance of David his father, the divisions of the priests to their service, and the Levites to their offices, to praise and to minister before the priests, as the duty of every day required, the doorkeepers also by their divisions at every gate, for David the man of God had so commanded.

¹⁵They didn’t depart from the commandment of the king to the priests and Levites concerning any matter or concerning the treasures.

¹⁶Now all the work of Solomon was accomplished from the day of the foundation of the LORD’s house until it was finished. So the LORD’s house was completed.

¹⁷Then Solomon went to Ezion Geber and to Eloth, on the seashore in the land of Edom.

¹⁸Huram sent him ships and servants who had knowledge of the sea by the hands of his servants; and they came with the servants of Solomon to Ophir, and brought from there four hundred fifty talents of gold, and brought them to King Solomon.
