Hanukkah: Yeshua at the Feast of Dedication
John 10:22-23: "It was the Feast of Hanukkah at Jerusalem. It was winter, and Yeshua was walking in the temple, in Solomon's porch."
Hanukkah remembers the rededication of the Temple after the Maccabees' victory (164 BCE). The New Covenant is the only part of the Bible that mentions it by name.
During that feast Yeshua was asked, "If you are the Messiah, tell us plainly." He answered, "I and the Father are one" (John 10:24-30).
The menorah was the Temple's light. Yeshua said, "I am the light of the world" (John 8:12), on the Temple grounds.
In the Scriptures
22It was the Feast of Hanukkah at Jerusalem. 23It was winter, and Yeshua was walking in the temple, in Solomon’s porch. 24The Judeans therefore came around him and said to him, “How long will you hold us in suspense? If you are the Messiah, tell us plainly.” 25Yeshua answered them, “I told you, and you don’t believe. The works that I do in my Father’s name, these testify about me.
John 10:22-25 (WMB)
12Again, therefore, Yeshua spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. He who follows me will not walk in the darkness, but will have the light of life.”
John 8:12 (WMB)
