Sukkot
Sukkot: God tabernacles with us
"The Word became flesh and lived among us" (John 1:14). The Greek verb means he pitched his tent, or tabernacled, among us.
At Sukkot Israel lives in booths to remember God's care in the wilderness, when his presence dwelt in the Tabernacle among them.
On the last great day of Sukkot, when water was poured out in the Temple, Yeshua stood and cried, "If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me and drink!" (John 7:37).
Zechariah 14 sees all nations going up to Jerusalem to keep Sukkot. Messianic Jews see it as a picture of the Messiah's reign.
In the Scriptures
42Ye shall dwell in booths seven days; all that are home-born in Israel shall dwell in booths; 43that your generations may know that I made the children of Israel to dwell in booths, when I brought them out of the land of Egypt: I am the LORD your God.
16And it shall come to pass, that every one that is left of all the nations that came against Jerusalem shall go up from year to year to worship the King, the LORD of hosts, and to keep the feast of tabernacles.
Zechariah 14:16 (Hebrew & JPS 1917)
37Now on the last and greatest day of the feast, Yeshua stood and cried out, “If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me and drink! 38He who believes in me, as the Scripture has said, from within him will flow rivers of living water.”
John 7:37-38 (WMB)
