¹וַיָּ֣חֶל שְׁלֹמֹ֗ה לִבְנ֤וֹת אֶת־בֵּית־יְהוָה֙ בִּיר֣וּשָׁלִַ֔ם בְּהַר֙ הַמּ֣וֹרִיָּ֔ה אֲשֶׁ֥ר נִרְאָ֖ה לְדָוִ֣יד אָבִ֑יהוּ אֲשֶׁ֤ר הֵכִין֙ בִּמְק֣וֹם דָּוִ֔יד בְּגֹ֖רֶן אָרְנָ֥ן הַיְבוּסִֽי׃

vayyachel shelomo livnot et-bet-ADONAI birushalam behar hammoriyya asher nir'a ledavid avihu asher hekhin bimkom david begoren arnan hayvusi

Then Solomon began to build the house of the LORD at Jerusalem in mount Moriah, where [the LORD] appeared unto David his father; for which provision had been made in the Place of David, in the threshingfloor of Ornan the Jebusite.

²וַ֠יָּחֶל לִבְנ֞וֹת בַּחֹ֤דֶשׁ הַשֵּׁנִי֙ בַּשֵּׁנִ֔י בִּשְׁנַ֥ת אַרְבַּ֖ע לְמַלְכוּתֽוֹ׃

vayyachel livnot bachodesh hasheni basheni bishnat arba' lemalkhuto

And he began to build in the second day of the second month, in the fourth year of his reign.

³וְאֵ֨לֶּה֙ הוּסַ֣ד שְׁלֹמֹ֔ה לִבְנ֖וֹת אֶת־בֵּ֣ית הָאֱלֹהִ֑ים הָאֹ֡רֶךְ אַמּ֞וֹת בַּמִּדָּ֤ה הָרִֽאשׁוֹנָה֙ אַמּ֣וֹת שִׁשִּׁ֔ים וְרֹ֖חַב אַמּ֥וֹת עֶשְׂרִֽים׃

ve'elle husad shelomo livnot et-bet ha'elohim ha'orekh ammot bammidda harishona ammot shishim verochav ammot esrim

Now these are the foundations which Solomon laid for the building of the house of God. The length by cubits after the ancient measure was threescore cubits, and the breadth twenty cubits.

⁴וְהָאוּלָ֡ם אֲשֶׁר֩ עַל־פְּנֵ֨י הָאֹ֜רֶךְ עַל־פְּנֵ֤י רֹֽחַב־הַבַּ֨יִת֙ אַמּ֣וֹת עֶשְׂרִ֔ים וְהַגֹּ֖בַהּ מֵאָ֣ה וְעֶשְׂרִ֑ים וַיְצַפֵּ֥הוּ מִפְּנִ֖ימָה זָהָ֥ב טָהֽוֹר׃

vehaulam asher al-pene ha'orekh al-pene rochav-habbayit ammot esrim vehaggovah me'a ve'esrim vaytzappehu mippenima zahav tahor

And the porch that was before [the house], the length of it, according to the breadth of the house, was twenty cubits, and the height a hundred and twenty; and he overlaid it within with pure gold.

⁵וְאֵ֣ת ׀ הַבַּ֣יִת הַגָּד֗וֹל חִפָּה֙ עֵ֣ץ בְּרוֹשִׁ֔ים וַיְחַפֵּ֖הוּ זָהָ֣ב ט֑וֹב וַיַּ֧עַל עָלָ֛יו תִּמֹרִ֖ים וְשַׁרְשְׁרֽוֹת׃

ve'et habbayit haggadol chippa etz beroshim vaychappehu zahav tov vayya'al alav timorim vesharsherot

And the greater house he covered with cypress-wood, which he overlaid with fine gold, and wrought thereon palm-trees and chains.

⁶וַיְצַ֧ף אֶת־הַבַּ֛יִת אֶ֥בֶן יְקָרָ֖ה לְתִפְאָ֑רֶת וְהַזָּהָ֖ב זְהַ֥ב פַּרְוָֽיִם׃

vaytzaf et-habbayit even yekara letif'aret vehazzahav zehav parvayim

And he garnished the house with precious stones for beauty; and the gold was gold of Parvaim.

⁷וַיְחַ֨ף אֶת־הַבַּ֜יִת הַקֹּר֧וֹת הַסִּפִּ֛ים וְקִֽירוֹתָ֥יו וְדַלְתוֹתָ֖יו זָהָ֑ב וּפִתַּ֥ח כְּרוּבִ֖ים עַל־הַקִּירֽוֹת׃

vaychaf et-habbayit hakkorot hassippim vekirotav vedaltotav zahav ufittach keruvim al-hakkirot

He overlaid also the house, the beams, the thresholds, and the walls thereof, and the doors thereof, with gold; and graved cherubim on the walls.

⁸וַיַּ֨עַשׂ֙ אֶת־בֵּֽית־קֹ֣דֶשׁ הַקֳּדָשִׁ֔ים אָרְכּ֞וֹ עַל־פְּנֵ֤י רֹֽחַב־הַבַּ֨יִת֙ אַמּ֣וֹת עֶשְׂרִ֔ים וְרָחְבּ֖וֹ אַמּ֣וֹת עֶשְׂרִ֑ים וַיְחַפֵּ֨הוּ֙ זָהָ֣ב ט֔וֹב לְכִכָּרִ֖ים שֵׁ֥שׁ מֵאֽוֹת׃

vayya'as et-bet-kodesh hakkodashim arko al-pene rochav-habbayit ammot esrim verachbo ammot esrim vaychappehu zahav tov lekhikkarim shesh meot

And he made the most holy place; the length thereof, according to the breadth of the house, was twenty cubits, and the breadth thereof twenty cubits; and he overlaid it with fine gold, amounting to six hundred talents.

⁹וּמִשְׁקָ֛ל לְמִסְמְר֥וֹת לִשְׁקָלִ֖ים חֲמִשִּׁ֣ים זָהָ֑ב וְהָעֲלִיּ֖וֹת חִפָּ֥ה זָהָֽב׃

umishkal lemismerot lishkalim chamishim zahav veha'aliyyot chippa zahav

And the weight of the nails was fifty shekels of gold. And he overlaid the upper chambers with gold.

¹⁰וַיַּ֜עַשׂ בְּבֵֽית־קֹ֤דֶשׁ הַקֳּדָשִׁים֙ כְּרוּבִ֣ים שְׁנַ֔יִם מַעֲשֵׂ֖ה צַעֲצֻעִ֑ים וַיְצַפּ֥וּ אֹתָ֖ם זָהָֽב׃

vayya'as bevet-kodesh hakkodashim keruvim shenayim ma'ase tza'atzu'im vaytzappu otam zahav

And in the most holy place he made two cherubim of image work; and they overlaid them with gold.

¹¹וְכַנְפֵי֙ הַכְּרוּבִ֔ים אָרְכָּ֖ם אַמּ֣וֹת עֶשְׂרִ֑ים כְּנַ֨ף הָאֶחָ֜ד לְאַמּ֣וֹת חָמֵ֗שׁ מַגַּ֨עַת֙ לְקִ֣יר הַבַּ֔יִת וְהַכָּנָ֤ף הָאַחֶ֨רֶת֙ אַמּ֣וֹת חָמֵ֔שׁ מַגִּ֕יעַ לִכְנַ֖ף הַכְּר֥וּב הָאַחֵֽר׃

vekhanfe hakkeruvim arkam ammot esrim kenaf ha'echad le'ammot chamesh magga'at lekir habbayit vehakkanaf ha'acheret ammot chamesh maggia likhnaf hakkeruv ha'acher

And the wings of the cherubim were twenty cubits long: the wing of the one cherub was five cubits, reaching to the wall of the house; and the other wing was likewise five cubits, reaching to the wing of the other cherub.

¹²וּכְנַ֨ף הַכְּר֤וּב הָאֶחָד֙ אַמּ֣וֹת חָמֵ֔שׁ מַגִּ֖יעַ לְקִ֣יר הַבָּ֑יִת וְהַכָּנָ֤ף הָאַחֶ֨רֶת֙ אַמּ֣וֹת חָמֵ֔שׁ דְּבֵקָ֕ה לִכְנַ֖ף הַכְּר֥וּב הָאַחֵֽר׃

ukhenaf hakkeruv ha'echad ammot chamesh maggia lekir habbayit vehakkanaf ha'acheret ammot chamesh deveka likhnaf hakkeruv ha'acher

And the wing of the other cherub was five cubits, reaching to the wall of the house; and the other wing was five cubits also, joining to the wing of the other cherub.

¹³כַּנְפֵי֙ הַכְּרוּבִ֣ים הָאֵ֔לֶּה פֹּֽרְשִׂ֖ים אַמּ֣וֹת עֶשְׂרִ֑ים וְהֵ֛ם עֹמְדִ֥ים עַל־רַגְלֵיהֶ֖ם וּפְנֵיהֶ֥ם לַבָּֽיִת׃

kanfe hakkeruvim ha'elle porsim ammot esrim vehem omdim al-raglehem ufenehem labbayit

The wings of these cherubim spread themselves forth twenty cubits; and they stood on their feet, and their faces were inward.

¹⁴וַיַּ֨עַשׂ֙ אֶת־הַפָּרֹ֔כֶת תְּכֵ֥לֶת וְאַרְגָּמָ֖ן וְכַרְמִ֣יל וּב֑וּץ וַיַּ֥עַל עָלָ֖יו כְּרוּבִֽים׃

vayya'as et-happarokhet tekhelet ve'argaman vekharmil uvutz vayya'al alav keruvim

And he made the veil of blue, and purple, and crimson, and fine linen, and wrought cherubim thereon.

¹⁵וַיַּ֜עַשׂ לִפְנֵ֤י הַבַּ֨יִת֙ עַמּוּדִ֣ים שְׁנַ֔יִם אַמּ֕וֹת שְׁלֹשִׁ֥ים וְחָמֵ֖שׁ אֹ֑רֶךְ וְהַצֶּ֥פֶת אֲשֶׁר־עַל־רֹאשׁ֖וֹ אַמּ֥וֹת חָמֵֽשׁ׃

vayya'as lifne habbayit ammudim shenayim ammot sheloshim vechamesh orekh vehatzefet asher-al-rosho ammot chamesh

Also he made before the house two pillars of thirty and five cubits high, and the capital that was on the top of each of them was five cubits.

¹⁶וַיַּ֤עַשׂ שַׁרְשְׁרוֹת֙ בַּדְּבִ֔יר וַיִּתֵּ֖ן עַל־רֹ֣אשׁ הָעַמֻּדִ֑ים וַיַּ֤עַשׂ רִמּוֹנִים֙ מֵאָ֔ה וַיִּתֵּ֖ן בַּֽשַּׁרְשְׁרֽוֹת׃

vayya'as sharsherot baddevir vayyitten al-rosh ha'ammudim vayya'as rimmonim me'a vayyitten basharsherot

And he made chains in the Sanctuary, and put them on the tops of the pillars; and he made a hundred pomegranates, and put them on the chains.

¹⁷וַיָּ֤קֶם אֶת־הָֽעַמּוּדִים֙ עַל־פְּנֵ֣י הַהֵיכָ֔ל אֶחָ֥ד מִיָּמִ֖ין וְאֶחָ֣ד מֵֽהַשְּׂמֹ֑אול וַיִּקְרָ֤א שֵׁם־הימיני [הַיְמָנִי֙] יָכִ֔ין וְשֵׁ֥ם הַשְּׂמָאלִ֖י בֹּֽעַז׃

vayyakem et-ha'ammudim al-pene hahekhal echad miyyamin ve'echad mehassemovl vayyikra shem-haymani yakhin veshem hassemali bo'az

And he set up the pillars before the temple, one on the right hand, and the other on the left; and called the name of that on the right hand Jachin, and the name of that on the left Boaz.

⁴The porch that was in front, its length, across the width of the house, was twenty cubits, and the height one hundred twenty; and he overlaid it within with pure gold.

⁵He made the larger room with a ceiling of cypress wood, which he overlaid with fine gold, and ornamented it with palm trees and chains.

⁶He decorated the house with precious stones for beauty. The gold was gold from Parvaim.

⁷He also overlaid the house, the beams, the thresholds, its walls, and its doors with gold, and engraved cherubim on the walls.

⁸He made the most holy place. Its length, according to the width of the house, was twenty cubits, and its width twenty cubits; and he overlaid it with fine gold, amounting to six hundred talents.

⁹The weight of the nails was fifty shekels of gold. He overlaid the upper rooms with gold.

¹⁰In the most holy place he made two cherubim by carving, and they overlaid them with gold.

¹¹The wings of the cherubim were twenty cubits long: the wing of the one was five cubits, reaching to the wall of the house; and the other wing was five cubits, reaching to the wing of the other cherub.

¹²The wing of the other cherub was five cubits, reaching to the wall of the house; and the other wing was five cubits, joining to the wing of the other cherub.
